Had no way of knowing about Rinne-Rebirth or the functions of the Rinnegan. I could imagine the losses ravaged Narutos mind the entire Pain encounter, he was already close to the edge. Watching Hinata be murdered so flippantly right in front of him was what pushed him over. We literally got to watch it happen in Narutos face and eyes the moment when he relinquished all control to Kurama. It was bone chilling seeing our Shonen Protag. for the first and honestly only time he desperately wanted to KILL an opponent by any means necessary. I honestly don't think they can top this fight.
