I just want to thank you for sharing this information. My math is the pits...always has been. Seems all the other information I've come across might as well be in code or something...yes, Im aware its probably just me. But thank you for sharing and showing how this has worked for you and your birds. This is the 3rd time in 2 years I've referenced this particular video so I just wanted to thank you. My chickens thank you too! 🙏🏻

I personally love the pour-on as well and totally agree. You must do what's right for YOUR farm.
I also live in an climate that is humid and very damp in the spring & fall, so parasites can be an issue. We try to choose breeds that are more resistant, but they are still creatures that need care.
Mites are a real nuisance for all of our livestock. The humidity in the hay barn over the summer is just a breeding ground. Last year the entire country had an oak mite explosion and we did not escape it... including myself. And you know what finally killed them? You guessed it, pour on.
Keeping the health of the animal in mind, with proper feeding and preventatives, is great, but if I do not address the parasites I know are here, to comply with someone else's protocol or die by an 'all natural' label, it's not only foolish, but neglectful. My livestock will certainly not thrive, but they may also die.
Not to mention, the alternative is what? Not raising my own food? Buying from factories? No.
If using a chemical deformer is needed, use it. If you don't need it, don't use it.
But just like gardening or really anything in life, we must educate ourselves to our own unique situation and solve problems from that point.
The other reason I love pour on is that it does double duty with very easy, accurate, intentional dosing. It's just part of our routine welcoming Spring & bedding down for Winter (when parasites are doing the exact same thing).
One other, almost wives tale, worm on a full moon when parasites are most active. If you need to repeat, new moon. If it's good enough for the Amish & farmer's almanac, it's good enough for me. 😆 And do it on an empty stomach.

Barely any parts per million of the ivermectin reaches the eggs after traveling through the chicken's kidneys etc..Impossible for a human to even get an OD of Ivermectin from eating a treated chicken.A big chicken is only 5-6 lbs.

Totally agree with you 1000 percent. Couldn't have said it better myself so thank you so much for this video. Look forward to any future videos you make as well. I have 22 chickens. 8 egg laying hens and the rest are silkies lol. I just noticed a spaghetti noodle like worm in my chickens poop today and all I seen was one thankfully but one is one too many bc I'm sure the others have them as well so I need something to get rid of them and I've had no luck with diatomaceous earthnfood grade in the past with worms or lice and mites so I'd like to get something that I know will work and I have plenty of eggs put back so I'll be fine during the withdrawal period.

I've used ivermectin. It works well and not too difficult to administer. The stuff you put in the water is a little easier though. Used Safeguard Aquasol for the last treatment and that worked well. It's not easy to find and if you do find it you have to buy a whole bunch. I have a local vet that will prescribe just as much as is needed for your flock so that makes it easy.

    • @THEFOURTEENACRES

We personally still eat the eggs. If you are concerned about potentially consuming the Ivermectin, you wouldn’t want to feed the eggs back to your hens. You could always feed them to your dogs or other livestock.

Many humans take ivermectin as a cancer treatment. It won't hurt you at that level, but I personally would never sell them to someone else because that needs to be their decision if it bothers them.
