@@3dproje i havent noticed any more turbo lag than stock, but it definitely pulls much harder now with the increased capacity of cool air getting fed into the turbo. It also helps the motor stay cooler when I'm at the track on a hot day.
Hey Theo! first of all you’re awesome man! Second I need help with my mini. I’m getting two codes: 287e and 2885. I ran a diagnostics but do you have any clues as to what or where to start looking. Thanks
Did the intercooler help maintain intake air temps? My girlfriend and I just picked up a 2014 Mini Cooper s 6 speed for her. I am looking to do bolt ons and stage 2 tune at some point.
It takes a bit longer for the car to warm up. You really feel the engine breathing more. Idk how i can explain it. However the real moment you see the intercooler shining is when you tune it. To keep the intake temp low, you need to do everything to ensure heat does not come close to the intake area. My intake temp are usually a few degrees lower than the ambient temp during driving. When I stop it increase a bit.
Yes, you should. The PCM can only compensate for so much fuel to add the engine given the air volume supplied from the MAF sensor. But most people don't tune after so no harm no foul. May get lean codes though.
Great video, thank you so much! Considering doing this job on my N18 Cooper before having it tuned as well. How big of a difference does it really make?
@@3dproje it really shouldn't, air flows through both coolers. I have a big intercooler like this, and with my Ultraugauge it still shows coolant temperatures of around 98 degrees Celsius when warm. It doesn't overheat.
They would normally function the same way. However, built quality sometimes differ between the cheap ones and $$ ones. However, some cheap ones like the one I got have good quality. Thanks
Just installed my intercooler after watching this video series, thanks for making these, you’ve got a new subscriber!
Thanks Adam! I am happy I was able to help with the video.
Hey Adam, have you noticed any difference, does it increased the turbo lag?

@@apridgen thanx for reply 🙏🏼
Excellent video and the introduction of the process makes it even better. Keep up the good work!
How did your intercooler hold up from now until then?
Did the crash bar go back on easily after installing the cooler?
Yup it did!
Thank you 🙏
do you have to bleed the coolant before swapping intercoolers?
There is no coolant in the intercooler. This is an air cooled intercooler
Hey Theo; do you have a vid for installing a blow off valve for the mini?

Thanks buddy! I’d suggest asking this exact question in the mini forum. www.northamericanmotoring.com/

@@TorvekMotors how/whered you get it tuned?
Dont you need to tune the car afterwards since the innercooler is bigger?
Yes, you should. The PCM can only compensate for so much fuel to add the engine given the air volume supplied from the MAF sensor. But most people don't tune after so no harm no foul. May get lean codes though.
Can you tell me what is that for
Thanks mate very helpful
Bro where did u jack up the car in front? Oil pan?
I jacked up the car from the jack point. Not sure if the video shows it.

Thanks! The temperature dropped a little. But the engine didn’t feel cripple like it did before.
@@TorvekMotors bigger IC blocks some part of radiator, does it badly effect cooling performance? Thnx

@@ZwolseZwerver thnx for reply dexter, does it moves between 98 and 104 degrees?
Is there any benefit from getting a $700 intercooler vs. $170

170$ one will work just fine.
Anyone know the dems or brand / link?
