Are those peel back decals or water slide ones? Thinking of getting a reissue Grasshopper or Hornet, but never had any experience with waterslide decals.
Hi, I know this video is a few years old now but I’m currently looking at getting this kit, never done one before - can you help me out and let me know what extra bits I’ll need , I.e will I need any glues, what are the paint codes etc. ? I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks
Your asking now, paint is just what I decided to do. More personal touch. Least that’s how I recall it to be, no glue, thou I do recommend using ur own grease an don’t be tight with it. Needs a servo an full radio system
What do you recommend as an ESC unit as well as transmitter/receiver combination? Also a good motor upgrade that will plug into the ESC? I just purchased the kit and I am looking for options that will not cost a fortune.
Use the standard stuff with kit, just to get you going. Radio I use ec3. I think that’s what it’s called. Maybe ep3. Been a little while. So apologies I can’t recall. As for esc an motor combo, well depends what you want out of it, the goul brushless set up for £30 ish, although a little cheap nasty, is not a bad bang for your buck, If you want something sensible a hobby wing 1080 if I got the digits right is great, again could be 1060, ones a crawler esc other ones a basher type. As for the motor, anything lower then 21 turns will be a lot better then then the standard motor in this box
This kit didn’t. Rumoured Tamiya have done it. But I assume if honest just models shops actually adding extras needed on top of the kit. As I never seen a box that suggest anything but the kit alone. Be careful thou as shop shops remove the esc and the kit price is cheaper then the average price.
Hi I built an original hornet when I was in my teens took me a weekend. I've currently got another original one but I've tried converting it using a ubec but have confused myself now at the age of 53 currently stuck on how to move forward. Nightmare!! I connect the battery up but it acts weird 💩 wondering if I'd be better off selling it all to someone who knows what they are doing and buying a new decent model. Already made.?? Any suggestions?
Personally buying old kits built is a no no, if your struggling now. A ready to run kit is great. But personally take it to a model-shop there sort it cheap and in next to know time, I’d happily assist, but ping pong messaging is so slow, and leads to further frustration usually
I got the grasshopper after I saw this vid.
thx for all the info :)
There are more coming. Sadly just haven’t had time to upload.
Love that buggy, but what was your driving all about? Just what was that?🤣🤣🤣
Trouble is, purely picked wrong surface, wrong conditions. An should of waited, but hey it’s really a build video if anything
Cool video!!
I have grasshopper too.
It's nice RC.
I installed 540 torque tuned motor.
It's exciting more than normal motor.
I recommend it.
Certainly is more fun
Can't wait to build mine out!
How u get on

This seems a lot smaller than mine back in about 1986. Who knows.
Same tooling. So it’s just you got bigger anything shrinks lol
did it come with the remote, paint, and battery?
