This is a very good video, it's nice to get some perspective from someone who is NOT trying to sell you one off their Dealer Lot. Having owned a AWD Passport Touring since March-2019, I can add a few things, there were a couple of errors, not your fault, but first the Factory CD player is NOT available on the Elite due to it having the Cellphone Charging Pad, if you want the BIG Stereo AND a CD Player, go for a Touring Model, next I recall that the lower model(s) do not have the LED headlights. Lastly, I took my Passport on some dirt roads that were on the Eastern side of the same Sierras (as Yosemite) and even with the stock 20 Wheels it handled fine. Cheers!

On a beautiful twisty dirt road trail like this “soft roading” and as a family car that will save you MPG driving your kids around all year in Snow and Rain, this AWD Honda Passport really takes the cake. It is not going to crawl over rocks in moab like a lifted 4Runner; however it is also not going to struggle to get 19 mpg from a 5 speed automatic like my friend’s 4Runner. The Passport rides and handles like a much lighter car, a lot like the older Acura RDX and MDX models with SH-AWD. When Lori mentioned the Honda Passport as better handling than the Subaru Crosstrek that was eye opening.
Don’t forget, the Honda Passport was proudly made right here in America! Indiana, USA 🇺🇸 💪

Pretty sure this Passport will prove to be much more reliable than the Izuzu built first generation model. Everyone I know that had them had catastrophic mechanical problems. Bringing the original Passport to the market, just in order to fill an suv void in the line up may have single handedly been the worst decision the Honda Company ever made.

Great review! This seems like a perfect vehicle for the daily driver, with the occasional drive into the mountains. I’ve always thought the 4Runner was best, but that seems more suited for true off-road folks that crawl through rocks and aggressive slopes. I’ve never done that, so this seems perfect.
My only question is, how reliable is that electronic shifter over time? Seems like it has much more potential to have issues over time, but only time can tell. I would just be nervous about that being an expensive fix after a few years.

Exactly. I own a 2020 Honda Passport AWD and viewed to see some "off-highway" driving and only witnessed dirt road driving that our 2015 Honda CR-V 2WD can/does easily handle. Fail 👎🏼

If you are willing to spend over $40,000 on an SUV, then you might as well get a 4Runner TRD Off-road. It is far more capable than a Passport.

I love the Subaru Outback’s boxer engine and standard AWD no doubt. They’ve really improved with impressive MPG compared to their older models. But the Subaru uses a CVT transmission that isn’t quite as bulletproof as the Honda Passport’s V6 traditional automatic transmission with iVTM4 AWD.

I test drove one , very sluggish 🐌, gets up about the same as my 2000 Avalon, my 2016 Avalon 269hp gets up way faster with a full load. I’d still buy it, but it’s not fast at all, and the engine has a horrible rattle at 6krpm , but again, it’s not for racing , for overlanding and city , I’d think it’s a great suv and wallet friendly . If your about power and speed, stay away, don’t wanna spend much on gas ⛽️ and don’t mind being passed up on the road, buy it .

I know that H has a lot of SUVs and PICKUP truck in the H lineup at H, I'm wondering where does the H PASSPORT fall in to the lineup. I know that it's H ACCORD H CIVIC (H's 2 different SUVs the CIVIC sadan and the CIVIC Hatchback as well) their pilots, etc. Thanks for saying what the MSRP is for the H PASSPORT ELITE? When your doing a H SUV do an H ACCORD SPORT or something?

It sounded like the gravel hitting the underside was very tinny and loud. Does the camera do that or was it that way in person? One of our complaints of Hondas is the road noise. Is it any better on pavement? I realize that a gravel road is going to be louder. I have driven a lot of them. Just want something that will eat up a lot of mile and not drone and be loud like the CR-V.

Test drove the Passport yesterday. Felt slow on acceleration & lots of plastics that had rough edges. But the seats were comfy, a/c was very cold, brakes work great, plenty of cargo room and 2nd row space. Another complaint I have is the grab handle on the doors revealed a door card that had lots of give to it, not built very solid but probably won’t ever be a huge problem.

Who uses timing belts anymore ? People don’t want the added expense of changing a timing belt in a V6. Also I just got rid of a 2014 Accord that drank oil, used a quart every 1K miles and Honda says this was acceptable, sorry but I ended up going back to a Toyota 4R that will have better resale value and is built better.

I have the Pilot with the same gloss black interior trim and I hate it, huge dust magnet, always looks bad! I wish Honda would offer another finish option. I plan to eventually replace my Pilot with a Passport. I have never understood the big deal about the volume dial, I always use the volume buttons on the steering wheel, much more convenient and I don’t have to take my hand off of the steering wheel to use them. I wish Honda would include a heater switch in the climate controls. With their current setup, you have to keep jacking the temperature button up over and over to get the heater to come on, a stupid omission. They give you an A/C switch but no heater switch.
