- Hey, it's another battle report. This time we are doing Battletech: A Game of Armored Combat, and fighting a forgotten skirmish on Dalton V
.....look, it's a SARNA link!

NOTE:
I am pretty casual about my Living Games, it's the Dead ones i really love. This session had me with only one box from my collection, a shared rulebook, and no accessories. i was lucky to have the trees and ONE map on me, and that was from the main box set. I bought dice at the store to use, and borrowed my bud's box o' death.
Did i bitch? did i moan?
Nope, walked right into it.
and won.
My Battletech Battle Reports are not designed with either the new gamer or the tournament gamer in mind. I love the game, but i play it with a drink in one hand and laughter a plenty.
also, my one "Cheers" clip comes from edit leftovers from this game: i was drinking Wan Liang Bao, my buddy was enjoying some Spiced Rum.
because Mad Lad is a state of mind....
This is the best Battletech battle report I've seen so far. The end-of-turn/s highlights summary style is exactly what I've been looking for. I don't wanna watch people counting, giving their stream of consciousness as they deliberate over moves, etc… I just wanna see action, damnit! This is how you get people excited about the game! 😀 And to top it off, the video is 20 minutes long, not 2 hours long… 😎 Well done.
I like those little Fleas lol It was fun watching, I wish i had someone to play with I have a decent ammount of Mechs, I got the beginner box, A game of armored combat box, Clan Invasion Box, and 8-10 mechs I bought online. "plus more coming" But I have no place to go to play it... :(
That's funny. I did a blog post about that "box of doom" trick ages ago, long since deleted. Think it was Star Fleet Battles that first originated it, but it was widely adopted by BTech fans around these parts back in 84-85. I'd always assumed it was so obvious the idea was universal till I left for college and the groups there had never seen one before.
Do yourselves a favor and stick some labels in the pockets so they're numbered from 1-17. Prevents arguments about which sets of dice are linked to what - and it helps if you find yourself playing SFB, too.
!!!!!! Nice! i commend you for your insight and contribution!
We affectionately call it the "box of death" here at home lol
I actually like not seeing every single aspect of the game. Minutiae like that gets boring real fast and has me just switch to other videos. You are not training newbies on how to play, you’re just playing the game and enjoying it.
Kinda makes me want to paint up the models I have.
it's not a tutorial.
Nice bat rep, look forward to seeing more, do you have another in the works?
We have some on our channel if you're looking for more.
I play Battletech about once a month right now, but i a,m thinking about being the Battletech Emissary here in a bit, running biweekly games for newbies at my FLGS on top of driving west to meet my old friends.
@@DeadGamesSociety Sounds fun. If you ever want to collaborate, let me know.
@@DeadGamesSociety awesome will keep an eye out :)
That was a fun mission
Note to self: 4x rapid fire MG is terrifying
Also, I love how succinct this was and how quickly the turn-by-turn effects were reported.
I'm still new to tabletop, but the 3hr + videos are TOO MUCH rules, or too much banter in between
Thank You! i, for one, am a fan of videos closer in length to TV specials.
I can't believe you brought up Stackpoling. 🤦♂️
I must be dense: Stackpoling? i never brought up the writer and the stacked hexes we did have had very little effect on the game.
I'd love some education on the term.
@@DeadGamesSociety It's something he wrote about (only got a brief explanation from a content creator). You basically get backed into a corner after losing all weapons, then roll for a "one in a million chance" to turn the mech's engine into a nuclear warhead.
Oh hilarious!
Yeah, we see how well that turned out. I have learned not to stake my games on one-in-an-X chances!
Ever play without mechs at all?
You bet! It makes for a refreshing challenge
When i play without mechs at all i usually play Fistfull of TOWS, Team Yankee, or Flames of War.
....i've played all-vehicles before, but man, Battletech is there for the Stompy Robots
is that GNC figures for infantry?
i do believe so....
