@Roma funny enough the legend of the tarantella involves medieval townsfolk dancing uncontrollably. Legend has it that the music was supposed to cure ailments ('Tarantula bite') but more likely the town would go into a dance craze after mass hysteria/shock from some bizzare event, and they would play the fast paced tarantella
It's ingenious, in my humble opinion... I haven't yet heard Saint-Saens from this side, a magnificent combination of wittiness and mystery. I'm astounded.

imslp.org/wiki/Tarantelle%2C_Op.6_(Saint-Saëns%2C_Camille) Scroll down until you find sheet music and then click the tab that says “Parts (20)” and if you scroll down there will be a part transposed to Bb. I played through this with my friend a couple times and it’s a lot of fun :D

the staccato/jumpy chords on the piano that are always upholding the melody really help the 3 parts mould together to create something magical

it's an authentic tarantella, it respects traditional features of this folk italian music
Just a masterpiece!!!The great play!Bravissimi
Entertaining. A sheer exercise in craftsmanship written by a great composer doing his morning composing while making use of the toilet.
Really?
This piece is so beautiful 😍❤️
5:58 Wow! A high G on the clarinet! 0_0
Rose Cadenza isn’t that an E though?
@I Did Something NO THANKS
@DevinDeath ok devin
This recording uses an A clarinet. It’s a high F# on the standard Bb clarinet, which is a high G on the A clarinet
I think it's not in key. They probably wrote the clarinet part as if it were for flute or piano instead of Bb
grazie! Un piccolo gioiello che scopro attraverso questo canale..... sono al cinquantesimo ascolto...... meraviglioso...
Fantastic! And with the sheet music! Thank you!
Amazing. Just a note -- headphone users, beware. This piece hurts if you're not prepared!
Yeah, its amazing how this hit in so many ways

I hope to find myself some flute and clarinet players to play this piece with when I study music in college! :D
One of the motifs reminds me of Shostakovich's DSCH motif, used in many of his works.
I loved this, thanks for sharing!

Is the clarinet in this Bb or A?
It is in A.
what key would it be in for a Bb clarinet then?

Did anybody else hear the constant ticking of flute and clarinet keys? They need to reposition the mikes. Distracting.
flute and clarinet keys replay the sound of the tamburello basco (other of the tricche ballacche)
both the instruments are twice, piatti and bass
I kinda enjoy the sounds. It makes it sound more real if that makes sense

What does tarantella mean?
"Tarantella is a group of various folk dances characterized by a fast upbeat tempo, usually in time, accompanied by tambourines. It is among the most recognized forms of traditional southern Italian music." (Wikipedia)
thank you!!
"usually in time" didn't you mean to type "usually in 6/8 time" ?
It's a copypaste. Some tarantellas, interestingly, do not restrict themselves to 6/8 time.
@@thenameisgsarci That's why there is a "usually". But yes, they sometimes have other time signatures
