    Prayer of St. Ephraim Lord and despot of my life, do not give me spirit of laziness, curiosity, lust of power*, and empty talk**, (give prostration) but spirit of wisdom, lowliness, patient endurance, and love give graciously me your servant. (give prostration) yes, Lord King, give me to perceive my faults and not to give judgment against my brother· for blessed are you into the age the ages. amen. (give prostration.)
    o God, cleanse me a sinner. (12 times, each time making the sign of the cross then a deep bow, then say the entire prayer, and then give a prostration.)
    * φιλαρχίας (philarchias) LSJ definition:
    love of rule, lust of power, LXX 4 Ma. 2.15; efforts to gain power.
    ** αργολογίας (argoloias)
    from αργολογώ - hot air, empty talk;
    i.e., the chatter, the cunning verbiage, the condemnation, the slander, but also that which is neither beneficial nor harmful, but is neutral and useless and fruitless.
    Spiritual laziness, empty talk, and curiosity bring about the death of works, which gives birth to selfishness and the abominable need to see those around us as our debtors and servants.
    Κύριε και Δέσποτα της ζωής μου, πνεύμα αργίας, περιεργίας, φιλαρχίας, και αργολογίας μη μοι δως. Πνεύμα δε σωφροσύνης, ταπεινοφροσύνης, υπομονής, και αγάπης χάρισε μοι τω σω δούλω. Ναι Κύριε Βασιλεύ, δώρησαί μοι του οράν τα εμά πταίσματα, και μη κατακρίνειν τον αδελφόν μου· ότι ευλογητός ει εις τους αιώνας των αιώνων. Αμήν.

      It is beautiful to see the children doing the 3 prostrations while reciting the prayer of St. Ephrem and the 12 bows thereafter with the words "O God, Cleanse me a sinner." I am encouraged that they are practicing the physical movements of the prayer as best as they know how. Their purity supercedes any flaws one may point out about their motions.

    Would have been great without the kids mocking the sign of the cross in the back.

      +Paul Ziolo well said. The children more often than not have a more pure faith than us adults too.

      i don't think they are mocking - they are kids - it's a very solemn prayer/time and the kids are Doing GREAT!!! Credit to the parents and credit to them that they are there at all!! They could be playing with Ipads and iphones....or computer games - instead they are in Church!! Bless them!!

      The kids are learning, not mocking. I know those kids. They are pious.
      You would do well to make your sign of the cross in piety without watching others and judging them.
