    Great song studies man. You need more subs for the work you put into this. I've really hesitated attempting anything out of standard tuning, but I might give this a shot. Plini has been on my list for a while.

    • @LuminousDark
      @LuminousDark  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. It really means a lot to me! It's a slow grind but I do enjoy the process and being able to give something to people makes me happy. I understand what you mean, I too was the same with changing tuning. Nowadays I change tuning on the same guitar twice or three times a day! It's not always fun but I decided that I won't let it stop me learning from my favorite guitarists. Cheers!

      @ferrocile 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also noticed that you did one on CHON as well.. it seems we have similar tastes. I'm looking forward to going through these. I've tried a few CHON songs and they are really tough, but rewarding. I still haven't done one 100% through -- I'm not quite at that level yet.

    • @LuminousDark
      @LuminousDark  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel you. It's the first time for me learning CHON songs. So it really was an educational and rewarding experience to take a jab at their work. I hope to explore more of their music and post it here as guitar studies. And yes, they really are extremely tough to get down.

    Hi! Are you planing on lessoning the rhythm guitars part?
    I bought the tab book for handmade cities and is amazing how accurate this video is agains the gp file but watching you play it help me even more than the tabs and gp. Now the rhythm parts seems trickier and watching the video were plini and aaron plays on naam, there differences from the official tab and the way they play rhythm parts live, the way they play make more sense than the tab book but ita hard to figure out what exactly thay are playing so i was wondering if demoing the rhythm parts is something you are planning to do, it would be great!
    Amazing lessons!

    • @LuminousDark
      @LuminousDark  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! If you watch the following parts of this Plini song series I do cover some rhythms. Take a look at those first see if they help out. As for the rest of the rhythm section I might do lessons on them as well. I can't promise anything but I can add it to my list! It's true that what they play live can differ plenty from tabs out there. I looked at countless videos carefully to see how they play it. I am happy that I was able to help out! It's what I aim to do with these videos :)

    • @Vesperoth
      @Vesperoth 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luminous Dark hi thanks for answering, i just finished watching the series! And its great to have someone explaining with so much detail how to play it, thank you very much!
      Do you think you could help me to figure out the intro rhythm? The part that goes from the begining chord to before the section that starts on part 4 of this series? I l know theres something wrong in the gpx files because they seem to play that part way easier than in the tabs
      Thanks!

    Hey there great video and thanks for all your content..
    I always wanted to ask, if this is in altered tuning does Plini play it in the Mindset of a Standard tuning but in different tuning? like playing standard tuning shapes in different tuning? or play the shapes ion different tuning?
    Also hate to ask so much but could you also shed some light in what his modes or arpeggios he is using? cause i would love to STEAL *ahem* his ideas and his approach to playing guitar.
    I know i am asking so much but i cant seem to find any tutorials on how to play PLINI, CHON style. They sound so unique and getting an insight would be so vital.
    Thank you once again and take care.

    • @LuminousDark
      @LuminousDark  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome man! It always makes me happy to know I am helping other guitarists out. Don't worry! It's a pleasure to answer all of your questions. Almost all of his songs are played in a down tuning with the exception of one or two which are played in completely different unconventional tunings. For the most part, yes he plays everything as if it were in drop D standard tuning but then with an even lower tuning. So the chord shapes, riffs and solos can be played in drop D standard tuning but it would sound much higher of course.
      Plini's music is fairly happy, melodic and upbeat. I would say that he plays mostly in the MAJOR scale and moves his way around the different modes of the major scale. For more in depth information on the musical theory side I suggest viewing this video: th-cam.com/video/zc0674BhNoI/w-d-xo.html This guy made an amazing video on the various techniques and musical concepts that Plini uses. I think he can explain it much better than me. Hope this helps! Cheers!

    Hi there ! Thanks for sharing this. I was thinking about doing the same guitar study for my french guitar channel but I was worrying about all the copyright stuff on TH-cam. Did you get some information about that before starting this series ? Very good work anyway !

    • @LuminousDark
      @LuminousDark  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +hack-ta-guitare thanks a bunch dude! I have had minimal trouble with copyright. Especially with bands like Chon and Plini. Since they are not mainstream pop music I have no trouble using parts of their music on my videos. For example, with Avenged Sevenfold I have had to share ad revenue with warner bros but that's because A7X is a fairly big metal band.

    • @hack-ta-guitare
      @hack-ta-guitare 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Luminous Dark, thanks for your answer. Yeah, and when we are sharing those videos, we also share our love for those guitarists and make them known so it's fair enough but I contacted Plini to be 100% sure.

      +hack-ta-guitare yes absolutely it's all about sharing that love for the music and guitarist and for others o have the ability to learn and play those songs that they love so much. Have you gotten a reply from Plini?

      From what I can gather he uses a mix of Lydian, Mixolydian and Dorian scales. I actually don't know this for sure! I did some digging for you. Checkout Reddit, they have a fair amount of info on his playing! Cheers from Holland!

    • @LuminousDark
      @LuminousDark  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mister Jacki I'd absolutely love to. Sadly I need a guitar with a whammy bar to be able to teach it. As it is the only way to play it correctly. I could do it without, but I'd rather do it right. Once I get a new guitar with a whammy bar I'll be sure to teach it :). Patience is a virtue as they say.

  • @adsensedd
    @adsensedd 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    You need to teach this material from a theoretical point of view. eg. this is an X arpeggio over X chord. Used because it makes X exotic sound. Because the notes mean nothing, The reasons for using the notes and the creative approach mean everything. If someone follows this, they are just mindlessly copying the material. They aren't learning anything musical. But great tutorial anyway!

    • @akiani
      @akiani 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I second this! I actually never seen anyone do a tutorial and explain its theory. It would be really useful to many.
