Emily, grateful for this video. I'm late to the party unfortunately. Just learning about Streetplanr! I've been a super bug fan of your pops since I was about 13bor 14 and I'm 47 now. Much love to the Vallely family!!!! If you see this, any chance y'all could re-release the Garcia decks at some point? I'm kicking myself for not knowing they even existed until today and want em bad.

When I was 12 or 13 I saw Mike at a demo in fort Collins CO on a big wooden ramp. I asked if I could ride his board and he said I could have it! I was blown away. It was my first encounter with a pro and he was such a class act! Stand strong

This happened at a demo I was at also! He saw a little kid with a trashed board and shoes that were really worn out. Mike gave him new shoes and a new deck. Even set the new deck up for him. That has always stuck with me...he was a good guy not just this tough guy skater.

I have not bought a board yet, it will happen. I don't even know what I ride. I hadn''t skated in 10 years starting on a off in the 80s (I'm 44) , someone threw a deck in the trash and I grabbed it and bought the rest of the set up and started skating again about a month ago. But, what I am getting to is I love the videos, I love all the positive vibes in every one of your videos. The skating is pure, and I can't get enough. Thank you Mike from the 80s to now still inspiring me as a skater and the kind of dad I want to be to my son.

Man, this is so dope. i remember back in the 90's thinking mike was the toughest dude. It's sweet to see how age softens people, how he speaks of good energy and love. I know skateboarding got me into a lot of shit, but it got me out of a lot more, and a lot of it is thanks to dudes like Mike. You're so fortunate to have the job you do. Your answer was right on!

Just ordered a Five Year anniversary deck, wheels, trucks, bearings, and risers from Street Plant. I haven't bought a new set up in literally decades. I did some searching on line for decks at the same time I listened to Mike's Nine Club appearance. After that I just HAD to buy a Street Plant. This is the real deal. I'm soooooo psyched to support you guys and get on this board at age 44!

    Your dads a beast. Its like he doesnt age! I saw him at 3rd Lair Skatepark in Minneapolis for Tony Hawk's Gigantic Skatepark Tour. He went hangin from the rafters and did some kind of acid drop onto a bank ramp like a madman! That was back in like 2001 and i was 10 or 11 years old. He was and still is a major positive influence and role model for me. If you go back and watch that clip from the Tony Hawk tour, i am the kid they zoomed in on in the crowd with the red shirt and silver helmet 😆 holding up the ✌for Vallely. Oh and i totally dig the Jerry Garcia board (~);}

On a small island military base named the Kwajalein atoll (island is literally 3.5 miles long by 1/2 miles wide). I fell in love with skateboarding. I was 15 then. We watched your dad on public domain hundreds of times. That elephant board was my first real board and I tore every corner of that small island up with it. Over the years, occasionally reading and watching interviews I've always took note that he tended put a lot of heart into whatever he does. His skateboarding, his small business, and more than anything ... his family. It's really great to see. I love the family I made with my wife more than anything. I'd like to think that it's with that same heart that I try to put into all of the stuff I do.
Street plant seems like a company worth supporting. That being said, a small request. Make some of these awesome boards size 7.75 for some of us smaller dudes. (I've tried to love size 8.0 but just can't do it.) I'll be getting a board or two for my wall, but I'd like to be able to get boards from you that I can skate for my size.
This video was inspiring. And your small, humble, family run business out of the garage seems pretty damn cool. The skating may have not been passed to the daughter, but it seems the heart certainly was.

I want to share a story. I went to watch Slam City Jam in Vancouver in the early 2000’s. Your dad already did his run, awesome skating of course :)
It was Rick McCranks run and he was the local hero. Another pro skater in the crowd sitting next to me started throwing water and stuff in the air, rousing the kids up around him. It was super distracting to the crowd and locals.
Your dad came running up to that pro, and while he didn’t threaten him - he had “strong words” with him and told him to stop, and he settled the kids down. He knew it was disrespectful to Rick and the locals who were eager to see there hometown hero do well.
I had always heard and seen how your dad would get into fights with security guards and such, but here he was defending the home town skater to “let him have his moment”.
It was such a sign of respect to Rick and the locals. It’s a small gesture to some people but I’ll never forget that gesture as a local skater. Much respect to Mike and you and your family. Best of luck in everything you guys do, and I hope to order and support you guys in the future :)

This really hits me. My skateboard buddies were the only family I had until I grew up and started my own family and started passing it on to my daughter. You guys are doing a good thing for the world.
I'll make my next deck a street plant.

Mike V forgot to mention he will also write a quote or personal message on the decks if asked nicely and has done so for me on several occasions. Mike V is all class. Love what you guys are doing. Keep up the great work and those little personal touches that set you apart from the rest of the pack

Heart, thats Why Mike is my Favorite skater of all time. You can see what I mean when He and Emily are asked about what means the most in their Day to day, and Mike describes mailing out the decks. Its that thing right there, the feeling and the love that skateboarders have for the sport, and the community..thanks for posting..street plant Lets Go Forever!
Also Mikes intro in this vid is Classic..so..you wanna (lol)

I remember seeing Mike skating and always thought how great he is as a boarder, even when I was in Japan serving in the US Navy on the USS Midway in Yokosuka in the 80's. I thought he was a cross of a Football/skater because he was the strong one out of all the other skinny skaters. Learned from his skating as I did from Tony , Mike, and Stevie. After the Navy - I ended up working for Thrasher - after going to a party with Stevie - I met Mofo and he had me write a story about my times in Japan, did that and then he hired me - but to work silk screening shirts etc.... Yep those were some fun days, then I moved to San Diego and never looked back :) Thanks for your contributions to my memories, and you have a wonderful daughter too!

Much love to Mike and the Vallely family. One of my favorite skaters growing up, and still today 👍🏻. I bought some of your crystal skull wheels, they rock. So surprised when I saw the hand written cards, brought tears to my eyes, for real. I have my own business too, so I know how scary and hard it can be. Keep up the good work, the industry needs the small guys to keep its Roots strong! ✌️

Was very surprised. Ive been havinf a day from hell and decided to watch on a whim. Your business is amazing and the fact that you work with your dad (one of my favorite skateboarders) is awesome. Your company really believes in the touches to make each order unique and an experience for the buyer. Even though it might be your 1123rd order, it might be some ones first time buying from you and these things count. Thanks for making my day feel better for at least a few mins. Your fan from canada

When I was a kid your dad came to our local skate shop in NJ to sign stuff. I couldn't make it, but my friend was nice enough to ask him to sign a poster for me. 20+ years later I still have it. He has an intensity to his skating that can never be duplicated, plus he seems like such a positive nice guy. He's a good role model for kids.

Wow I remember being awe struck meeting your pops at San Martin Park with Jason Rothmeyer pro skater and owner of BYOB Skateshop in Long Beach. I'm pretty sure you were being pushed by your pops as we went up to him and asked him to do a kickflip. He popped the hell out of that kickflip. We had just started in 95' and I think it was 96'-97' and he was just the nicest guy to us young posers at that time. Lakewood and LB native too so much respect to you guys and I just subbed and liked.

Why is it that skateboarding attracts so many quality people. Np MLB or NFL of NASCAR pros would take the time to touch each piece they send out let alone a personal note to the customer. Mike V. you sir are a role model beyond compare. Thank you for all you've done. Love.
