For most of these brake checks I find myself wishing the video just had the truck continue without braking at all, shove them right off the road, and continue as if it didn't even happen
Yea the only problem with that is, truck companies usually don’t care if it’s the truckers fault or not, yes of course they hope it’s not the trucker who caused the accident but in the long run it’s still a mark on their license, which is pretty shitty.
@@aidencampbell9120 - its always the truck drivers fault. At least now with dash cams you can cover your ass a little. Lots of folks are lucky they are not in Russia where the big rig driver do not care if you brake check as they will not reduce speed and will smack you right off the road and then keep on truckin'.
Wouldn't it be great if after all these bad behaviors we were given permission to just ram them. Then when we show the videos to police they say, "yeah well they had it coming"
I would make sure the dashcam was rolling and half ass brake. Tap their rear bumper then say something like "I'm in a big truck officer. If I braked any harder then I could jackknife." The troopers know semis can't slow down as fast as cars. Troopers don't like dealing with overturned trucks on highways I'm sure.
Typical of her type here in Charlotte. She felt “disrespected” cause he wouldn’t let her cut in line (this intersection has signs for over half a mile stating right lane turn only from 485 exit all the way to Matthews-Mint Hill rd).
The same goes the other way too. If the driver of the "big rig"can't adjust his speed to match traffic in the far right "slow or local" lane, then maybe he should move to the left or slow down.
I like when a truck has sn ass load of lights on it & has to pull over on the shoulder for one reason or another & someone hits them in the ass end even though they light up the sky better than the sun.
I know truckers like to drive the middle lane and fucks traffic up.... I don't drive 53' but being in a 26' truck if traffic is faster then myself I stay in the far right lane.... Semi drivers don't give a fuck they will continue to ride the middle.... or so how it was in Ohio and now South Carolina

Honestly, as someone who understands the risks in a semi braking AND swerving (a severe loss of control and an even greater danger to self and others, as demonstrated in many of these videos), the safest thing to do when brake checked is actually to hit the brake checker, also serves as a lesson. Win win.

I can't really tell, but it looks like the car *did* stop, or at least didn't totally blow through the sign at speed. That's why they're going slow at the merge. That said, that's a bag intersection. The sign is way before the line, it looks like a merge, not a stop, and the angle makes checking for traffic really hard. (You have to look left and back, not just left.) That intersection is designed to cause accidents.

I generally like to make sure the truck is fully visible in my mirrors, and I’m going atleast the speed of the truck or faster before I decide to move in front of it
How about look in your mirror & if you don't think that truck can fully & safely stop in time if you have to spike the brakes, then don't move over yet? If a deer, or child, or whatever- runs out in front off you (yes, even on a highway) you're going to forget about the 80,000 lbs., 70mph truck behind you...until it's in your back seat. All states west of the Mississippi allow this due to some high profile truck hijackings in the 1980s where the truckers were killed. Brake checking a semi should be a felony.
Brake checking *ANYONE* should be a felony - particularly on highways where the checked individual is exposed to being struck by other traffic.
Brake checking is an offense in all 50 states. A citation if it doesn’t result in an accident, a misdemeanor if it does and a felony if it results in death. In 36 states, you have the right to ram the brake checker out of the way and run to the nearest police station if you believe that the person doing it is trying to stop you to rob you. All states west of the Mississippi allow this due to some high profile truck hijackings in the 1980s where the truckers were killed. The trucking industry got the “ram and run “ laws passed to protect their drivers. They are still on the books in 36 states but most cops, judges and drivers don’t know about them. Seriously lol i mean, it seemed like he just needed to brake a little bit. They were so far ahead of him that it didn't seem necessary. And calling 911?! I thought that is illegal if there isn't an emergency? Lol

When two idiots go on a highway 🤣
The asshole in the Merc was totally wrong. One from the left, one from the right. Like Griffin Contracting said, when he blocked my escape route and started to open his door I would have stomped that truck to the floor and aimed the bumper for his door. The guy is obviously unstable, angry, and entitled. You have no idea what he's going to do once he's out of his car and you're stuck behind the wheel. A cave is a grave. A vehicle is a cave. If he pulls a weapon you can't defend yourself. Time to take action.
@@stevestowell-virtue3781 So was the truck driver. Both of them were wrong

16:50 - YES, it *SHOULD* be, and it *WILL* be, eventually, as dashcams become something almost everyone installs. If someone brake checks more than three times... punt them the hell off the road - make sure the vehicle is properly immobilized - and continue on for a couple miles to a 'safe' location away from the potential cargo pirates.
'punt them the hell off the road' Love it.🚔
I like Gallagher's idea of giving everybody a gun that shoots suction cup darts. When someone does something obnoxious or stupid, you shoot a dart at his trunk, and when the cops see a car with more than a couple of darts, they pull him over and give him a ticket for being an asshole.
@@hamletksquid2702 - I would prefer a paint gun… harder to remove the marking!

I'm embarrassed to say I've never given it much thought, but I really feel for truckers after watching this.
1:13 i always love this perspective. It's gotta be so easy to figure out traffic from that high up. Lucky truck drivers, man.

13:56 - 16:23 The center lane is the passing lane for trucks because in many/most places they are not allowed in the far left lane if there are three or more lanes. Cammer is blocking the center lane; running slower than other truck traffic. The drivers that are passing him and slowing down, cutting him off etc. are trying to tell him he needs to get out of the way and let others go. You can hear his music playing and no CB radio. If he had a CB I'm sure you'd hear other drivers "asking" him to move right.
Yeah, I was wondering if the norm was different in America or something, but no the cammer is just an idiot - or inexperienced, we all have to learn. Either way he's about to get a talking to at the next truckstop I think.
Exactly! Drivers that don't keep to the right lane and camp out in the middle lane are the most annoying drivers out there. Like you said, we can't use the left lane in many places where there's 3+ lanes, and this guy is hitting in our passing lane pacing the right lane. Just get in the right lane if you're going the same speed as that traffic! While I don't condone what the other drivers did, I definitely understand why it was done as I have wanted to do this same thing many, many times.
Disability forced me into retirement but I always told other drivers if you're being passed on the right you're in the wrong lane.
Kinda right and kinda wrong. Definitely right in a two lane highway, but if the lanes start getting 3 or more then it's debatable.
@nickklavdianos5136 nope. Right period. I don't care if there's 50 lanes if you're passing me on the.right you're going down the shoulder.
@@bryanblack526 if you're getting passed from the right, maybe you yourself should have been driving in the right lane. I don't know how trucks work where you're from, but where I'm from, 95% of the time they're the slowest vehicles on the highway, so they can get themselves to the rightmost lane and clear the rest of the road so that faster vehicles can pass them.
@nickklavdianos5136 I say again, if you're passing me on the right you're driving down the shoulder. Learn to read, comprehension would help as well.I don't know about you but where I'm from driving down the SHOULDER is fairly fuckin stupid.
Guy at 3 has so much patience I think I would’ve freaked out
After about a minute of that I would've started driving. If she swerved in front of me, I'd try to avoid her, but if she swerves to put herself in front of me again, she's made her fucking choice to total her own car and risk bodily harm. I would not swerve again and just keep going.
Howdy,
Any recommendation on which dashcam to buy?
Thank you,
16:53 I agree 100%
What I learned due to all these kind of vids…
…as a semi driver do NEVER avoid an accident, if you not 100% sure to get no damage or injury!!!
New rule:
When u brake check a semi, u lose ur license for a year minimum.
When u brake check a semi WHILE IN A SEMI, u lose ur commercial license for life.
The car drivers payment is probably death or serious injury for the car. A semi getting brake checked by another semi other hand can injury the truck driver pretty bad. A semi driver should obviously know better. I know I'm really raising the bar low but there's so many dumb asses on the street.
Love the captions especially the “Trailer Twerk” and I love the one that said the lady at fault had to pay for all damages including his coffee maker in his truck lol
Can someone that knows about trucks and trucking tell me what the beeping is during the video at 15:30?
At 6:40, it was clear that the car on the right was going to have to merge yet the truck driver failed to allow a space to open up safely. Bad driving from the cammer, IMO.
The other car should have just got behind the camer
@@bleachfan2.029 Also true but that doesn't excuse the bad driving of the cammer.
That trucker was being an absolute jerk by not allowing that car to merge ahead of him.
you don’t pass semis on the right, they can’t see you
11:05 hold on... you called 911...? You called the emergency number to tell them what exactly? That someone did not yield and you panicked and tried to slow down and pulled off the road for a couple of seconds but nothing was damaged and no one was injured? Why the hell would you call 911?
He is a Karen
He would stub his toe then call a ambulance
I called 911 once AFTER I took an exit and got off the highway ..... sat on the shoulder and reported a beer truck that was swerving from the right land to the center over to the left back to the center to the right, onto the shoulder, rinse and repeat ..... no way I wanted to be on that stretch of highway (I knew another route to get to my destination) ..... gave the operator the name of the beer company, tag number, and a bunch of other numbers from the rear end of the truck ..... even the phone number to call to report "How Am I Driving". Lucky I was able to right with my right hand while steering with my left and keeping enough distance but close enough to see the info. I told the operator "I just pulled on of I-XX on exit Q and I paced the truck at YY speed before doing so. And , no, I will not get back on the road and catch up with the truck and keep you on the line while we wait for a cop car to catch up with us." (Yeah, the operator started to chew me out for not staying on the road behind the truck and staying on the phone with her to give her updates on the markers as we passed them ...... no way did I want to stay behind that truck if it wrecked.)

But hey, he is driving a semi and has a horn, no more brain capacity to reduce speed. If you look again, he even raises speed from 42 to 46 *facepalm*
He definitely had all the time in the world to slow down lol
He couldn't slow down because of 80,000 pound load. I use to load trucks. For instants.. rolls of paper, weigh thousands of pounds each. When you load the truck, you load 3 rolls in a triangle in the front of the truck and another 3 in the middle of the truck. They are atrapped around one another.
Problem is, if you have to stop quick, those rolls could fall over, taking out your entire trailer.
They literally can only slow down a little at a time.
