I just want to say you deserve more subs/likes. You are a very likable presenter that’s not afraid to tell it like it is good or bad. Not just this video but all your stand reviews as well. Keep it up!!
Great review. Love the way you did the process from tail gate to tree back to shop and to showing us other packs for a great visual demonstration. Keep up the great videos Love your stuff. Yes you should have a ton more subs by now but keep it going they will come.
Great video as always. I am a pack fanatic. Got more than I care to say. Lol. I always go back to one. The Eberlestock X2. My hunting gear as well as camera equipment fit perfectly. It is literally the most comfortable pack that I’ve put on my back. Again great job and happy hunting.
For sure!! I ran thr cays 2.0 all last season but that shoulder strap width always bothered me. So i started looking at alternatives, with shoulder width spacing needing to be at a premium.
The star of the show is the 14 inch minis. I have the original lone wolf sticks, the LWCG doubles steps, and the 14 inch LWCG mini sticks. The 14 inch minis are amazing. I run them with a gen 2 predator platform for public land hunts. They are perfect for mobile hunting! The Tethrd pack is nice, but not worth the price. As always, your reviews are awesome and valuable to mobile hunter. Best reviews on TH-cam.
Knowing Tethrd, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them come out with an XL version eventually with a waist belt and more capacity. Looks solid, but without a belt and at this limited size I can’t justify the cost. Nice video as always!
Thats a good point, I actually like the fact it doesn't have a waiste band. Just wish it was a hair wider up top on the shoulder straps. In the tree it was great, not too big. Everything easily accessible. Solid little pack!!
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors Kuiu Day packs have the best system IMO. They have a solid waist belt but it’s removable. I hunt without it for day hunts but if I’m planning to pack out meat I can throw it on and pack some heavier loads out. Not having one is awesome but when you need one, you need one.
@@galinswigart I agree kuiu system is super versatile. I run two different kuiu setups. One pack I run the pro 1850 with suspension system with or without the waist belt (It's your choice) and the other pack. I run the kuiu pro suspension system with carbon fiber frame, pack load hauler and a pack accessory pouch. I do like the versatility and I get to choose which way I want to run and hunt in the woods (Quick lite hunt or long all day hunts). 🎯
@@galinswigart Just so you know, the Compression kit doubles as a waist belt for a heavy pack out...exactly like you mentioned. We did that on purpose so you can easily pop the 1" compression straps around your waist using the waist belt tabs at the bottom of the shoulder strap connections. Most guys will never need the waist belt in a fixed position for a small pack like the FAS Pack. But...it's there if you need it.
Awesome. I've watched all the other reviews so many times and none of them really show the inside of the pack up close like you did when you were on the table with it. I knew the inside would be small. I'm actually planning to only run my layers in the inside of the pack so I think I'll be ok. I hunt in east TX so it doesn't get that cold. Typically only run a hoodie or kuiu guide Jacket when it's really cold. Then my Puffy vest and bottoms should still fit in there since they are down. But I like the idea of just compressing a bigger jacket on the outside. Might also help buffer the sound of sticks clanking as well. I can't wait to get mine. I ordered Dec 8th.
Another great review, brother. Like someone else said in the comments, the lack of a waist belt... or at least the option to add one is the main detractor for me with this pack (or ANY treestand/saddle hunting pack). For me personally, if I'm carrying any kind of load on my back, a waist belt is a necessity as a mobile hunter. It just makes hiking long distances with my gear much more comfortable when all the weight isn't solely on my shoulders. That's just my preference. Size wise, this pack seems about perfect though. Looking forward to more in depth review.
FlinginAiros is right. It comes with a waist belt option in the Compression Kit. I guess we didn't do a very good job of explaining that :( Sorry about that.
Great review. Do you think if it was more efficient in the tree than your wolf pack, since you're use the .5, would you use it since you're not actually carrying it into the wood?
How was your compression kit? My small ones had the same connector on both ends. Made it difficult to attach predator pak. Cant find best way or rite way. How did you attach yours? A video on that would be great thanks.
So I got the predator pack with mine assuming my lwcg fix would fit and it doesnt lol, So I had to order a different platform pack. Ill spend some time this weekend playing with it and seeing if I can get it to mount and if I can video it.
i want to add my fas pack to a frame and basically make it like the mystery ranch pop up 28. i have a pop and love how you use the pack to hold everything close to your back. just really like the fas pack configuration
I have used mine probably around 2 dozen times. Im not as big of a guy as you but I stand 5’9” 225lbs. Broad shoulders like yourself and felt the same way at least in the late season with a moderately heavyweight jacket on! I think for the most part your field review I can completely say was spot on. Did you run it with the aluminum stay in it or just the sheet?
I ran it with the sheet, Its definitely a nice pack. Its not like its miserable to use just after a bout 3/4 a mile it was wearing on me a little. I think its something that maybe was just overlooked in the design phase, Id say if they came out with an XL version for big boys id be all over it!! Functionality in the tree its phenomenal as well as I enjoy the pockets and how they are setup.
I’d like to buy this pack but as you said the back straps scare me. But if they came out with an XL version that would be awesome. However, id hate to see them add a waist belt to it because those aren’t my favorite lol great review
@@MichiganGreatOutdoors cool man it definitely looks good for the price point and it’s about the same size as the .75 but 150 cheaper so I’m kinda interested in it
yes, in that video I had the aluminum stay in it. I failed to mention that and yes it did sway a lot. I think its because of how narrow the pack is at the top. I do think its a really nice pack, just wish it was wider at the top of the shoulder straps. Ill have an in depth video out soon.
Nice set up! What size Kuiu proximity stuff did you order in relation to your size? I’m thinking about getting some stuff and was wondering what to get. I don’t like my stuff too tight and like to layer. Would you recommend that gear?
Im a fan anything kuiu, I went with a 2 xl coat, fits me pretty good. Always size up with kuiu is what I found. I have the super down vest in 2xl and its still a little tight, but my super down pro ultra coat my wife got me for Christmas is an xl and fits pretty decent. I think a 2 xl in that might have been too big actually....
They have a good deal right now and includes a bunch of stuff. Looks good and solid price. I absolutely love my Eberlestock X2 and Trophyline Platow pack tho. Wife would kill me if I bought another haha
Lol, u look like me packing out in the mornings. U forgot the jetboil. Lol, u know that I am a thin guy. I have been having trouble with the same strap issue on my shoulder with other companies. I'm wondering if you can use my LWCG 17" double steps in it? Yr wife spoiled you with that jacket. Great info, brother.
I think the 17s would work fine but they would stick out higher, the pack kinda runs high on your back anyway. Its a nice pack but the more I use it that width might be an issue for me. Yeah, I cant believe she got me that! We were supposed to only have a 100$ limit for Christmas for each other and she far exceeded that!! I will get her back for her birthday.
You need to get the e Berle stock bandit and do a side by side comparison. One “high end” and the other is the “budget” coming is over half the cost and is a VERY similar pack….plus also I want the bandit so I’m biased 😅
You need to loose the straps and invest in some USA Amsteel ropes so much lighter and better. There's a guy from Saginaw that makes them and sells them on Esty.
300+ dollars - no thanks. That's way too much loot for a back pack considering there are competative offerings from companies with a lot more experience, such as Bad Lands, that make better packs for half the price.

Depending on your terrain a waiste belt can be life saver. I tend to not use mine, so I prefer not to have one.
There are tab loops at the bottom you can add one. I used one of the compression straps and it worked great for me riding above my hip bones
