I will start digging ditches. I continue work on the 1.8 km forest road. The topsoil is almost removed, so I have to start digging ditches. This time I'll show you how I set up a laser to start digging a ditch. Many have asked for it. The texts in the video are in English. If you do not understand English, you can try to translate yourself. But I will try to put subtitles in some of the most popular languages. But I don't know if the subtitles will be translated correctly. Laser installation is sometimes complicated, such as this time on video. When everything is wet and muddy around. Been watching excavating videos for a while now. I find them very interesting. I was in the Army Engineers in 1958. I wanted to learn equipment operation but they needed a machinist.
That was me. :O)
I was excited to find your' video that explained, I'll call it gridding for lack of a better word. I figured you were using something like an altimeter with a laser because I know altimeters have been installed in wrist watches for quite a while. I had one years ago. I used to fly.
I'm sure I would have enjoyed operating heavy equipment. Maybe not knee deep in mud. LOL
Any way I'm not completely sure how you set it up but I will watch this a few more times to try to understand. Just for my own know how. I'm 86 and don't learn so easy. Thanks so much for the demo. I liked and subbed.

Thanks for showing the laser setup, never excavated with one on the boom to a gradient. Great once setup, no need to get out of the cab for a while....Happy Days

Interesting to see the laser set-up. Some of my earlier memory as a kid is of my grandfather sneaking me onto site on a Sunday to hold the extendable grade measuring stick thing for him while he was setting out foundations for residential house building. That was back in the 1980s before lasers and computer, just a theodolite with a telescope viewer on it to read the measurements with 😁
That is still used alot today. Its much easier to use depending on what kinda work your doing.
