    This channel has by far the most objective description of unit capabilities I've ever seen online. TH-cam's doing a disservice by not recommending you more. Best of luck seeing a wider audience

      Thank you for the comment. Greatly appreciated. I approach these as "intelligence-style" briefings, so I aim to be objective. Yes, fighting the algorithm is challenging. If you are able, please view and like the other briefings, and share with friends.

    Thanks for the video. How easily would it be to equip a large body of troops into light combined arms battlions should China need to mobilise for a ground war (e.g. Korean contingency)? Are they effective in rough terrain?

    • @Strategy_Analysis
      @Strategy_Analysis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Thanks @ENI. Compared to the vehicles in the Heavy and Medium Combined Arms Brigades, the vehicles are relatively cheap and easy to produce. And given China's industrial capacity, it could turn out a lot of these vehicles quickly. So yes, ideal for mobilisation. As a former Armoured Corps soldier, no one will convince me that wheels are better than tracks in very rough terrain (think about ground pressure). Having said that, these vehicles have good off-road mobility, and given their weight can be lifted by helicopters to cross difficult terrain. In terms of a "Korean contingency", I think this unit (structure, vehicles, and other equipment) would be very useful.

      I don't think this formation is for mass mobilization. no one on earth can threat China enough to call mass mobilization

    Great briefing mate! Your introduction sounded similar to an Aust gov announcement this week ;) maybe our two battalions in Brisbane will be restructured in a similar way. Anyway excellent work mate!

      Thanks. Much appreciated. I'll do another briefing once more info comes out on the restructure.

    The PLA has started to use the disassembled 120 mortars of the 181 car family, previously the PLA used 100MM caliber, now uses 120 caliber floating sleeve mortars, made of lighter alloy, but it is not known which they are placed in composite troops, mountain or light

    Great briefing, as always. May I suggest an overview of the PLA's artillery for your next video?

      Thank you. Funny you should say that, as that is exactly what I am doing next. I'll split it into 2 briefings.

    Great video!, i would sugest next a video on Russian Battalion Tactical Groups, either their history and evolution in tactics and equipment, or the various types of Btg´s(based on Motor Rifle Battalions, Based on Tank Battalion, Artillery Heavy Bgt, etc...)

    • @Strategy_Analysis
      @Strategy_Analysis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you, Gonçalo. The Battalion Tactical Group (BTG) was the inspiration for this series of briefings. Unlike the PLA's Combined Arms Battalions, the Russian BTGs are not as doctrinally fixed in terms of structure. But I will certainly look at doing a briefing on them.

    I don't know if you've already have this on your videos but if you can please would you be so kind as to do a video on Swiss Armed Forces more specifically those involving the anti-tank rifle grenade back in the 60s 70s and 80s....

    i've seen a lot of white and cream colored small armoured ifv/apc and other military vehicles for the Chinese military, really cool looking, and gyrocopters, or technically autogyro's, can you do a video on these and where they fit?

    • @Strategy_Analysis
      @Strategy_Analysis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ethan. Yes the PLA does use small vehicles (My latest briefing includes them) which provide a lot of capability. As for the Gyrocopters, yes I have seen them and they are very interesting. I will see if I can make a briefing out of these and similar systems.

    Interesting idea. Mobility indeed, its sort of a cross between dragoons and light cavalry.
    They dont have any howitzers at all, or any direct fire guns. Its all mortars. They'll be at a range disadvantage against virtually any force. I can see the utility of it as a component of a larger force, as outriders. Theyre nimble enough to show up in irritating places quickly and presumably disengage just as fast.
    Putting entire squads in vehicles with paper thin (presumably) armour seems reckless, at least the Humvee only carried 4-5. I assume the armour is similar to a BTR's, ie less than a centimtre.
