Watching this 2 weeks in the future, and the Nintendo Direct revealed: A new Zelda game A new Mario Party So, so far this has aged well. But it's only been 2 weeks, so...
Why is it doubtful that Nintendo is working on a new Zelda? It's been over a year since TotK released and from my experience they have never gone more than a few months from release of one game to starting development on the next.
I feel like no one noticed that there is a new zelda game released every year throughout the switch's lifecycle with the exception of 2022. 2017 - Breath of the Wild 2018 - Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition 2019 - Link's Awakening & Cadance of Hyrule 2020 - Age of Calamity 2021 - Skyward Sword 2023 - Tears of the Kingdom
There is a dedicated 3d Zelda game studio at Nintendo. They constantly work on Zelda game. My understand is that team works on new concepts, new mechanics, new ways to play constantly and some of these make it to new game and some of them might go the game after. But the point is they constantly work.
I think Edward refers to Twilight Princess remastered. Edward is the name of a character from Twilight, Twilight Princess. Midori got that it could be Zelda based on the Links Awakening remake, which was codenamed Richard.
Bro isn't it obvious? SPRed....'SPR?' Super. 'ed.' Education. Super Mario Education? What is an educational Mario game? Mario is Missing Remaster confirmed.
SP could be "Special" in SP Red, like the Game Boy Advance SP the SP stands for Special. Note that Smash Bros Ultimate was Smash Bros Special in japanese, so it could mean Mario Ultimate. Could mean they are trying to combine all the good things from every previous mario game into one mario game?
Edward makes me think of Toon Zelda because in Manga you got characters like: 1. Edward Newgate - a Pirate. (Wind Waker) 2. Edward Elric - short blonde guy with a "spirit" in a suit of armor as a companion. (Spirit Tracks) What other Manga characters are named Edward? (don't take this seriously lol) Also, I think the correlation between Splatoon and "Spiral" could be about sushi, but that's a stretch
People sometimes forget how popular Splatoon is as a franchise, especially in Japan. The Splatoon series has sold over 30.51 million with just 3 games, which is a top tier for Nintendo, so we're definitely going to get new games. Splatoon is so popular that other popular games reference it. For example, the character Futaba in Persona 5 not only looks like Female Inkling, she is based on an Inkling. That's why her shirt has a red-orange stain of ink and why her spirit in smash is an inkling
The Final Splatfest for Splatoon already has the codename "Sand" actually. The previous codenames for the Splatoon games have all had to do with storms/weather, and "Spiral" would kind of be related to tornados or hurricanes. It's very likely that this is the next mainline game, and if not, a spinoff.
2:20 The codename for links awakening was Richard since it was the name of a character from a diferent nintendo game that made a cameo in Links awakening. So Edward could be a code name for twilight princess or another game (Just speculation)
SP could stand for 'Special' , which could mean its a 'Special' version of a previous Mario game (I.E Remake / Plus). I could see them coming out the gate with maybe a Sunshine remaster, since it'd be a good way to flex the Switch 2's capabilities, using stuff like the water and goop to show off the console's processing power.
Apparently all Zelda games have code names related to royalty, a previous title had the code name “Richard” so “Edward” doesn’t sound THAT random. Also a previous Mario Party had the code name “buffet” so “banquet” makes sense.
One of the recent Mario Party’s had games that involved placing multiple Switches together on a table. Putting a lot of things on a table evokes the idea of a banquet. So maybe codename Banquet indicates they’re leaning into that feature?
@@Sylvatic98 I said 90% because there's a lot of stuff that just hasnt been revealed so that jury is still out on those. But she's clearly an insider that either works in TH-cam or in a gaming company like SEGA
I still think the next switches color pallet will be chrome/silver/light grey/platinum. Similar to the DS branding and alt color for gamecube controllers. They need a way to distinguish it from the previous gen, and an all white console would. . . blech. We already have that with the PS5.
Hey, Arlo! Fan of everything you do! My favorite G rated channel on TH-cam! I was wondering, with all the time we have until the Switch 2's launch, if you'd be interested in making a video about your ideal Switch launch line up? What would you, the fluffy blue monster, want to see at the launch of the Switch 2? How big do you think this system could be if it launched with Metroid Prime 4, Elden Ring, and Baldurs Gate 3?
thousand year door literally just came out, unless they gave that remake to a separate studio there wouldn't have even been a pitch meeting about a super remake yet
@alexkeith5999 I mean repotedly they've been fine tuning the game for a year. Usually development of a new game begins as the last one is wrapping up, at least for most Nintendo studios. I'm sure it would be FAR off from release though.
@@jaycup1487What makes this unlikely to me personally is that I don't see them working on two remakes/remasters back to back. While there is always a team at Intelligent Systems working on Paper Mario, I think the series isn't big enough to warrant two teams or giving the project to another studio. Surely they are working on a new Paper Mario for the next console by now. Besides, Midori didn't seem to have any codenames for any other Intelligent Systems games, does she? SPRed very much seems like an internal Nintendo name.
@Mimi.1001 oh yeah I certainly don't think that's actually what they're doing, my point was just that it's very possible they are working on something else already. People seem to think that because a new game "just released" literally nothing is happening internally now which is very far from how studios usually work
@@jaycup1487 it's not that they're just sitting around doing nothing, but they need to have the time to concept and pitch a new project before they can start working on it, not to mention support/bug fixes for the newly released title now that they have hundreds of thousands of people playing the game instead of a dozen or so playtesters so new issues will come up. Also because the game was made by human beings, they need time to rest and recharge after completing a massive project like that
RedStar and "Star" is probably referring to Mario rather than Stars and Moons collectibles, as to say "the new mainline 3D sandbox game starring Mario", you know, 🎶Jump Up, Super Star!
The idea of Kirby in a Mario Party is perfect! I’ve been wanting a Nintendo or “Smash” Kart for years. But man, a Nintendo Party game would be amazing too. I watched the reference video at the end before this one and hearing that code name just made me laugh. Cuz I never would have guessed anything remotely close to it.
6:33 LOL no a) splatfest codenames are datamined, not leaked by word. b) meaningful codenames (words) are almost exclusive to special seasonal fests like springfest, splatoween, and the final fest. c) a codename very likely to be the final fest was datamined in the past week with the latest update, and it’s not remotely close to “spiral”. what i mean to say is that “spiral” isn’t a splatfest
The correlation between the Zelda Series and the name Edward is that the Link's Awakening Remake was codenamed "Richard" another very traditional European name
Buffet was Super Mario Party´s code name and I think it is not in reference to "this one game having everything" but just every MP being a buffet or banquet of mini games
"Linguini Platinum" means tomorrow Arlo is going to do a video on Nintendo Creepypastas. Linguini is the pasta part (obviously). Platinum is the darker version of Pokemon Gen 5, involving the distortion world (which also plays into it, because these are stories that "distort" Nintendo IPs). Gen 5 seems like a random thing, except this reveals the number of stories he'll talk about (5). And it's specifically Nintendo because, besides being Arlo's specialty, there's the Pokemon link mentioned earlier, and Linguini is an Italian pasta, and Mario is Italian.
Oh man imagine if SPRed actually was a Super Paper Mario remake. They did add additional continuity forward in the TTYD remake, with the same partner photos in Mario's house that were introduced in SPM. The continuity with the first three games is so strong and unmatched. And there is a lot to be improved on in SPM. I'd love that. But don't put it on Switch pls, save it for the next system.
The code name for Super Paper Mario was, in differing places in the game’s code, sometimes WiiMario, but ALMOST ALWAYS spmario. “SPRed” feels so close to “spmario” that it genuinely gives me hope.
Spiral just makes me think of Gurren Lagann. I could see Splatoon going to space or dealing with some apocalyptic force that requires willpower and power of friendship combined to overcome it. And possibly some form of mech-like ability/gear/mech to use in gameplay. That, or your main character is gonna get flushed down into the octolands at the beginning of the game like being flushed down a toilet into the sewers
Spiral could be Uzumaki, which is a very popular style of Fishcake, which are called Naruto. A huge typhoon is also super relevant to Splatoon lore, and whirlpools are also called Naruto and often caused by huge storms.
I really REALLY hope SPRed is a Super Paper Mario remake. Could the popularity of the TTYD remake be setting a precedent for the return of the golden age of Paper Mario??

Apparently all Zelda games have code names related to royalty, a previous title had the code name “Richard” so “Edward” doesn’t sound THAT random. Also a previous Mario Party had the code name “buffet” so “banquet” makes sense.
These videos never fail to make me leak!
One of the recent Mario Party’s had games that involved placing multiple Switches together on a table. Putting a lot of things on a table evokes the idea of a banquet. So maybe codename Banquet indicates they’re leaning into that feature?
Anna could also be a Fire Emblem thing, since Anna is the one character who appears in practically every FE universe. Maybe a spinoff about her?
Midori has a SPOTLESS record. Whatever she says is 90% true.
I feel like that doesn't count as "spotless" lmao
@@Sylvatic98 I said 90% because there's a lot of stuff that just hasnt been revealed so that jury is still out on those. But she's clearly an insider that either works in TH-cam or in a gaming company like SEGA
I still think the next switches color pallet will be chrome/silver/light grey/platinum. Similar to the DS branding and alt color for gamecube controllers. They need a way to distinguish it from the previous gen, and an all white console would. . . blech. We already have that with the PS5.
Its clearly the Legend of Edward, Anna's Spiral Banquet.
Not quite sure what makes SPRed being a Super Paper Mario remake such a low possibility in Arlo's head?
thousand year door literally just came out, unless they gave that remake to a separate studio there wouldn't have even been a pitch meeting about a super remake yet
I trust midori with my life, most credible leaker I've ever seen
Never opening my mouth again. I'm cursed.
Cool to see atleast 4 of these are actually happening
9:10 Linguni Platinum... Platinum Games Pizza Tower Controversy?
Ok all these TopicArlos can't distract you from finishing TTYD. You still gotta play through Super Mario RPG!! We gotta support Nintendo RPGS!
I like Arlo's idea of a couple random characters on top of Mario Party games
6:33 LOL no
a) splatfest codenames are datamined, not leaked by word.
b) meaningful codenames (words) are almost exclusive to special seasonal fests like springfest, splatoween, and the final fest.
c) a codename very likely to be the final fest was datamined in the past week with the latest update, and it’s not remotely close to “spiral”.
what i mean to say is that “spiral” isn’t a splatfest
I’m just here for the Peach Let’s Play. Having fun Zebra Gamer?
2:32 Nintendo being work on Zelda doubtful? They have dedicated Zelda studio. They always, none stop work on Zelda games.
Yeah that part took me off guard, you’re completely right
The correlation between the Zelda Series and the name Edward is that the Link's Awakening Remake was codenamed "Richard" another very traditional European name
Buffet was Super Mario Party´s code name and I think it is not in reference to "this one game having everything" but just every MP being a buffet or banquet of mini games
sadly all that info Midori got was bought for.
(or "not midori", but yk.)
3:33 It's pronounced "banket", Arlo. The "q" in Banquet is pronounced like a k.
Not in English
I played the unholy crap out of Nintendo Switch Sports, I am embarrassingly far from anything one could call a “casual” game lover.
This leak is like that time Lex Luthor unmasked the Flash and said "I have no idea who this is."
3:27 that woman was robbed
He’s gonna talk about 100%ing the Luigi mansion games
Team Jacob... we lost...
😂
Oh man imagine if SPRed actually was a Super Paper Mario remake. They did add additional continuity forward in the TTYD remake, with the same partner photos in Mario's house that were introduced in SPM. The continuity with the first three games is so strong and unmatched. And there is a lot to be improved on in SPM. I'd love that. But don't put it on Switch pls, save it for the next system.
I love super paper mario so much
I'm pretty sure the final special splatfest in splatoon 3 is codenamed SAND? (allcaps internally). Not sure but i remember seeing that
Ah, the Skyward Sword Island music in the background 🥰
red star could be because “jump-up superSTAR” song when they were promoting the game.
Richard was the code name for Zelda Links Awakening Remake. That’s why Edward is another Zelda remake.
pasta tier list tomorrow confirmed
The code name for Super Paper Mario was, in differing places in the game’s code, sometimes WiiMario, but ALMOST ALWAYS spmario. “SPRed” feels so close to “spmario” that it genuinely gives me hope.
Midori has insanely good credibility imo. She has successfully predicted dozens of things lol
Spiral makes me think of a nautilus. Perhaps there could be a resurgence of prehistoric creatures running amok... er, swimming amok!
The codename for links awakening remake was Richard or something like that. Wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't as zelda
So as a prequel you could call it Mario Odessey Minus One? Godzilla in mario confirmed?
That's just Bowser lol
Great Stuff, as always!
new topicarlo video i will watch everyday for a month
I really REALLY hope SPRed is a Super Paper Mario remake. Could the popularity of the TTYD remake be setting a precedent for the return of the golden age of Paper Mario??
I don't know if I would say Super is part of an golden age to Paper Mario due to controversy.
Linguini Platinum? 5 hour review of Cooking Mama confirmed!
BTW, we already know that the splatoon 3 final splatfest is codenamed "SAND" from datamining
Anna the merchant is the most common reoccurring character in the fire emblem series. She’s appeared in almost every game. She’s arguably the fire emblem mascot.
Edward is referring to a 2D Zelda.
The Links Awakening Remake codename was Richard
Project Banquet will be Kirby Party, calling it now
I’m hope Spiral means an ARMS 2. All of the characters with the long arms have spiral eyes
The Legend of Zeldward, obviously.
I initially thought of arms when hearing spiral. But what if its majoras mask? Like when the time resets
4:01 a synonym for party
Linguine platinum... Arlo is giving us a cooking stream tomorrow! That is my prediction.
Arlo: "S P Red."
Me, a JRPG guy: "SPIRITED! It's a game with SPIRIT!"
