  • Diden and Simon have hired Sarah Richardson to remodel their kitchen and cosy room. With Didem favouring a more classic design compared to Simon's preference for contemporary, Sarah is hoping the couple will be wide open to her ideas when it comes to their narrow kitchen space. But will they?

I don't understand why people choose a particular designer and then don't trust the designer to create what they want. It is beyond me. If you don't like Sarah's style, don't hire her. Everything Sarah touches looks amazing!

But once in a while I would've chosen something different. One of the things I like best about Sarah is she works with her client's preferences. That's especially important in a kitchen where you have to tear things out and custom fit new if you don't like it. What the client wants is the designer's vision and expertice.

I'd be done too Sarah! What happened to "it's all up to you, in your hands"?!?!? It did turn out beautifully!

Yes, timeless and I love, love the color pallet, makes the space look larger, and the elegant simplicity.

The kitchen turned out great, but dealing with those clients was not that easy. I had a design business years ago. My partner was working with the client and I was doing the draperies. The client wanted the windows done first, not my choice but as I am coming down from installing them she said " I don't think I like those". I let my partner take care of that one!

Sometimes I think the process is like a bride shopping for a wedding dress. As long as you don’t choose, you are always the star. Once you choose, the attention moves from you to the plan. Some people don’t like that.

I think this is a fantastic kitchen design and I feel like there were some family dynamics of the client bleeding into her concerns...I think they should have gone with Sarah & Jessica's original ideas

A huge transformation, of course -- but the visual flow is blocked by the bench in the center of the sitting area. There is no focal point at that end for the eye to move toward. The success here was getting both of the clients and the designers to agree.

I don't know why the "After" is shown before the episode even starts. I know people enjoy watching the changes and the creative process, as do I, but the big reveal is a main feature. When the stupid music is so loud it drowns out the discussions - no can do.

Thank God they went with that beautiful countertop because I personally absolutely detest the colour of the cabinets and I don’t think you could have found a more boring and generic backsplash as what they got

One of my least favorite designs; all brown, beige and boring. Maybe it looks better in person. At least they did go for the Venetizia countertops.

This episode is from August 2006. I don't think the dark color scheme has aged well. I prefer a white kitchen. White kitchens have been in style for over 100 years.

If you don’t push you will get pushed into a corner. You have to balance pushing with coaxing.
