I struggled big time getting that first ping out into the real world and after looking through what feels like an ocean of misleading guides I landed on this one; everything worked on the spot after following it. I'm definitely going to recommend your channel to my networking friends. Thank you so much for explaining what everything did and why you did it the way you did.

    Thanks David...
I would like to addon the way in which if you dont have the physical or USB ethernet.
Goto Start -> run -> hdwwiz -> Select install the hardware manually -> Select Network Adapter -> Select Microsoft -> Select "Microsoft KM Test Loopback Adapter"
Again Go to Start -> run -> ncpa.cpl -> Select above created adapter i.e. Microsoft KM Test Loopback Adapter and assign the IP address to it from same subnet i.e. router's IP and Network adapter IP should be in same subnet.
Within Virtual Machine, while adding the bridged network adapter, for at that time select above created "Microsoft KM Test Loopback Adapter"
Remaining all the steps are very well explained by David.

I'm glad you warn people, about bridging with WIFI cards. I tried that in the past, thats very painfull to get working.
As i have understood the problem, it is the AP that will not accept other MAC addresses, than the connected WIFI card.
So you would basically, need the software to make it look like all trafic going through was from the WIFI card. (Kinda like PAT)

Is there a way to set this up with using GNS3 on ESXi? I have a remote server running ESXi and I have GNS3 VM installed on it. On a separate PC I have gns3 installed and only connect to the remote server on ESXi (no local GNS VM or server setup). Is there a way to bridge the connection this way?

David, Not sure if you still reply on here due to the age of this video. I have a 4 port NIC and I would like to have all of those ports available to GNS3 to connect physical devices and I'm having trouble getting them all to work. It seems you can only bridge one adapter. I would like to be able to connect a router to each of these to communicate with GNS3. Do you have any guidance? Thank you in advance and I hope you're having a great day.

    Hi
I have a server on which I am running ESXI and running virtual machine windows 10 in that. I have installed gns3 in that Virtual machine and now I am trying to connect devices in that GNS3 which is running in the virtual machine to my Physical rack. When I bridge the Virtual machine NIC to gns3 using loopback I am able to get the IP on the GNS3 router using DHCP with default gateway. But I am unable to reach the internet from that GNS3 router or my physical rack.

    Hello David and all,
I have struggling to access a CentOS host in VirtualBox inside GNS3 from my local computer which runs on Mint.
When I drag the CentOS inside the GNS3, I choose the GNS3 VM as the server. I almost spent 20 hours work on this. I am not sure this is a problem from GNS3 or more packages need to be installed on Mint etc. Maybe I am making mistakes. Any help or tutorials would be appreciated.

Hello David, I am working with Mikrotik routers.
Actually I can connect to external physical network via GNS3 as inserting my Mikrotik Routers on my topology. But I get much more packet loss when I get worked on pinging gateway and external world.
So how can I get solve of that?
    My configurations are...
microsoft loopback adaptor creation with sharing my ethernet NIC, and that to cloud.
After that I get my packet loss too... :(

David, i don't know if you already now that, but i had problems exatcly the way you said about ethernet card realtek gbe family . Everything was working fine until i reboot my notebook and the bridge didn't work anymore. After a couple of hours trying to understand it, i found a way to make it work again. I went into virtual network editor and in vmware0 i chose my real ethernet card (realtek gbe) instead of automatic bridge. That made my vm bridge works again... for now! lol

    • @davidbombal

We are "connecting" a virtual adapter in VMware to a physical NIC. Basically bridging the connection to allow the VM to communicate via the physical NIC.

    Hi David
Thanks for the video. I am trying this on MAC with Fusion. I have installed GNS3 2.1.8 with VM version 0.10.14 on my mac running high sierra. I added 3rd adapter to GNS3 VM with bridged mode. Topology looks like ... cloud eth2 --- R1---R2. On R1 and R2 i have given ip address to the interfaces. Now i can ping GNS3VM from my mac. But i am not able to ping any router. i want to do ssh into my GNS3 routers from my mac. I know the SSH configuration and all. I can get it working for R1 if i give interface address from my GNS3VM network. but then i cant ping any other interface or for that matter i cant reach to R2 even if routing configured as you have shown in part 1,2 of this series. is there any issue with MAC GNS3 2.1.8 combination?

Hi David thanks for your informative vids but you made a statement that the NAT device doesn't allow ingress to GNS3, not sure if I got you right but I've used the NAT device as a way to use ASDM to the Mgmt interface of my ASAv device in GNS3. You just need to check the subnet being used for vmnet8 if you are using VMWare Workstation and you can use this as your mgmt subnet....it's ok for messing around.

Thanks for the video @david. I have one requirement and I would like to know whether it can be possible in GNS3 or not.
Want to create a complex network with Routers, Switches combination and I want to assign IP address of my local netwowrk to each GNS3 device.
Lets say my laptop has 172.30.1.5 and I want to give IPs to GN3 VMs in 172.30.1.xx series so that I can reach each simulated device in GNS3.
If I can achieve this then I can enable SNMP on each device and do SNMPWalk and identify the network topology.

Hello David, I appreciate your video and I need your help,
I am implementing CME in GNS3, and I have had 2 doubts:
    a) When I upload to the Flash the files for the FW of the phones, acd, ringtone, etc. I see them in the flash if problem, except, and if I turn off the CME they are no longer there, what I need to do to make them stay in the flash.
    b) I am configuring subinterfaces on port f0 / 0 for the voice and data vlan:
    192.168.10.254/24 for data.
    192.168.20.254/24 for voice.
    DCHP for both VLANs
I have physical switch 2950 and this configured port f0 / 24 as trunk.
    And ports F0 / 1 - 16 with membership to both VLANs.
    I have physical PCs connected to ports f0 / 1 -16
I do not know what IP should carry the NIC of the PC that has GNS3 and CME running on it. I already put the same as the data vlan, one from the same data segment. But I do not receive IP from the DCHP, although I do get from the PCs to the data DG.
Therefore, the CIPCs that I have in the PCS are not registered in the CME.
If I change the GNS3 and put an actual CME everything works.
I'm doing something wrong, I hope you can help me.

every time i look up how to do this, i find this video and it is not helpful at all because this is the only thing that comes up for doing this. Your video fails to explain where the bridge interface you're using comes from. I've looked at part 1 and everywhere else and I cant find a reference to the bridge interface you're using nor how I'm supposed to let other PCs connect to the virtual routes across my local network. If this is really bridged into the real world, it doesnt really seem to be bridged to anything but outside the VM on my own PC and nothing else will allow connections. Can you please provide any explanations as to where the bridge interface is coming from that I am supposed to point virtual box at to get this to allow outside connections to the routers on the inside of the VM
