34:50 I'm with TFE: I tend to spam conveyors and welders as I go, the time to extend a conveyor line to my work area and slap on a welder pays for itself many times over through the closer cargo access elimination of hand welding tedious blocks. As areas are completed (or more permanent cargo access is added) the extra conveyor lines and welders can be removed.

1:03 A recent Slow-Mo Guys video proved that water can in fact deflect bullets, though only if the angle between the bullet's velocity vector and the surface of the water is quite low. So, yeah, don't count on the shower to save you TFE
There was definitely something that collided with TFE's ship and exploded, causing the damage he noticed later, and that threw Capac into the bulkhead. The sounds the grid made, and the fact that the guns weren't firing leads me to believe it wasn't related to any meteors, and if it was an enemy grid it was likely free-floating without power or weapons. It is possible that the damage could have occurred earlier, but the sounds and the ship wide shudder leaves me with the conclusion that the damage to the Marlin happened at the same moment.
I don't know how feasible continuing to capture ASSERT ships with just what you've got is going to be if they're sending that stuff at you. That said a single fighter on its own was always basically guaranteed to lose the main ship after drones showed up, but if Fite Brites are consistently called in whenever you show up... at least they're not actively seeking you out, I guess? This section of space is probably a lot more actively defended too given the sheer number of competing factions. 12:02 You have _two_ mining ships. The Marlin has that little mini-miner, as well as the Jugg's contribution. A tunneler is also a good idea for that sort of thing, if you can reliably find the exact location of the ore deposits far below the surface and just punch straight through the asteroid towards them. That old industrial drill mod - the one with the absurd 5x5x7 drills - was so good for that sort of thing. However I feel like if you put reactors and refineries on a tunnel bore ship, it'd be the size that you'd need to put its own jump drive or two onto, and by that point it's less a mining ship for active shortages and more something you send out new recruits on a character-building journey with. Also would not recommend turning around or moving quickly with a ship that heavy and thin around voxels. And would be longer than the Marlin (which would at least still fit in line with the lower connectors on Skywarp if its own is on the rear). Capac should record a safe-zone-based screensaver. 32:28 Nothing motivates legal parking like eight railguns pointing directly at you while you consider leaving it at the curb.
Chortle-worthy dialogue right through this episode. 'Tis ironic that it was TFE that first remembered that a priority from the previous episode was addressing the iron shortage. On top of that, the space-dementia seems to be spreading through the crew: Splitsie falling through a hole in a hangar that Capac fell foul of right near the start; TFE neither remembering that the Marlin has been 'haunted' from the time its keel was laid, nor noticing how half of his aft port quarter went missing ... _whilst he was aboard_ !!! - Also: For AUS eastern seaboard ppl: The front of TFE's Marlin now looks like a space-going, malevolent Luna Park!

When You Suggested making the Snozz Double Ended, I Felt Capacs Heart Sink, and I'm Half a World Away...Poor Lad, Mean Splitsie....#GrumblesInCapacNoises
You know the torpedo bay on the port side of the ship that you may have forgotten about, mirror it and instead of having torpedoes, have deployable, small grid gatling platforms that are cheap to produce. Then set the launch bays up with a welder system so that if one gun platform blows, you can just print off another. This gives the Skywarp the gatling turrets you wanted, possible decoy drones and may not be as expensive as railgun gun replacements (if the rail turrets get destroyed) and railgun ammo... It also just sounds kinda fun.
On the off-chance you find a better place for the small grid railgun turret; If you want to have some fun with it, you could set-up a bunch of timers or event controllers that'll fire the railgun battery in sequence rather than in one single blast. So basically; a gatling railgun. I've found the minimum interval on the timer blocks is a little long for this if you want to go for that rapid fire effect, so what I usually do is have one "primary" weapon that you assign to the turret controller and actually do the shooting with, then the next weapon in the sequence has an event controller that is set to fire when the primary's charge level is 99% or less. Then the third gun's EC is watching the second gun's charge, and so on and so forth. That should get you a nice rapid barrage that's both cool looking, and (in my experiance) better at dealing with fast moving targets. Oh and I also recommend that have the EC's and turret controller on the sub-grid itself; that way once you have one of them set-up; you can just blueprint the subgrid so you don't have to do all of that over and over for however many turrets you want to build. You'll still have to assign the new rotor & hinge of course, but that's way better than doing it all from scratch each time.
You can build a 3x3 large grid miner with one large cargo, ions and 2 reactors, its a bit slow with full load but it can mine a LOT for its size. When empty its quite manuverable.
Love the way Splitsie's voice goes up a couple of octaves when the large grid drone shows up. You need some rear facing guns on that porcupine, always need to over your arse. The shape of the Eggplant's rear section blocks a fair arc of gun coverage. I think that this vid proves that any time the SE gods start getting bored they just kill Capac for s#$t's and giggles.
I understand the machine they use to dig the chunnel was just left down there and turned into a museum piece. If you threw some large thrusters on there I think you'd be set.
Helpful auto doors: Group all doors, Set on a timer 2 sec, Event controller to close doors and all all doors to activate when opened. I cant live with out this set up now lol.
That space Capac developed midship could be a Battle Bridge area like the Enterprise...? In case the main Bridge windows / area becomes too damaged...? Like an INvacuation area surrounded by all that heavy armour? Could your rotating rail gun be placed on an extendable piston to deploy...? 😅😅 Great job though all round...!
Just seeing the turreted railguns and TFE bringing up the issue of how much power it'll take (not seen any further yet) and it then vibrated concerningly so I'm thinking firing all 8 of those railguns at once would impart enough recoil to shatter the turret. Then again, Clang is the physics god and it may detonate just by moving, or jumping the ship to new coordinates. No idea if that happens at any point.
25:06 You can put some kind of a platform extending from the hangar entrance , maybe like 3 or 5 blocks extend or more, then on the end of the platform put some guns on the side, that way guns will be more wider and spread and you will have like some protection when you exiting the hangar on foot as well, you can even stand on it and watch the fight :D Platform should be like single block thick and made of heavy armor surrounded by some block texturing or catwalks etc. It will look nice and it will be functional as well. Ofc. pit conveyors for the ammo feed lol Launching platforms are must for a carrier type ships ;) ** EDIT ** 28:09 Reinforced conveyor tubes armor comparison with regular conveyors and piped conveyors: Block name --------------------Regular ---------------- Reinforced ------------------ Piped --------- - Straight conveyor 1230 3730 1230 - Curved conveyor 1230 3730 1230 - T piece conveyor 1410 3610 1410 **EDIT** Anyway, keep up great channel and content Splitsie
Splitsie puts turrets on the side of the Skywarp. Including gatling turrets FINALLY!! TFE - Hmmm dont love how many turrets there are now. Splitsie removes Gatling turrets 😢
I was just about to suggest adding small grid railgun turrets but instead of what you've done, I would've made some sort of void deck kinda like where the turbolaser batteries have been shown in star wars. Three single or double railgun turrets with a cockpit for optional manual aiming.
Regarding the mystery hole in the one hangar, I'm fairly sure some large grid blocks can still be burned by small grid thrusters, so try replacing the windows in that hangar with heavy armor plate instead, I use that for the landing pad on my mini land-carrier. (Though that's only getting hit by atmo thrusters, ions may do more damage)
I like the idea of making the schnozz modular, have a drill front, grind/weld front and a landing gear front, and then you could keep the modules in the utility hangar until you need them so you still have the utility and they are out of the way when not in use.
Make the schnozz have one end be drills, the other a mag plate, then have the control seat spin around and merge block into place so that you can use one or the other.
@@vadernation1233 Fun idea, I may have to try that sometime. Does it have any advantages (other than coolness) over using a rear-facing remote control block? I guess 3rd person view would one...
if you shoot at a really shallow angle, you can actually bounce bullets off water, like skipping a rock. dont know how well that works in a shower though lol
So, Splitsie once again kicks the hornets nest and loses. Capac dies at Clangs command for no apparent reason. And Tiffany continues to obsess over the Marlin... It's another beautiful day in AA. Also, I feel robbed, TFE may have died, but it was not to his signature decompression event! It's not right!
I love this series, so thank you all 3 of you. I tell you what though, something I'd also love to see is an assertive ship that's a carrier for a half dozen Wasabis and Saffrons, that'd scare the pants off me
I suggest creating a battlefrigate that docks to the left and right sides of the carrier, with a full on 4 merge blocks dock. For the frigate I suggest you go with a 15 (long) by 8-9 (tall) by 7-8 (wide). With two on each side or a printer section on one side to help print it off. Think of a cross between the Marlin and TFE's pancake meant to block off the sides outside of combat and in defense (like the marlin's backside role). Imma have to build one myself as well... but I was thinking of a bridge shifted to the side to see past the length of assault cannons running the central line of ship's body. With a medical bay, multiple small cargos, interior turret. Then weapons, atleast two or three assault cannons, frontal missiles or singular railgun or fixed artillery guns, two gatling guns. Power would definitly be 2 small reactors (so yeah remove the railgun idea, say go with arts). NO warp capibilities though (unlike the marlin), probably need oxygen and hydrogen tanks for engineer....
Add event controller and timer block, to auto close all internal doors. stops a lot of accidents and loss of air. Can also set up system to close and turn off inner gate if outer is open.
I think it would be quite nice to leave the rail turret area open to space and make a sort of observation deck. It may be a way to break up a boring area or unusual empty space, by turning them into observation ports/decks/lounges. Both pressurized and open. Neat challenge for funsies, put the turret controller on its own set of rotor -hinge and slave it to the turret so that as the turret moves, so does the control seat. Kind of like the turrets on the Millennium Falcon and other sci-fi things.
The side profile of the Marlin looks more like an angler fish. Big mouth, small tail section, sticky-outie lure bits. Edit: And now it has teeth in the mouth.
That side railgun turret might be a use case where two hinges might work better than rotor hinge. Or put a hinge before the rotor to stow it sideways, then swing out to deploy, giving you more clearance during use but not sticking out so far when not using it.
Just looking at the turrets on the side, why not move the assault cannons forward, then have the player made turret on a piston so it can be retracted when not in use, more sub grids sure. But itd be pretty awesome to pull out
Would be cool if they designed ships that had some abilty to merge limpet like to the ship so they look like they're a part of it until they're needed. To be honest I just wish the ship designs had a more coherent theme to match Skywarp.
Seeing the rotor turret on the side with that many guns makes me want to see what it would be like with the Salvo script. With that much firepower who cares if it's accurate xD
i think that there is too much idle movement with the turrets. imagine a ww2 warship with all guns moving nonstop. it just feels wrong. i tend to let the gattlings move but anything else stays put.
Suggestion, give each deck level in the skywarp a specific colour and pattern for it's corridors and airlock doors. Would probably make it easier to navigate.
so why the 3x3 small hinge on small grid rail turret.... rotor can add small head then use 1x1 hinge also Best practice is to have your guns inline with hinge 0=flat 90=straight up -90=straight down i mean you can see the turret klanging here 31:09 and most the weps for small grid need 1x1 ,only time you really need to go 3x3 is for small weld/grinders also the stowed position you got needed you to look up then rotate if you try to look around fist you just hit the front and back of the rail guns
Not sure either you or Capac can be trusted to have Assert Thrusters on your fighters... Side note - Capac and TFE? Can one of you Please put a window across the large corridor so Splitsie can Splatsie on it?
soon the Marlin won't be the Marlin anymore, it'll be too big and have to be renamed to the Great White Shark! particularly due to it's appetite for Asteroids or hostile ships. TFE needs to add a Grinder wall to swiftly eat captured ships for resources, at least to offset Capac's appetite for materials used to replace his ships. even though one may not want any more large grid ships to drag around, there's quite a few of us wanting the Agglomination 2.0. besides, it gives Capac something to do and not remodeling Skywarp's interior.
i have a hinge-roter-hinge turret, so i can stow it, and only put the hinge out when i want to use the turret, the roter then sticks out a bit more or i can put the entire turrets flat against my ship
Love the broadside idea...but wonder what would happen if they are firing while you are launching. Might pay to lock the angle a bit. If that is possible of course...nvm guessing you are not launching that way anymore?
Maybe insted off trying fitt guns, cut some armor to make brackets for turrets in sloped armor similar to old battleships. That way you have broadside and more up/down firepower.
Id how but I can imagine how tv ship gonna look like if it was a mini carrier, it front gonna be a lot longer that has the same lang as the tail, and the cockpit gonna be a lookout tower/area
If you are going to do broad side rocket launchers you can put them on a sensor to automatically fire. Also the interior is really starting to come along. I bet you could play a good game of hide and seek in there.

It wont happen, the explosive decompression deaths are too good
You can always make ball pin torrents using Gatling guns or auto cannons like how you put a small grid hinge inside a large grid hinge
If you shot through a massive waterfall it would be deflected but mostly due to the water pushing it
The side profile of the Marlin looks more like an angler fish. Big mouth, small tail section, sticky-outie lure bits.
Edit: And now it has teeth in the mouth.
24:21 isn't that configuration limits your broadside coverage? I don't think those turrets can fire 90 degree upwards, no?
You are correct. Of course, if functionality were the highest priority the ship would be designed very differently anyway.
That side railgun turret might be a use case where two hinges might work better than rotor hinge. Or put a hinge before the rotor to stow it sideways, then swing out to deploy, giving you more clearance during use but not sticking out so far when not using it.
Should go for gimbal guns on the side. With 2 hinge up down left right. One cannon on each group. You can put 3 of 4 on the side
Regarding the copy pasting of build vision, you don't need to press home, just a simple 'Insert PgUp and then PgDown' works too :)
1:20 Water? Next Capac will be saying that Birds are real! ;P
At least I tried to do that with the frenzy 🙂
You now have to add an epic horn for the wall!
The marlin is an orangutan from the front
Seeing the rotor turret on the side with that many guns makes me want to see what it would be like with the Salvo script. With that much firepower who cares if it's accurate xD
That's the script that makes the weapons fire one after the other, right? Does it work with railguns?
It is, dunno if it still works in general let alone with railguns. But theoretically it would make it so overpowered xD
i think that there is too much idle movement with the turrets. imagine a ww2 warship with all guns moving nonstop. it just feels wrong. i tend to let the gattlings move but anything else stays put.
When camping at a certain spot with the Skywarp, you should consider deploying drones as a CAP. For safety.
TFE's Marlin looks like Peter Griffin. That's all I see at the front of his ship since it has lost the drills.
You could use that blue space over the corridor to put LCD Displays there and advertise to your enemies :)
Not sure either you or Capac can be trusted to have Assert Thrusters on your fighters...
Side note - Capac and TFE? Can one of you Please put a window across the large corridor so Splitsie can Splatsie on it?
Oi! 😜
The great Marlin distraction. =)
This series is my Top Gear
Thanks :)
I feel really lucky to have TFE and Capac to do this stuff with, it's really fun just mucking around poking fun at each other :D
I’ll be back got 2 more of these to watch before hand
How many episodes before a fighter launches into the path of a firing gun? (It's a carrier, not a battleship!)
soon the Marlin won't be the Marlin anymore, it'll be too big and have to be renamed to the Great White Shark!
particularly due to it's appetite for Asteroids or hostile ships.
45:10,
Safe Warp?
Did you forget about your AI?
It has an intelligence of '6'
:)
Love your content, keep it up plz!!!
Love the broadside idea...but wonder what would happen if they are firing while you are launching. Might pay to lock the angle a bit. If that is possible of course...nvm guessing you are not launching that way anymore?
holy, it feels like i JUST watched the last video.
todays a good day
Haven't finished the video yet, but how about rotor turrets on the sides instead of the large grid turrets?
Nvm. Capac just brought this up.😂
Maybe insted off trying fitt guns, cut some armor to make brackets for turrets in sloped armor similar to old battleships. That way you have broadside and more up/down firepower.
Would be super cool if you could publish those blueprints for the small fighters to the workshop 😁
It's on my to-do list, which I made public on discord so people can see what I actually manage to get done :D
Id how but I can imagine how tv ship gonna look like if it was a mini carrier, it front gonna be a lot longer that has the same lang as the tail, and the cockpit gonna be a lookout tower/area
Yeeeee... new Splitsie!... oh and the other two are here as well... well... okay... I guess that's fine...
If you are going to do broad side rocket launchers you can put them on a sensor to automatically fire. Also the interior is really starting to come along. I bet you could play a good game of hide and seek in there.
Sensor range is a fair bit too short for that to really work (only 50m) 😞
Trying to play with this Mod list with my friend. Its been so long since the start! anyone know what mods he removed? I cant remember:(
