    Hi @Bluewizzard
What do I need to play this simulator? Do I need the subscription?
And how much Diskspace are you using for your installation
    Hopefully you can help. Greetings

I used to like playing this game, but with all the assets going wrong it got to be a big pain, so I gave up playing it. I think TS12 was the best one I had, after that the rest was a disaster for me. Plus a lot of modellers I used to know either left or died, so I lost interest in the game. I recently had a look to see what it's like and if it's got any better. Would you say a lot of things are still the same? It's pretty shocking how many items that used to be in the first generation are still there. I only made one map for trains and that was Fallowfield. Although I made some private massive maps for myself made up from conversions of other people's maps. I think the price now is £65 per year, which seems ridiculous for the standard trains plus. Especially when there's so much wrong with it. And most of the work is done by the modellers and ardley anything has been done by Trainz themselves. We were promised a new game engine in Tane, but that was a lie. do you get the new editor or do you have to pay extra for that?

You only get the new editor if you subscribe. If you buy 22 you only have access to what they call the Classic editor.
I believe N3V made a mistake creating a new game engine for Trainz. I think like Dovetail did with Train Simulator they should have kept doing small revisions to it so they could contrinue to release dlc and then released a completely new game. If you look at what Dovetail did, they managed to keep a revenue stream going with their old game and get multiple new revenue streams from their new games.
But I don't just believe that because of money. The expectation created can never be met with such a large change. The new Trainz was different and stuff had been removed that was in previous gamesm and lots of people saw it as a step backwards rather than forwards. It was only ever going to lead to disapointment.
Tane onwards aren't bad games. They certainly have their issues and I too have had many crashes mainly on 19. What holds them back is their backward compatibility. I can only imagine the amount of code that has needed to be added to acheive this.
Tane did have a new game engine. It also introduced a new and far more optimised method to display assets. The issue is as you say that most of the assets were made before Tane was released and didn't use this new method. Wnen I started this series I wanted to see if a route could be made using assets only made from Tane onwards for that reason. There are far more newer assets now but honestly no I couldn't acheive it. Technically it's possible but it would have been a massive compromise.
I enjoy building in Trainz and I can even get past its compromises. The thing personally I don't like is teh business practice. I'm fine them having a subscription to access routes. But a subscription to unlock bits of the game... I just don't feel comfortable with. They like many other companies see subscription as the way forward though as it means a monthly income rather than having to constantly chase new sales so I don't see this changing.
I have the final reveal episode to make and then it'll likely be another year before Trainz goes on the channel again. As I say I enjoy building in it but I also enjoy buidling in games like Transport Fever. But the difference is Transport Fever only takes 1.5hrs max to make an episode including ediiting where as this takes maybe 4-5hrs. And both get the same number of views. Even so I enjoyed making the series and glad I made it. The last ep will be out around Xmas. All the issues talked about in this vid are rectified and I'm just creating lines now.

@@bluewizard I agree with you about Transport fever 2, It's a good game, I like it very much I find it very interactive, but it's not as complex as Trainz, I thought they went downhill ever since tane myself, I found the menus terribel The bugs were horrific It was a right mess I was Part of the beta testers In fact, it was because of Tane that I stopped being a beta tester for them It looked to me like they was bolting on new parts onto the old Game engine but it was a right mess I never played it and never bothered with Trainz until a year ago when I bought TS 2019 on steam, I thought that charging for Platform tickets was a bit of liberty. They are charging too much for this game as it is and it's far from a polished, finished game. I think I'll be sticking with transport fever too for some time to come.
