Worked for Pilks for 7 years in their glass processing division. Remains my favourite job during my 32-year working career
I was a glass cutting in nz 10years grate place to work
My grandfather was Foreign Correspondent for Pilkingtons in the first half of the 1900s. He used to walk to work from Wavertree.
my family had a ... bit of involvement too
My grandad Brittain Adams company PVH (Potteries Ventilating and Heating Company) developed and made the cooling process equipment for the the end of the original Float glass production. I wish I could find out more original history,.this was such a revolutionary process in glass making.
Would anyone know where I can find the full video to this?
So which part of the plant broke? And how did this result in the saleable glass?
The spout lip (where the glass drops off into the molten tin bath)
My home town
6:27 Yet a glass trampoline doesn’t work that good. I’m sure the genius Research & Development division at Pilkington’s will figure it out 🤞🏻
It's a shame nippon now take the majority of the work out of St Helens out of Britain....and close the factories down only a small fraction remain but for how long ..shame..its all about owning the name (qaulity)
