- The most normal family in all of Strangetown gets a home makeover. ✨
I'm back after a mini break over the holidays with another sims 2 lot renovation.
The Smith family lives at 101 Road to Nowhere and consists of Pollination Tech#9 Smith (PT9), his wife Jenny Smith, and their kids Johnny and Jill.
PT9 Smith has worked hard, but has now retired to his favorite planet and settled with his own happy family... he does have more offspring running around town though. They're the picture-perfect Strangetown household and everyone loves them... or do they?
I hope you liked this Strangetown lot makeover! This video is part of my big Sims 2 Lot Renovation project where I intend to remake all of the Maxis-made houses and give them my own twist.

Ironically, the Sims 3 was my first sims game; I liked it so much that a few months later, I tried Sims 2… and that was the last time I ever played Sims 3 😂
lol omg... I suppose many ppl started with ts3 so it's no wonder that's their fav. I started out with the original the sims so when ts2 came out it felt like a MASSIVE improvement that still had that original charm and craziness.
@@bibipixels I was actually born the same year the first game came out, so I never played it-not until very recently. But I can imagine how insane an upgrade TS2 must have been. Just wow.
Sims 3 is… fine? Like, it’s not *bad* and it’s got some cool mechanics like open world and story progression, but it lost the charm Sims 2 has. I can’t really explain why or how, it just did. It feels blah in comparison.

SimPe is not for the weak omg every time I open that program, I leave covered in blood 😑 would love to see you play ts3!! It’s definitely not for everybody esp when it comes to its visuals, but there’s just SO much to do. I miss it bad 😅💕
I feel like I never gave ts3 a fair chance so I'm willing to try it again. I don't know if I'll LOVE love it, but I definitely think it will be fun to try it out without knowing much about it other than the basics.

I'm just now discovering that packaging lots w CC is not as easy as I thought😬😬😬 So it'll take me some time to prepare each lot, but I'll start working on it.
Yes, it's cold in the desert during winter so fireplaces are good. I like the house a lot, will be downloading it when you make it available 😊

lol i spent the first ten minutes wondering why some items looked so familiar and modern. they’re 4t2’s! i love that type of cc
oh yeah i have a few sims 4 conversions like that where parts don't play well together, i got the same kitchen set here and the sink drives me nuts, half the time they seem to go to the bathroom to wash dishes there rather than use it...and some other ones where counters and cabinets are not sized right so they have gaps between them. love the makeover, it suits them so well! now i have to go on a cc spree. i didn't much like sims 3 either, especially since it takes control away from me lmao, i like that i can control everything in sims 2, sims 4 is even worse, no control over the looks of the town, lots, or stopping it from spawning those horrid townies. I liked gardening and wine making in the sims 3 tho, but the sun and moon winemaking mod for sims 2 is great, i love winemaking as another business for the Monty family. I love the bedrooms in this makeover so much, they look so warm and inviting, the pink and teal was my fave it's so cute.
Your buildings are UNREAL! I hung out for two days to watch all of this, it's so relaxing, huh. Thanks for such content! It is great!

My first Sims game was Sims 1 on console, and then Sims 2 (and its many offshoots ) on console. But I played Sims 2 first on PC, and despite leaving TS2 for years to play TS3 in the early 10s, my Sims hiatus has only drawn me closer to Sims 2 since picking it back up in 2022. I love it so much. Your videos are such a joy to watch, thank you for uploading

I'd like to see a video on landscaping and using terrain paint, if that's something you'd like to do sometime. I enjoy building and decorating but lack in the landscaping department. 🤣
Jill's room is my favourite room in the house! They are from Family Fun Stuff if I'm not mistaken. And Johnny wants to rock up in a sports car; he loves sports too. Love the music touch in Johnny's room. He does have that hobby in FreeTime. The guest room looks like that Chole or Lola would sleep in if they were visiting their dad, stepmum/half sister and niece and nephew/half siblings. (I know, the Smith/Curious family tree is messed up!) Oh, the cake's for Johnny, BTW.
Here's what I did for the Smith Family. Poll and Jenny couldn't conceive a third child, so they ended up adopting a teenager instead: a townie named River Smith. River was shocked to be in a clan of aliens, but because he was showered in kindness, River thrived in his new home. He hopes to be a gamer someday, and quickly befriended his new brother and sister.
Johnny and later River ended up going to college [basically, I played the scripted event, aged Johnny down again, and then sent him off to University]. Johnny hopes to become a champion soccer star, and he's still together with Ophelia. River also ended up with the townie April Zhang from Garden Heights. (Sims Pet Stories neighbourhood)
Young Jill is aspiring to be a deep sea welder and is working closely with Angela Pleasant, who dreams of becoming a fishing boat captain. Jill is also dating Buck Grunt, who are deeply bonded over their love for animals.
Omg your Smith family story is so wholesome. ❤️ And I definitely think Chloe and Lola would use the guest room while visiting, that's kind of why I invited them to cameo during the ending scenes.

It is funny--you mentioned comments about people saying you inspired them to get back into Sims 2. I wish that was me, but each time I try to get the Sims 2 running, it runs like a nightmare and I always end up with corruption no matter how much maintenance I do. Still, it's so fun to see videos of people getting to enjoy their games, even if it does leave me jealous and longing to play Veronaville again. Sigh.
It does run like a nightmare on new PCs, unfortunately. :< I bought a new gaming laptop that's got perfect specs and runs new games with ultra graphics with no issues, but ts2 still does what it does. (random crashes, pink flashing) It's just not optimized for new machines and the fixes are only partially helpful at best. It's 20 years old, after all... :(

I totally agree with you about sims 3 and their looks, it is offputting for me, I don’t like the graphics and that is why I was never into that Game. I have never played it too, so yeah! I would love to see someone play sims 3 for the first time so I could discover the Game with you! Maybe we actually would like it

Loveli build as always!! & I agree with your comment about how not everything needs to be a professional money making scheme. I lost enjoyment for illustrating and abandoned it for a while because i felt pressure to monetize it after i started an art account in highschool that ended up having a bit of a following. But i'm slowly getting back into drawing and painting again after removing that expectation. Im thinking of it how i did as a kid. I dont need to do it for a practical purpose or with some end goal in mind. I can just draw for the love of drawing.
A bit late to this comment, but as an artist I can relate! My insta was decently big at a certain point and I was selling prints and getting commissions... which was amazing and I am grateful for those days! 🧡 but it kind of sucks the soul out of things when you're expected to be a social media influencer/manager first rather than just a person sharing their craft/hobby.
Actually desert at night times are extremely cold so a fireplace makes a lot of since in most houses
Both the birthday cake and the buffet table are there for Johnny by the way. The prescripted Maxis event when you start this family is to "throw a birthday party" since Johnny is one day away from becoming an adult :)

I LOVE the mermaid items for kids in TS2! They're from the Family Fun stuff pack, and they make perfect sense for Jill Smith, I never read her bio so I never knew about her marine life interest before!
Family Fun Stuff, thanks for pointing that out! I wish ts2 would show which pack objects came from, just like ts4 does with the icons, it would be helpful. I didn't know anything about Jill and her room was mostly empty so reading her bio gave me the inspo for her room decor.

I love your build. Sims 2 is my absolute favorite of the sims. I was there when it came out. I agree with the sims 3 thing. It looks so much the same. I wasn't a fan of watching build until I came across your channel I hope u do let's plays with all your hard work. I am looking forward to your story lines

The Sims 3 is gonna need some CC and mods but the gameplay is really fun! Sims 2 is still that girl but Sims 3 is worth it.

wow! I really liked how you changed the second floor bathroom, I never liked how EA designed the original layout of the second floor, I'll have to change it in my game now I have some inspiration.
Feel free to steal any inspiration and ideas for your own builds! :D The second floor just wasn't optimal, even in tiny houses I try to utilize the space as much as possible.

I play both TS2 and TS3, I find that TS3 works really well to put your sims in there and cause chaos around town. 😈 But for a more life-sim / grow your neighbourhood type gameplay, better stick to TS2. A lot of the features that are really important to TS2 players are lost in TS3.

I only play legacy style gameplay on the sims 2, the amount of ghosts on my lot is crazy my game is so unhinged lmao
lmfao omg that would drive me insane. Whenever I have a family with lots of ghosts on the lot I build their house on a foundation because ghosts can't climb stairs lol or at least I've never experienced it, they only hover out in the garden this way

Amazing makeover! ❤ The garden and backyard area in this house is quite a nightmare to me, they never manage to trim the bushes and it all ends up overgrown. Anyways another great job you had done 🎉 You inspire me to try and redo the Smiths house!
I've given up maintaining super huge gardens, they always die within a week - I downloaded a mod that prevents flowers from decaying and another one that allows sims to trim inaccessible bushes. :D
Sims 3 i admit is great, it is the only sims game that i downloaded BUT if you play it vanilla style no mod whatsoever then prepare for lagging and bugged path that can cause crashes.... if you wanna play sims 3 be sure to download mods to ensure smooth (mostly) gameplay such as nraas overwatch. I can never go back to vanilla sims 3 ever again.

I like Sims 3 exactly for the reason you hate it :D It was always boring for me to control my sims too much and decide their whole life, even in Sims 4 with all the mods I made it so my sims choose their own life, traits, partners, careers, who to hate and who to love, even how many kids to have, I feel like it makes it much more interesting than when you control their every step :D

Love the build! How do you get your graphics to be so good? Also what PC do you play on? Right now I can only play on my MacBook so the quality isn’t the greatest but your game play looks amazing!
I play on a Lenovo LOQ Series gaming laptop. It's really good and I can play brand new games at ultra settings, but the sims 2 is of course 20 years old and struggles on new systems. I suggest looking up osab's The Sims 2 Setup Guide specifically for their graphic's setup instructions. I am not sure if all of the fixes apply to Mac computers. Personally, I don't use reshade, I just set my game to the highest possible resolution, max settings on everything + I use dreadpirate's maxis match lighting mod.

I'm using lots of default replacements for eyes, skin, hair, clothes, makeup etc. and other custom content to make my sims look better, unfortunately it's not one specific thing I can point out. I always suggest starting out with default replacements, I find mine from here sims2defaults.dreamwidth.org/

Under change photo my only option is Black and the option above I have all this « Equilibre » option but no family name and when I choose one option I have defaults like Grim Reaper or NPC’s
I tried to search what’s wrong but I can’t put my finger on it… did you have an idea ? Thanks in advance 😬😊
