Well he made that look easy...especially the wiring. Halogen ovens are a great example of how manufacturers don't want people to be able to do what should be a simple bulb replacement. They'd much prefer that people just bought a new oven when the bulb blows.

The manufacturers clearly don't want you to be able to replace the bulb. It's a terrible design. They want you to throw it all away and buy a complete new one. What a wasteful society we are forced to live in.

This guy is a pro. Looks like he works in the assembly line, browsing at the tools and bits he's got on the work bench, woah! BTW, this model needs one hell of work to finish. To me, I would take a photo before each step to ensure parts will return to the same place when finish. Heard Cantonese @ 1:47 and from the power plug configuration, guess it's shot in Hong Kong.

I once took this lid only half apart to clean some rust off. It took me 10 mins to take a few screws and bolts out, then took me over an hour to put it back to together, cause I couldn't remember exactly how to do it 🤦‍♂️ This dude strips it , replaces the bulb and puts it back together in 6min & 55 secs 😳 FML 😂

I did mine like this but there is a simpler way using a ceramic block joiner, if you are not that experienced I would go for the block method as there is very little dismantling that's what I may do in future, you need tools and crimping joiners for the method shown here. I had problems with twisting the wires together and getting them into crimp joiner, some came loose every time I tried to crimp them, frustrating.
It looks like he is using a brand new appliance which makes everything much easier. whatever method clean the bulb with alcohol after touching it as your skin oils will create hot spots which will overheat the bulb. and burn it out quicker !
These appliances are very cheap in the UK on Amazon ,frankly I may even buy a new one next time and save a lot of hassle.!!!

You can also cut the wires off the bulb (after you first remove the circular holder) leaving room on the wires to attach them to a ceramic wire block. Then you attach the new bulb wires into the block and place the bulb in its proper place. Easier then this complete breakdown.

Bloody hell, all that just to change a bulb? There is a quicker way of doing it which i saw in another video. You just cut the old bulb off leaving enough wire to attach the new bulb. I would put small connectors on the wire from the oven. That way you just pull the old bulb out next time and reattach the new bulb via the connectors.

Replaced mine in half the time of this video, however, discovered that element sent from China was for 220 volts (not 110-120 US) so I got to replace it twice... Friendly warning: most of the world outside of US is 220-240 AC.

The link for the other video is for a different model with a much easier panel to detach bulb. Unfortunately, this model requires much work. I’m unsure how to reconnect the black temperature knob, it is loose. If anyone has successfully completed this & knows how to attach that knob or dial please comment.

Bulb has no removable connections, requires removal of crimps for servicing.
It is very likely that the average home user would mix wires up and electrocute themselves.
The bulb should have a dedicated connection that is easily removable.
Also the power and heat indicator lights form part of the main circuit, if they blow the cooker will not work.
Can anyone tell me what type/ rating of bulbs the indicator lights actually are.?

  • @davidhudson8471
    @davidhudson8471 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I think halogen ovens a great for cooking but are let down buy the design and the fact that the bulbs are only guaranteed for 3 months so based on current cost if you replaced it every 3 months would work out £40 a year for the bulbs that assumes one could change the bulb oneself but if you had to send in to the suppler would encore extra costs for postage and handling. So all in all halogen ovens are in fact the worse oven every invented, I would prefer an air fryer less hassle.

Our identical Salter Air Fryer pro is now 6 yrs. old, ( sept 2022) it gets used almost every day at least once.
It's no hassle to wipe the majority of oils & grease out on a kitchen towel every time it's been used & has still got a litle warmth in it., The pan, lift & grid go in the dish washer for the cheap rate over night wash.
Every couple of days it's set on the 65 oC cleaning level, we add four or five drops of liquid soap / dish drops, then a pint & a half of boiling water to the main bowl with or without the grid & lift in place. Then close it up & set it for 12 to 20 min. cleaning, whilst we do other things.
After this time has elapsed allow it to cool to hand hot, unplug it and simply wipe the crud off using a micro fibre cloth & the hot soapy water in the bowl. Remove the bowl & then use the hot soapy cloth to clean the inside and outside of the glass & plastics.
Don't get too energetic doing this or you'll rub off the decals showing temp and what to cook.
      Useful tip :-
I've used this TH-cam clip to photograph the decals then used a fine ball tip in my Dremel to engrave & re-mark the information so it won't rub off again .

    • @takew4694

I just changed mine. Assuming you were talking about the nut holding the fan, as with most nuts on a motor spindle, this one is left hand thread, you turn clockwise to loosen. Watch carefully at 0:20, he was holding the nut stationary with the pair of pliers and rotating the fan anti-clockwise, effectively turning the nut clockwise.
