I don't use them, much prefer snapshots on the Helix. I just don't want loads of presets saved when I'll probably only use each one in the patch it was created for, I get the idea they were aiming for but in practice I just won't use it!
I’m glad you made this video. HeadRush still has a ways to go to be on par with the others, but it’s definitely better than before. Sounded great in the mix though
Thank you for the review of firmware update 4.0 for the Headrush Prime, Core and Flex. I got a Headrush Core on sale $100 off the original price for $699 last week. I also got the Kemper Player last week, which is being returned today. Please include more Headrush in your content.
Superclone feature works great. Theyve definitely improved the cloning software. The trick ive found is cloning WITHOUT a boost infront, then adding the boost after the clone is established
Thanks for commenting. That's exactly how I did this clone. There was no boost involved at all. I still think they have a little ways to go regarding accuracy but it's definitely improved.
I think to handle pedal settings changes by scene, you need to create a pedal preset with the settings you want then you can select which preset you want for each scene.
I appreciate your honesty! Can anyone confirm if the high sound latency issue has been improved with recent firmware updates? Some users reported up to 10-20ms of latency last year, which was concerning.
The Dyn Delay is what you want in a high gain tone. Feedback very low 5,6,7 mix between 15 to 23 for leads...and high n low cut it to taste....like you I've used all these units...but when you realize how to dial in this delay...no joke I swear it's the most harmonic friendly delay I ever heard lol
@@JamesFlorio-ti8gc thanks for commenting. I did try that delay. The only thing I didn't like about it was the first repeat that it gave me was really loud compared to the original note that I was playing. It was kind of weird. I'll have to mess with it further.
@@TONEWARSgearshow oh and don't forget to turn the high cut down a bit that weird repeat you are hearing is coming from the high end almost like some sort of verb is on it in the chain already even when there is no verb 👍🏻
Thanks for the interesting and fair/objective video as always! Now today there's a brand new Helix update with some new High gain amps and a soldano cab - get back to work!! lol 🤣
I mostly play amps but like to mess around with the digital stuff too. I've been a fan of Headrush's interface for a while now. I got a used Gigboard to play with a couple years ago and bought a Core when they came out. Unfortunately, the clones just don't sound as good as my ToneX and the built-in models just don't sound as good as my Helix. Headrush is so close to being as good as other platforms and I was hoping this update would put them on par. Although this update got rid of the artifacts I was hearing in the clones before, they're still not quite there. The Superclone idea is great and I hope Inmusic keeps the updates coming.
being hooked to the internet or not it will save on the device as well as the web editor. it is an issue that one can override the other, but at the moment we have a editor finally. i use the knobs to sometimes when required to fine tune a setting. otherwise stick to using only the device setting methods or the web editor. when they iron it out it will be fantastic and hopefully recognize when the other makes a change, but not bad for the first editor they've ever made. unfortunate it doesn't currently support usb for editing, but you can pretty much do it on any device. again the internet is not the issue, more a expectation issue i found quickly and learned to work with and around for now.
For the blocks there needs to be a mode setting. Global or Custom < for scenes. You dont want one or other because thats a double edge sword you want the option.
I follow your channel and I love all your videos. For the scenes you can create two scenes per footswitch. Secondly with the delays the AIR Delay has a resonance filter which you need to turn down in the settings. You will notice there is a resonance frequency parameter and a mix parameter for that which are separate from the actual delay mix. That is what makes it sound right off the bat. The Again Delay has a modulation going on in the repeats. Also you do not need to add a separate delay pedal in the signal change. You only need to save the settings you want for a scene for that particular delay as a preset and assign those presets in the scene changes. I do agree with you that by default most of the delays sound weird because of the modulations going in the repeats which need to be dialed out.
Thank you so much for the information. They definitely need to fix this. That's a really convoluted way of creating settings of your pedals for each scene. They need to simplify that. Again, I appreciate the information you shared here.
@@TONEWARSgearshow it's true that it's convoluted. I think the line of thought is akin to creating something like a blocks/presets library for each effect like what you find in the Axe FX and having those assigned to scenes
@dornyoh I prefer the Line 6 way of doing things. They allow you to create favorites but also let you just tweak things in each snapshot accordingly. Best of both worlds.
Thanks for doing this informative video and great job! What is the song you were demoing your incredible shredding on that you ended this vid with? I love that song and need it on a listening playlist because it is awesome?

I tried HR prime also . The thing is they have the features i want but the way you use the unit feels clunky and the hardware just doesn’t feel right to me. I love the cloning, modeling, WiFi!! Bluetooth! Touch screen .. scribble strips .. i mean there’s so many pluses but when i use it i still don’t enjoy it . I feel like they have a lot to offer but need to work on the experience and i feel like others need to look at what HR slid offering in features .
It's all good, but wasn't the big point of previous critique, that HR kept failing to clone one specific REVV from your collection? With other amps, HR cloning worked even back then, not as good as Tonex/QC, but still. But those particular REVV was just cursed for HR, and results were always very bad. I wonder if Prime now can finally clone those REVV, or it remains cursed amp for HR.
Headrush really tried for a redemption arc here. Still not blowing ToneX or Neural out of the water for clones any time soon on its own (maybe the Revalver superclone stuff might change that?) but definitely worth having another look for those who wrote HeadRush off at first. Also... Desktop editor. All I can say is, it's about time on that one. (I can forgive needing WiFi, even for venues with spotty Internet - how hard is it really to set up a hotspot these days?)
One of your core sentences was ,".. not knowing what I'm doing...". You should really know a product before trying to do a video on it. 4 hours research is nothing for unit like this. Gives it a feel of creating content just for the sake of creating content. The mix was great.
❌ I’m interested in buying one of these, but there are a few things that I don’t like about it. It’s using old technology, so why not use USB-C? I shouldn’t have to use an adapter. Why is the headphone socket 1/8" when it should be 1/4"? There’s yet another adapter that I would have to use for my Beyer Dynamic DT100 headphones, which have been used in top recording studios for decades. This is the only cable that I will except using because I’m expecting latency with Bluetooth headphones, and anyway, not everyone uses 1/8" kids’ headphones! It’s Bluetooth enabled, but can you use wireless headphones or earbuds? Why is the import volume knob for the vocals a tiny afterthought placed on the back of the unit when you can’t even see what’s going on? If it’s knocked, then no doubt it will affect the input levels, and therefore it needs to be on-screen in the global settings and lockable (delete the knob!). As far as I am aware, it doesn’t even have a hard case, which begs the question, how do people transport and protect it? Headrush should design one with built-in wheels similar to a small suitcase with an extendable handle, but definitely not a soft gig-bag because the material will rip. Any fool can walk up to the stage and twiddle the main volume knob and, similar to the vocals volume knob, this needs to be protected. Headrush needs to protect knobs during gigs, and therefore we should be able to temporarily disable them whereby we can only access them from a footpedal. Absolutely no way do I agree with the seeing "Antares auto-tune" blazoned across the top of the unit. I think it’s unprofessional and… embarrassing, and I don’t care what business deal that Headrush has with Antares to offer them visual credit, they need to remove it, especially because it’s not a very good system anyway! I’m going to stop here because I’m getting annoyed that very basic things have been overlooked. Let’s hope that Headrush sees my suggestions… My first guitar processor was a Digitech GSP2101 back in 1999 or 2000, and that was brilliant, but it seems that even today’s technology still has a long way to go to catch up ❌
The size is too much considering it is built to be a master board that you can use to control the entire board with but it lacks the midi functionality that the helix has with its control center and so it is nowhere near as useful in a bigger rig with lots of pedals that use midi.
In the scenes, you just have to save another preset in the effect you're using. And then use that preset.

How long before they’re no longer updated or supported?
The Dyn delay is the equivalent to the digital delay that doesn't modulate the sound

the actual badlander sounded f awesome, the pedal sounded kind dull in comparison, imo.
And the Again Delay would not have had the warbleing if you would have changed the chorus setting to zero instead of leaving it on 100.
