I had a genuine one from Mercedes; I returned it, too. The parts guy spoke to one of the technicians, and he said that's how they come, and when you torque them up, they are fine.
If that was me doing dual mass flywhee. I would have send back every single of them thinking they are faulty, I have learned something new from you on this video , yes every manufacturing is designed differently
Hi baz we had exactly this problem a couple weeks back on Mercedes c220 diesel.sent for a replacement it was the same so I thought I would fit anyway .the car was all good so this must be normal.I did think it was damaging transit but everything has been fine.ive been spannering for 36 years now . Keep up the good work
Brother in law works for a large motor factors. A big one but not the yellow and blue one. He often said to me that competition is savage and the garages suffer because of that. Rather than tell you, the garage, next day for your part they will supply a similar part and order the correct part in the background. This is done to get the sale and not lose customer to their competition. When the part is identified as incorrect the correct part is ready to supply the garage. Obviously this is done on high value big margin parts. I believe him. We live and learn. 👍🏻
You never stop learning. The problem is when somebody thinks they know everything. A true professional always remembers that there is always something to learn.

Every day is school day, Baz - was doing a Honda timing belt today & went along with the last crowd who changed it, I.E fitted all the bolts they had including all the tensioner bolts I'd removed. Wasn't one bit happy with the tension on the belt.. Nope - it just seemed slightly loose. YT being yer Pal, I went watched umpteen "Doing this Honda belt" videos.. they all did it exactly as I had, using all the same amount of bolts. Hmmm.. Up popped one Old Boy doing the job - I watched it half bored.. "This one bolt is an installation aid, do not leave it fitted.." he goes - which nobody else had done.. They'd all left it fitted in their "Mis-Tutorials".. Went out, binned off that small bolt & Viola, belt tension went mintier than a bag of crushed Polos - who knew? I'm just amazed more Hondas don't crap the bed due to loose belts, because it seems very few know this little tid-bid of information.. Or maybe they do crap the bed.. because I was doing the belt due to piston to valve contact & having had the head off to fix that.... Think I know why it died now.. that little sneaky bolt..

Done exactly the same thing with the last mondeo flywheel. Sent them all back and then had a call saying it was normal. Every days a school day in the motor trade.
On the honda goldwing motorcycle you can get centramatic wheel balancers, they are a disc that bolts to the wheel to help keep the vibrations down. Im guessing the flywheel is the same idea, full of marbles that find their way to balance themselves
I remember when the £50 clutch plate had the springs in to give a smoother change now it's the £600 dual mass flywheel (I know which I'd rather pay out for a replacement).
Great video as usually , in your opinion if you do a clutch and you get a judder with the new one could it be the clutch plate or just the aliment of the plate ?
Why do we do our job Baz ?, I am 61 , every day is a school day, every day is getting harder and harder , plan A B C D E and F sometimes comes into play , today ,bottom ball joint Nissan Interstar, (Renault Master ,Vauxhall Movano ) 22 plate 108k miles, ball joint absolutely tight as F , would not undo , had to break it into about 25 pieces , decided at 7.30 the customer can wait until tomorrow, hate our job, ive done a few of these clutches , not come across this , but we carry on learning for 45p a day 🤬🤬🤬
I had the same shit when i done a dsg transporter flywheel i got from TPS, It's worrying When you re changing the flywheel, because of the bad noise from the flywheel and they sound like that 😅
Thats a nice diagnostic tool and printer, you have all the gear! I would definitely be caught out with the dual mass rattling like that. I'm going to google them to see what is the operating principle for a centrifugal dual mass, it has me stumped but it sounds like a freewheel hub on a sturmey archer bicycle hub at a guess?
So is it a schaeffler design the centrifugal weights in the DMF ,going by your reaction there’s no other DMF that has this ? Every day is a school day ,a service bulletin in the kit should be done by the manufacturer ,they said themselves Theresa been lots of confusion
Can a bad dual mass flywheel cause vibration. My 216d is vibrating a little. It's not bad enough to feel it in the cabin but is noticeable with the bonnet open? Also when I'm sat in traffic for a long time I start to get clutch judder. No slipping at all tho.
@@zzhughesd a clutch can fail for many reasons I can't remember the mileage... Unfortunately I don't put any prices on parts of labour as I like to keep it fair

A breath of fresh air to hear someone being so honest. Respect
If only they would put a little bulletin in the box to save all the hassle of thinking its faulty!

Baz .I took my box of crunchy nut cornflakes back, because when I shook the box they were broken. They laughed at me at the shop. Great video.
Which brand? 🎉
If that was me doing dual mass flywhee. I would have send back every single of them thinking they are faulty, I have learned something new from you on this video , yes every manufacturing is designed differently
It wasn't you that screwed up... it was the manufacturers. When something like this sounds broken, a little paper note should have been included.
Maybe they should put a special notice in the box with the flywheel. Top work Baz 👍
