As a teenager (18 - 19) one of My Aunts husband was from an area in St.Thomas that l wish l could see today; more than "Sixty Years later". A group of us used to Ride Our bicycles from Stony Hill, leaving about midday on Friday, then going through the hills passing through places like Woodford/Camebridge down through Gordon Town, up through Mavis Bank to Hagleys Gap. We would leave the Bicycles at Mr Smith's shop and Walk a couple miles up to Penlyne Castle. The next day we would travelle another ten miles or more into The Blue Mountain. (Returning to Stony Hill on Sunday Night). Gone are those days; but not the Memories.
I love the original music in the intro. I remember during the Covid-19 lockdown period, the only thing positive I looked forward to was seeing Elite Jamaica going live in the mornings and watching the daily vlogs posted.
St Thomas is a place of adventure for me. A place called Pilot. That is where I learnt about country life. Where I saw a Spring a river, and many fruit trees. Pig pen how coconut oil was made common fowl, how carry water, and lot more. I was born and lived in Kingston. I never forget that was in the Fifties.
Is there a Loveall Lane in Stony Gut St Thomas? My family are from St Thomas and I’m sad our heritage is like that. You’re amazing 🤩 keep up the great work 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
July 20/24 drove through the most eastern parishes of Jamaica from Kingston to St Thomas and Portland. New highway peaked my excitement. Give thanks for the new roads. We are richer than we realize! Got to get and keep the wealth...no sellout💯
The music at the intro is tough! 👊🏾😎 The mindset of ppl living in both St Thomas and Portland has to change because many outsiders are now passing through. Hospitality and customer service are the main areas need to be worked on.
Yuh know when I first saw most of these on your previous vlogs, I knew nothing about St. Thomas. Alexx, thanks to you & other vloggers -big up AllisonHarrison & EastsideMedia- for introducing me to your place over the years. Mi lef Jumieka from mi likkle. Yeah I came back lots, but my family is from Manchester & St Elizabeth...and ting and ting and ting..yuh know😀. So yah, thank you for introducing me/us to your place. Like the song says, "..nuh weh nuh betta daan yaad.."😊 Big up yuhself.
I stayed in st Thomas for almost A year back and fort to and from Portland and trust me that parish has A lot of abundant buildings some I don't see showed on this platform.most of them build by drugs dealers whom are now in prison, dead.or cant come back to aThomas, even homes that I was told migrate and never return back to home, and they either don't have any family members, or family don't want to live there. Some houses were built for hide out😜 Bless up for this insight
@dadiranclarke4803* That's a ideal place to rebuild for TOURISM! didn't know that Jamaica has abandon places. Jamaican should use their skills to rebuild places like this, if they don't build and invest in their own island and places as such, they will open the doors to the Chinese and other foreigners to continue taking over their land! its time to get serious, too many foreigners are taking over Jamaica's land! its RECOLONIZATION all over again
Hey Alex hope you are doing great. I love your channel. My theory is Jamaica population is declining so has the time goes by many more communities will vanish. They are many empty communities in deep rural Trelwany as well.
Please get the history on this wicked great house. Thanks go do some digging into to it thanks i am Donna Bush love all History of my Beloved Country Jam Rock ❤❤❤
Most of that info is lost to time its just bits and pieces, however I have a book with info that was left in St thomas, so just give me some time I will get you the info.

When I worked as a Poor Relief Officer in St. Thomas, there was a bedridden old lady who needed attention; she lived in Jones Pen. I had to make arrangements with the men who farmed in that community to get her to the main road. There was no road to Jones Pen, only an uphill hiking trail. The farmers had to create a makeshift stretcher to take her downhill to the car that took her to the Infirmary. I was really shocked to see the beautiful houses that were abandoned. It wasn't as rundown as seen in this video. The people only needed their road to be repaired. ☹️
I think I know that lady, was she the one who had operated the shop? There was also another family with a young guy who was mute, they rode donkeys to get to Jones pen
Alex another nice video, love to see that you did a follow-up of St. Thomas. Do you know how these buildings were destroyed, was it from a earthquake? It just amazes me how there are ruins .
Why we Jamaicans so badmind and love other people thing. You could not bare to see the people in their big house. You had to go rob them?. Now it isso sad that they left a beautiful piece of land to go live in depressing foreign.
There are lots of places in the mountains that are abandoned due to lack of proper roadways and their safety. My grandparents house was abandoned due the same reason. The younger generation do not want to go back. It is so sad. Living in such isolated area, even though it is so peaceful, it setting up yourself to be robbed. Now that the gangs have taken over it is worse than ever.
We need the Chinese to develop those areas, with easier access. A redevelopment with industries for people to earn and get rid of the ghettos and people who are living in those unlivable conditions
Mo ghettos in that area either. It's OK the way it is, people in that area prefer the quiet life. No Chinese needed either, the land is for the farmers.
Hey Alex, can you do special on the number of Arabs and Muslims moving to Jamaica to live. I watched 2 African TH-camrs who shows different interviews of Arab/Muslim living in Jamaica telling the Muslim countries to come to Jamaica to live and how nice and peaceful it is. I know that there is a Mosque in Portmore. This Quran tell them to go aboard and take over that country. I am very nervous because from reports no one is reporting on this. This religion do not tolerated any other religion. They might be peaceful now because they are in the minority. Please Take a look at what happened to Africa the slaughtering of Christian and other religions. they take over of Europe. And the influx in the USA. Recently I saw a video of the opposition leader of the PNP on public groundsholding up the Palestinian flag., And the Palestinian who pushed the PM to recognize Palestine as a country. Not even the Lord recognized Palestine. Barbados and Jamaica are only the 2 countries that recognizes Palestine as a country. It seems that what ever Barbados does the PM follows. I know that the tourist minister is pushing for Dubai who has the largest hubs around the world to build their terminal at Norman Manly Airport. Can you please look into this. I am afraid for my beautiful Island nation in the sun. Thank you.

How many people from Jamaica and abroad really know where their first time people really game from
So many wasted land 😮

Np gangs in St Thomas, very low crime rate, the robbery at the big house was the last on that area, and that was 1985. That's the area I grew up.
@@EliteJamaicadid they ever punished the thieves who robbed the big house?
@Junjo11 Yes the community got rid of him in the early 90s
