Food! Wild camps= army rations+heater bags, normal camps= fresh, bushcraft camps= Dutch oven, car camps= down the pub for a pint and scampi and chips!!!
I much prefer fresh, home cooked food when out camping - rather than tinned/ freeze dried etc - but haven’t found a solution to keeping things cold (and therefore safe from bugs) for more than 24 hours. Hence I rarely go out for more than one night. But yes, a bit of luxury and decent food when I’m out is the way to go.
Really enjoy your program interesting to see you coping with all your new gear etc,and it must do you good to be able to get away for a few stress free days enjoy.
Hot dogs, steaks, baked potatoes, bacon and eggs, freeze dried meals, jerky, chocolate, fresh fish if I can catch it; pretty much anything I'd eat at home. Always tastes better in the woods! If I'm going for a couple days, I freeze meat, wrap it in layers in a towel and a cooler bag; then it all goes in my bedroll. The package I'm planning on eating that day goes into a another cooler bag with the rest of my food as an ice pack. The meat can stay frozen for a couple days if you wrap it good in layers and don't expose it much. I am going to try the reflective foil bubble wrap and see if it'll stay frozen longer. Nice trip, great vid! See ya next time!
Excellent set up you have there 👍 really like your camping stove ! Definitely the daddy of stoves 😁 most camping sites seem to be on a slope these days which is always a bit of a ball ache when you really need your cooking equipment to be level for best results!! As for camping food it has to be the traditional bugger off full English for me…..sausages eggs tomatoes mushrooms beans hash browns basically anything you can fit in an upside down bin lid as a plate ! 😀 can be eaten anytime of the day 💪
Great setup for a nice and toastie glamp. Fixed camp has to be Bacon and egg breakfast with a good stew for dinner. One nighter or backpacing would use an MRE pack. Once again a superb video. Keep them coming
Cool video lilu, food wise ,bushcraft camp wise, breakfast either porridge or full English, dinner can be anything from a beef curry to a morrocan vegetable tagine, or simply stuff like cheesy mash, steak and baked beans. For camps on 'family camp sites' with my kids (teens now), sausage or bacon rolls (not cobbs 😊), dinner ,could be a tagliatelle pasta, to sausage and mash type things, Then stealth wildcamping, be wet pouch meals (example uncle Ben's one pot creations, ) naked noodles with flatbread, pots of idaho cheesy mash with bacon bits etc, enjoying the videos, good health and safe travels, cheers craig
Sad about the sound issue but a Lilu smile makes us forget about all that. Lots of glam camping luxury - why not. I like you're wee power station. I hope you get some recovery. How did your exam go? Food - As I may have mentioned before I make my own ration packs/MRE's and so they are usually basic affairs; - Chili & rice, Salmon and Broccoli cob rolls - (the rolls are baked and when still warm i remove some of the hot inner - ouchie - and put in the Salmon, broccoli and sauce then wrap them in foil and place in mylar bag for later). Beef, Chicken, Veggie and Pork curries with rice and home made naans, cod & chips - buy fish and spuds from store and cook at camp - if over more than one night at the same camp. In summer it's pretty much bread rolls with a ploughman's lunch - proper job, butties and salads. (pop or 0% beer as i don't drink booze).
I loved druid temple around 8 years ago - I went back and it seemed to have lost its magic. As far as I'm aware the estate is fairly new, the cycle tracks were there and the trees used to surround the area much more. I said my my partner it seemed shorter and smaller - I'm sure it wasn't but I wasn't happy when I went back. Great video though!
SPAM is my "go to" camping food. In particular, fried SPAM & baked beans with HP sauce & black pepper. Wash it down with a bottle of wine & you're in heaven.
Hi, enjoying the videos. Just a quick comment on your carbon monoxide alarm - CO mixes with air so it doesn't naturally rise upwards like smoke. Having the alarm up in the air means you'll suffocate before it does off (sorry to be blunt) so you need it at head level or below. Keep safe 🙂
Good one. I do know that feeling when just setup for a peaceful camp and suddenly rent a crowd appears, happened to us last year and a group of 50 arrived 🙄, on the positive side provides great entertainment 😂
Another great wee video, its a shame about you getting mobbed by the overlanders, but I guess that is the problem with staying on camp sites. You have a brilliant set up there, you just need a Sizuki Jimny and you could get into some remote area's like up here in the Scottish Borders for a hot tent camp, in the wilderness. I'm looking forward to the next video when you take us on a walk with you. ATB Big Dave Scotland
Absolutely, I try and pick quiet basic campsites...the next day they'd all gone. Sadly they were noisy til 1am..slamming car doors and pitching tents in the early hours. No sleep but that's how it goes sometimes.
Hiya lilu see your power station you had your air fryer plugged into. Witch model is that please and what is the what power thanks Richard brilliant work keep it camping 🏕️
@richardperry9642 there should be links in the description to all the gear. Not sure if the code still works.. Highly eecommend both power stations...I use them in the house all the time. The Aferiy is 800w Brilliant piece of kit.
Loving the camping set up. Very cushty. Solo camping I like to keep my food simple so pasta, red pesto, a tin of tuna and plenty of parmesan is a favourite. Tuna sometimes replaced with chorizo and haloumi.
Great video.....made me smile. Definitely not lightweight! I mostly go backpacking so more often than not it's dehydrated meals by Summit to Eat. That's what I'm taking when I attempt the East Highland Way this coming May. Expensive but it does the job and tastes pretty good. Cheers. Ken
Love seeing another hot camping chica 😊. Jealous of your water tank. Keen to get the flue oven for mine. Nice video. How are you getting on with the tent? I have tipis but fancy a dome.
I haven't been out in it since this trip..i love the done xpro tho..I have a tipi too but am selling it as its too tall to pitch and no windows so gets too hot. Highly recommend the Baker Stove too
Hey again.... the circle was a tad disappointing indeed. However, nice to see you get into another hot tent.... I recently got myself a hot tent stove so am really keen to get out and try it. OK, as for the kindling, I have always taught a simple set up which I call the #HASHTAGFIRELAY.... just layer up in a criss-cross configuration and have your tinder (in your case looks like those BBQ lighter blocks) and it's really effective. What I would suggest is have a layer of thicker fuel (tinder/kindling/Fuel in terms of order of how fast they burn) without taking too much real estate inside your stove on which you jenga up your hashtag. My favourite meal so far is a mushroom risotto with garlic bread, I used to eat tons of meat but nearly 2 years ago I went plant based.
I hope your stress levels have decreased and the heel has gone. On my wildcamp I'm currently packing for tomorrow, straight after work, I'll have a Chili Con Carne. I make the chilli and heat seal them in a food bag. I then just heat it in a little water. If it's a long hike in or a multi day trip, I'll have dehydrated food that I buy, especially during winter when my sack is heavier. I camp almost every Friday, whatever the weather all year round. My head needs it. Thanks for the lovely video.
was just wondering what you been up too recently now we know😄my wild camping food go to is always sausage egg beans and bread 👨🍳another great video as always looking forward to part 2 😜
Wow! Lilu! You really know how to do the glamping! What an awesome setup! The campsite looks like a little gem and reasonably priced... Black Tourmaline keeps negative energy away too. It works!! Although the Roughneck would work quite well too!😊
@AdventuresWithLilu yes the dog! It came at every mealtime and waited patiently for scraps I don't normally feed dogs like that, but I couldn't resist😊
Sorry to be nerdy Lilu, but the way you set up your solar panel is such that half of the panel is facing the sun but the other half is facing away from the sun. Just an observation.
Just wondering how the air frying went. Its a 900 Watt appliance and even the larger power station you say you use is only rated at 800 Watts !! Car boot leak finally sorted ?

My G stove says put the bigger wood at the bottom, with kindling on top and light it! Have to say it works like a dream… happy hot tenting 😊
We had snow on Monday morning in bradford West yorkshire
It definitely felt cold enough!! I lit the stove in the morning it was freezing packing the tent down

How necessary / effective is the inner tent vs the outer tent? Outer tent can’t keep bugs out?
