Watch for obvious vertical elements like the camera straps on the chosen paper to help you place a piece of paper that has a multi-directional design. Unlike square cameras or other square elements, upside-down camera straps or other obvious upside-down vertical elements jump out at a scrapbooker and shouldn’t be placed that way!

I have to start my layouts by choosing the pics first. I simply cannot create a layout then add pics. Wish I could.

How would you do this if you are doing a 5x7?
How would this look with a double page layout? With a smaller + in the center so it could be used for 4x6 photos?
Instead of cutting at 4 and 6 inches you could try cutting at 4.5 And 6.5
So cutting at 4.25 And 6.25 inches would allow you to have 4x6 mats and the slightly smaller photos.
What about if you are using a 5x7 cardstock or card
