    This man has the most important quality every pilot should have: self control. He stayed calm, used his his common sense and listened to the controller's advice instead of panicking and letting it go. Kudos, wonderful job!

      @I Love Aviation - Burger Club - always open. I just retired from a 45 year pilot career, of which 12 as an instructor and I rarely seen a student doing the landing at the first lesson. I've offered some of them to try but had to take over before or during the flare out most of the time. I can recall a guy or two who lsnded by themselves, just relying on my talking but they were quite talented and exceptional people.

    Landing the airplane on the runway smoothly is the most difficult task for a private pilot to learn. My first solo was about 16 hours, so It took me around 15 hours before I could perform a landing well. Landing is more like an art form than a straightforward task. It's amazing to me that this guy landed a big, heavy Caravan so smoothly! I wouldn't be surprised if he has some flight simulator time or has held a control yoke in his hands before.

What is going on CNN and the Today Show, why the LOUD silence about who that man is?

      I think you are misunderstanding. This isn't one of those big airbus/plane that carries lots of passengers, you can see from the video, also the flight controller said he had to go get a manual specifically for the control layout that plane, because it's probably those that are used as "private jets". So of course, you won't have a co pilot in it, and neither an attendant probably.

    Not knocking someone’s ability from no experience but I find it very hard to believe that the average member of the populace with ZERO flying experience can actually land an airplane. I’ve taken up over four dozen people in the past 10 years and I’ve allowed most if not all of them to fly the plane and it’s almost a near impossible task for them. But landing a plane????? Every time I hear of a miraculous story like this the so-called civilian had like 30 hours of flight training and never actually completed the training to get the license. 🤨 i’m pretty certain this guy is at least a simmer …………..or something. I know the last six stories I investigated personally of individuals like this landing a plane every one of them had some form of flight experience or were serious flight enthusiast when the story came out alleging that they “didn’t”.

    • @crooked-halo
      @crooked-halo ปีที่แล้ว

      Most jetliners have what's called "CAT III auto land" capability. On this type of ILS approach the plane actually flies the approach and lands on the runway while the pilots do nothing except monitor the plane & approach/landing. This type of landing is totally automatic, the pilots touch nothing, but planes as small as the Cessna Caravan such as in this video do not have this capability.
