I've watched every single one of these episodes probably twenty times each, going back to when they originally aired, and I love them each time. Thank you for these. Such simpler times. It eases my anxiety down to a three on the scale of ten. Thank you again FRT.
I love this show so much... i first saw it back in the early sixties when i was 8 yrs old in the DAYTIME when i was sick home from school the nostalgia is thick for me the show still holds up eh? lol
@@rckkeller9437 I'm glad you mentioned Millie because she did look a lot better in the last season. Longer hair made her look younger, and more stylish than her short, cropped hairstyles from the earlier seasons. But, I agree with you. Millie's wool sweater and skirt set looked nice. As well as, the suit she wore at the restaurant. 👏👏👏
She was always good as Millie, often stealing a scene. It was so fun seeing her appearing on the sitcom Seinfeld (as Evelyn in the episodes _The Pen_ and also _The Cadillac_ ) I know she had done other stuff later in life but this was the show I remember recognizing her in instantly.
That $42.50 he paid for those tickets in 1966 is worth about $402.08 today! 👀(Edit: 23:54~, Isn't that Carl Reiner singing about 'Moocows going moo moo'?)
in this case, it was one of the performers from "The Solid White Zebra", on Jerry's "mini-tapee". Carl was also the voice of the unseen "Mr. Sobelman" at 3:54.
Why did she call that woman her very best friend ?she hasn't seen her since grammar school. She knew Millie a lot longer. Grown women or not that would be annoying.
They used this premise on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Mary makes friends with a woman who dents her car, and Rhoda feels cut out until Mary discovers the woman is anti-Semitic (as well as not paying her debts) and cuts HER out.
It was already done on I LOVE LUCY; "The Housewarming". (Lucy gets chummy with Betty Ramsey, which hurts Ethel's feelings, until Betty and Ethel find out they are both from the same hometown and become friends, which in turn leaves Lucy in the cold.)
Weelll you might say it's an update. Rhoda may have been cut out but she obviously never made friends with the lady and cut Mary out. Plus I say it's an update because the subject matter of Anti-semitism would have never been aired in the 60's compared to the no holds bar All In The Family 70's.
If most of the record hadn't been lost, we might have found the same story line in a comedy play written by Aristophanes almost 2500 years ago. And another lost play where Athena becomes angered at a mortal who prefers to ride her horses rather than to drive her horse-drawn chariot, and turns him into a singing monkey. Then vengeful Athena takes out her wrath on a demigoddess, who has taken Athena's place on the cheerleading squad, by making her become infatuated with the singing monkey. Under Athena's spell, the demigoddess chases after the singing monkey until it gives in and invites her to a dance, which leaves Athena rolling with laughter on the floor of Mount Olympus.
I just noticed how stereotypically people thought in the 1960’s especially about foreign countries and nationalities. It may be because at that time international travel was just starting as in the 1950’s few but rich people traveled abroad. You can hear people in old TV shows mentioning a dream of at least once in their life going to Europe for a week. 50 to 100 years before that international travel was not for fun and one way as Europeans mostly emigrated to the Americas. We are in the post travel period 60 years after the 1960’s when travel has become again expensive and restrictive.
@@stevegottenbass Yes! There are Dentists who homes have a separate entrance for their dentist office that is attached to their homes. its quite common and have seen alot of this type of Dentist offices. Its not unusual and it is not in their home it is separate to their house with a separate Entrance for patients to enter outside. I am sure there is another door that goes to the dentist office for the privacy to the Dentist only to get to his Dental office.
My great-grandfather, who went to Harvard School of Dentistry -- without a previous university degree, as one could in the late 1800's-- had his office in their house in Rockland, Maine. It was the subject of a postcard, I don't know why. I don't know how he got interested in it. There hasn't been a dentist (or doctor, or nurse) on that side of the family before or since (and we know the family history back to 937 A.D.). He was artistically gifted, though, and was known for making very realistic false teeth.
Many of us recognize the scene here where Millie becomes jealous from a sixth season episode of _I Love Lucy_ set in Connecticut in which Lucy becomes pals with neighbor Betty Ramsey (played by Lucy favorite Mary Jane Croft), which causes Ethel to become annoyed; the scenes share a similar vibe. My big peeve with this episode is guest star Joby Baker who made at least two appearances on TDVDS during its run. Baker here is trying *way* too hard to be hilarious, particularly when we first see him. Seems as though his character had just guzzled a RedBull and gobbled a bunch of Pixie Sticks. It grates on me tremendously, and it smacks of desperation. He should have really taken it down a couple of notches. It's not a likable goofiness, it's something else entirely. Pity, because the guy is clearly nice looking, with a great head of hair. Baker eventually got his own sitcom but I'm told it was short lived; he played a radio DJ personality. th-cam.com/video/jWKZBoP5acs/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUKam9ieSBiYWtlcg%3D%3D
The only comment you ever leave is about people's excessive talking. It's about time to grow up, act like a big boy, and leave a proper comment for once.

“Well, I can’t go barging into people’s houses just like that!” “Millie, you’re one of the best bargers in the country…” 😂
Friendship is a really tricky thing. This holds true for sitcoms, as well as real life.

It’s still wonderful.
I'll say! Back when people knew the value of a good marriage and investing in relationships.
Absolutely, nostalgia is the perfect description.
I like Laura's outfit at the restaurant, and along with her stylish hairdo, she looks very modern & chic.
I loved Millie’s outfit, wool sweater and skirt. I used to wear those sets in the 60’s.

This highlights the essential differences between men and women, husbands and wives, and why we need each other.
Wasn’t the actor who played the new neighbor Fred the same who played the Spanish toreador in another episode?
Sure was!
Joby later co-starred with Ronnie Schell on Persky & Denoff's "GOOD MORNING, WORLD" (1967-'68).

There was an "I Love Lucy episode" exactly like this.
Why did she call that woman her very best friend ?she hasn't seen her since grammar school. She knew Millie a lot longer. Grown women or not that would be annoying.
She said she WAS her very best friend back in grammar school!
Origially telecast on May 4, 1966.
1966 - those were the days!!!
Whole east playing here:)
Thanks for the upload.💜
Was it intentional or was there something I just didn’t like about these new neighbors? I’m only half way through and I can’t stand them.
The writing definitely sets them up to rub you the wrong way. Youre *supposed* to feel bad for millie amd Jerry.
The new neighbors are gross and repulsive.
I first saw it 30+ years ago and I didn't like them. The woman is phoney and the guy pushy
Yeah, the husband always gave me creepy vibes when I’d see the episode
I never liked Joby Baker.

Joby Baker who Carl Reiner then used in Good Morning world in 1967

Jerry Helper practices dentistry out of the house?
His office was in his house
I grew up in California and thought that was strange too
Then I moved to Boston and found out that’s pretty common in the East
