Carli.... it is definitely a good idea to keep the kitten away from your other cats for several weeks. Cats are prone to getting Upper Respiratory Infections (especially when they are introduced to new situations) and it is HIGHLY contagious between cats. The reason you have to keep him separate for a few weeks is because sometimes it takes a few weeks for the cat to show symptoms if they have it (sneezing, coughing, watery eyes, not eating, ect). Last year, my hubby and I adopted a kitten from an animal shelter, we brought him home and immediately exposed him to our other cats (not knowing we had to keep them separate). Well, they all ended up with upper respiratory infections (and we had 4 other cats at the time). So I had 5 sick cats for almost a month! It was a mess! So, please listen to the vet! I know it stinks to keep him separate for a few weeks, but it's definitely for the best so they don't get sick. I'm sure he's so very happy to have a loving home! So it will be worth the wait to have all your cats healthy! He did choose you! ❤🐱❤

carli, I'm so sorry for your loss. I to have lost many friends just this year there have been for, 2 suidcides. I've also been thru a loss of the love of my life, my army hubby, my best friend and dad to drinking and driving or a drunk driver. grief is hard and everyone goes thru it differently, I completely lost myself for 10 yrs after my husband passed and finally 2 yrs ago pulled myself up and will no longer live in the past. it's hard to loss those close to you. so like you said if your hurting, tell someone! also DON'T drink and drive! please, and I'm saying this to anyone reading this, cause I know carli already knows the importance of these things.

I had 2 close friends, literally like my brothers, pass away on my birthday and it was such a heartbreaking experience for my childhood friends and I. I feel it's still hard to get through because it's shocking how fast we separated and I had just started high-school with one of them, the other was in his last year of middle school and was my neighbor, and we (them including my friend) just stopped talking and didn't spend time as much anymore like middle school years because high-school is big and different. it was lesson our families learned and you never know if something so traumatic will happen even when you don't want to believe or think it will ever happen, but it happens, sadly. my condolences and prayers go to his family ♡

This video really brought tears to my eyes because I've been dealing with a lot of this in my life, my brother has been dealing with drugs for a while but doesn't want help. Or he feels afraid to ask for it because everyone in our family is just so hard on him. Even I am, because he's my oldest brother but he isn't showing me a good guide to life. Even old friends of mine who have torn me apart on so many levels aren't doing so well and I wish for the best of them. You're truly an amazing person. I genuinely think that those who are suffering from anything in life are just as beautiful as those who are doing good in life. And you're so honest and real, even my enemies I treat them with respect because I don't know what is going on in their lives, even though they aren't on the same mindset as me. It's all about, being better than someone in life right now. Which is something I wish can change. But I thank you for telling us that story, and I always hope for the best for you and Brett.

Hi again! I just googled about feline leukemia and the article I read actually talks about strays! It says if you take in a stray that tests negative, it is a good idea to have him retested 2 months later because feline leukemia has an 8 week incubation period. So maybe 2 months not 3?

I could not be more thankful to have watched this video. For a couple days now I have been surrounded with something sort of like a dark cloud that I have constantly been trying to fight. As days go by I the more I can't seem to identify why. Hey carli (: I was on the misguided website around 7:50AM the morning of launch and I kept refreshing and I was like okay if I stay on top I can get my best friend a dress and the rose gold bomber jacket that she was dying to get for her birthday in 2 weeks. She really didn't have the money because the dress and jacket because combined they were around 100 I believe, so once it launched i seen the dress I added to my cart I looked around for a brief minute but didn't see the jacket. So I was okay I'll just get the dress and it was around 8:05 and I was trying to check out and I was on the website refreshing putting in my address and what not , it kept booting me out and till 10AM I was refreshing the page and then it said sold out and I wasn't able to purchase. I was so upset and tried getting in contact with them and after a while I just gave up. I feel like there should be like a waiting list, that shouldn't boot you out. I've never heard anything about keeping cats separated for three months after blood work, maybe I missed something in your story but I see no reason why he would have to be separate. cats are territorial though so watch a tutorial on how to introduce them.
Awww ... he's a polydactyl (the extra toe)!!! They're good luck! Also, I'm the daughter of a vet and in vet school myself. 3 months is incredibly excessive. Have him tested when he's 12 weeks old (he looks pretty close to that now), and you'll be good. Though kittens still have their mothers antibodies, a false negative is EXTREMELY rare. If anything, it would be a false positive. I'd say give it another week, get him tested again, and you'll be all set.
Hi Carli, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend :-(. It's true...we have to tell everyone in our lives that we love them because we aren't promised another day. Regarding your new kitty...18 years ago my husband and I found 2 kittens around Christmas (the story was featured in the Star Ledger on Christmas Day). they were walking around a hotel parking lot. Long story short, we took them to the vet and because it was so frigid cold out their eye lids were frozen shut. Once they warmed up we could clearly see the didn't have ANY EYES AT ALL. They were brother and sister and 18 years later we still have "Squints". Tink passed away last year due to cancer. To answer your question about putting your kitty in a room by himself, we had no choice but to do that for a few years, especially when we moved to a new house because not having eyes was a huge challenge for them. They have their own bedroom with all the luxuries a human would have. They were/are very happy and content.

Actually your vet was correct. Kittens primarily need to be tested in another few months because sometimes it does show up right away . Was told the same for my kitty. But we let her around the other ones so they can adapt to another baby being there .

Carli.... it is definitely a good idea to keep the kitten away from your other cats for several weeks. Cats are prone to getting Upper Respiratory Infections (especially when they are introduced to new situations) and it is HIGHLY contagious between cats. The reason you have to keep him separate for a few weeks is because sometimes it takes a few weeks for the cat to show symptoms if they have it (sneezing, coughing, watery eyes, not eating, ect). Last year, my hubby and I adopted a kitten from an animal shelter, we brought him home and immediately exposed him to our other cats (not knowing we had to keep them separate). Well, they all ended up with upper respiratory infections (and we had 4 other cats at the time). So I had 5 sick cats for almost a month! It was a mess! So, please listen to the vet! I know it stinks to keep him separate for a few weeks, but it's definitely for the best so they don't get sick. I'm sure he's so very happy to have a loving home! So it will be worth the wait to have all your cats healthy! He did choose you! ❤🐱❤

I've also been thru a loss of the love of my life, my army hubby, my best friend and dad to drinking and driving or a drunk driver. grief is hard and everyone goes thru it differently, I completely lost myself for 10 yrs after my husband passed and finally 2 yrs ago pulled myself up and will no longer live in the past. it's hard to loss those close to you. so like you said if your hurting, tell someone! also DON'T drink and drive! please, and I'm saying this to anyone reading this, cause I know carli already knows the importance of these things.

I had 2 close friends, literally like my brothers, pass away on my birthday and it was such a heartbreaking experience for my childhood friends and I. I feel it's still hard to get through because it's shocking how fast we separated and I had just started high-school with one of them, the other was in his last year of middle school and was my neighbor, and we (them including my friend) just stopped talking and didn't spend time as much anymore like middle school years because high-school is big and different. it was lesson our families learned and you never know if something so traumatic will happen even when you don't want to believe or think it will ever happen, but it happens, sadly. my condolences and prayers go to his family ♡

This video really brought tears to my eyes because I've been dealing with a lot of this in my life, my brother has been dealing with drugs for a while but doesn't want help. Or he feels afraid to ask for it because everyone in our family is just so hard on him. Even I am, because he's my oldest brother but he isn't showing me a good guide to life. Even old friends of mine who have torn me apart on so many levels aren't doing so well and I wish for the best of them. You're truly an amazing person. I genuinely think that those who are suffering from anything in life are just as beautiful as those who are doing good in life. And you're so honest and real, even my enemies I treat them with respect because I don't know what is going on in their lives, even though they aren't on the same mindset as me. It's all about, being better than someone in life right now. Which is something I wish can change. But I thank you for telling us that story, and I always hope for the best for you and Brett.

As days go by I the more I can't seem to identify why. Hey carli (: I was on the misguided website around 7:50AM the morning of launch and I kept refreshing and I was like okay if I stay on top I can get my best friend a dress and the rose gold bomber jacket that she was dying to get for her birthday in 2 weeks. She really didn't have the money because the dress and jacket because combined they were around 100 I believe, so once it launched i seen the dress I added to my cart I looked around for a brief minute but didn't see the jacket. So I was okay I'll just get the dress and it was around 8:05 and I was trying to check out and I was on the website refreshing putting in my address and what not , it kept booting me out and till 10AM I was refreshing the page and then it said sold out and I wasn't able to purchase. I was so upset and tried getting in contact with them and after a while I just gave up. I feel like there should be like a waiting list, that shouldn't boot you out. I've never heard anything about keeping cats separated for three months after blood work, maybe I missed something in your story but I see no reason why he would have to be separate. cats are territorial though so watch a tutorial on how to introduce them.

Awww ... he's a polydactyl (the extra toe)!!! They're good luck! Also, I'm the daughter of a vet and in vet school myself. 3 months is incredibly excessive. Have him tested when he's 12 weeks old (he looks pretty close to that now), and you'll be good. Though kittens still have their mothers antibodies, a false negative is EXTREMELY rare. If anything, it would be a false positive. I'd say give it another week, get him tested again, and you'll be all set.

Hi Carli, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend :-(. It's true...we have to tell everyone in our lives that we love them because we aren't promised another day. Regarding your new kitty...18 years ago my husband and I found 2 kittens around Christmas (the story was featured in the Star Ledger on Christmas Day). they were walking around a hotel parking lot. Long story short, we took them to the vet and because it was so frigid cold out their eye lids were frozen shut. Once they warmed up we could clearly see the didn't have ANY EYES AT ALL. They were brother and sister and 18 years later we still have "Squints". Tink passed away last year due to cancer. To answer your question about putting your kitty in a room by himself, we had no choice but to do that for a few years, especially when we moved to a new house because not having eyes was a huge challenge for them. They have their own bedroom with all the luxuries a human would have. They were/are very happy and content.

Actually your vet was correct. Kittens primarily need to be tested in another few months because sometimes it does show up right away . Was told the same for my kitty. But we let her around the other ones so they can adapt to another baby being there .
It's for only 2 weeks though, not 3 months.

Hey Carli, I really admire you for continuing the video after you heard the news about your high school friend. I know it's not easy.
