    58 year old woman looks and sounds like 18, what the hell? And I must say, the sisters look great too!

      It's what happens when they don't use drugs. The Bangles were big in the 80's about Anti-Drug use. They took care of themselves and they look 30 years younger than what they should look at that age.

    This song was an anthem of the 80s, one of the songs of a decade and here we are 30 years later and the legends that are the bangles are so chuffed it all goes down so well,, that enthusiasm for music from Susanna Hoffs here is nothing short of an antidote to all the crap that goes on ........ Better now than she's ever been... Legends , all f them ...

    Both Vicki and Debbi, (along with Michael back in the day) had deeper voices, creating a deep, richer harmony that allowed Susanna's higher pitched voice to stand out. Together they created what mainstream fans recognized as the "Bangle's Sound".
    Hardcore fans, on the other hand, knew all their recordings, and therefore the depth and versatility of the different members of the Bangles, as each sang lead.
    Whether it be "Eternal Flame" and "Manic Monday", or "September Girls" or "Ask Me No Questions", they rock.

    I was there that night, I was up on the balcony and enjoyed every minute of the the concert. Being from England I was in total awe being in such an iconic venue. After the gig we went up the strip to The Rainbow bar and grill......... Lemmys local. What a night.

    A beautifully personal performance by Susanna Hoffs inparticular, she's so very happy to be performing and sharing music it is almost unique to her. Look out for her improvision, not technically but emotionally , she adapts her own performance to enhance the band dynamic meaning it's not all about her.
    Her understanding of how to perform songs is deeply engaging. She's a star but she deserves so much more acclaim, as do her fellow bangles.
    Some people don't think they are the greatest female band of all time, the same people think the world is flat.....

    • @ericfreeman5795
      @ericfreeman5795 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She actually almost goes falsetto in "the high note", which I personally prefer, because even in 1989, the original high note sounded forced.
      And as she's leading up to that note, she almost sounds like a little girl singing, which I found adorable. It's impossible not to love Susanna. You just want to hug her.

    All of them(Susanna, Vicki,Debbie,& Annette), fit so well together, it's like 1982 all over again. Not that Michael Steele's talents should be forgotten, but they work so much better with Annette. That's when they were really rockin.

      I've seen him playing tambourine on some of their gigs. I think he's actually a serious musician, but it's most likely due to being acquainted with the Peterson's.

    • @ericfreeman5795

      Actually Fred plays guitar, is a serious misician, and is friends with Susanna, who has appeared in his sitcom "Portlandia".

    • @jamiethornton6101
      @jamiethornton6101 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's the case. Fred did play and help backup. Vicki/Debbi were in a band with Amanda who you see called "The Fans". They were becoming famous and got write ups in the LA Times. But Amanda wanted a career and was going off to college. The other member died very young, sadly. Sue put up an ad to start an all female band. Nobody was responding. So She called an ad for Vicki's roommate. When she called, she got Vicki though. That was the famous call, right after Lennon had been killed. They talked all night and knew they shared their love of music. Right after this, a high school Junior named Annette Zilinskas called up Sue's ad. They had a very similar, long conversation. Sue told Annette, we just need a bass player. Annette said, let me learn it. Asked Sue for help finding a bass. The Colours were being born. Yes, the original name. Annette had never picked up a bass in her life. She was a singer and harmonica player. So while she was learning to play, Amanda agreed to fill in for some gigs. As Annette learned the bass, by listening to Motown; she played shows in the summer with the Colours. Now entering her senior year, the Colours disbanded. They renamed themselves the Bangs! The three put a single out, "Call On Me". Right around this time in '82, Annette would join again full time. She graduated from high school. During this same time, Annette's boyfriend Greg Davis started a band called, Blood on the Saddle. Annette would work both bands, and sing for them on nights she wasn't doing Bangles shows. The Bangles EP first came out in January 83 a delay, because of the name change from a boy band named The Bangs! who was going to file a lawsuit. But around March of 83, Annette was doing more Blood on the Saddle shows and there was a big problem. Bruce Springsteen himself came down and listened to the Magic Mountain concert with his A&R guy. It was a shock to the Bangles. They all got to meet him after the concert. The Bangles were about to be signed. But the problem was, so was Blood On the Saddle. And Annette was getting pressured by her boyfriend to quit the Bangles. Finally on a show at the Country Club in late May of '83, Annette and her boyfriend had a huge fight before the show. Annette ran out afterwards, leaving her bass. When she did, it infuriated the girls. Who had just about enough of her not being fully committed to the band. They told her we need a decision tonight. She quit the Bangles, and joined Blood on the Saddle the next day. Michael was already Vicki's roommate at the time. Michael also joined the Bangles on the next day. And that my friends, is Bangles history!
