True. The camera work was dope in this skit, especially when they panned in at 3:18. It sorta turned the puppet into its own separate character. Good work.
That helped to hide Bill Hader because he started laughing, also most of these shows with a live audience have a monitor for people in the audience who cannot see the current set and when they do things that are recorded previously such as a scene that's outside or in the case of SNL, one of Andy Samberg's digital shorts where you can hear the audience's reaction.

This is at the same level as the alien abduction skit, where Kate McKinnon broke Ryan Gosling. Pure genius and one of the classics that comes along maybe once every 2-3 years.
I thought he could have been a lot more grounded and straight. Not once did he look even vaguely surprised / uncomfortable / unsettled at anything Hader’s character said or did

Serious note here. Anthony clearly isn't comfortable talking about his service, so he's doing it through Tony the puppet. Tony is a great therapy tool.
We did the same thing @a hospital I was in when I was 12...they were finger puppets, but the idea was the same. It really helped me delve into having been molested. When you can play a degree of seperation,it's empowering.

I think that this is positive for Anthony. It’s obvious that he hasn’t come to terms with his PTSD, and Tony is helping him out by allowing him to understand and work with his mental issues.

It's one of those things that as an actor, or in this case puppeteer, you really do need to naturally play off others... but here I think it's kind of a fear/respect socially intimidated thing.

Seth is so great. His character starts out being obnoxiously enthusiastic and cheerful. And tries so hard to stay that way. He didn’t break once watching Bill Hader on a roll 😂
I just found out seth was having a massive panic attack after his meds wore off during the sketch, and that he was a second away from running from the set the rest of the time. so it's amazing how he still pulled himself back together to smile intermittently and finished the sketch. and it fits perfectly, I always thought he was just reacting to bill's darkness. what a trooper.
Seth looks like a natural on stage. Imo, he’s an underappreciated multitalented artist that has worked in children’s cartoons, adult animation, voice acting, and musical performances.
Neither did we back in Grenada. Except the smoke wasn’t coming out our mouths. It was coming off the bodies we burned to prevent the lice and malaria from spreading. We laughed, cause it was one more day we were alive… in that hellhole called Grenada.
Vanessa has this look like she's 'kind of into' Tony molesting her puppet, then when Hader gets involved I was just waiting for her to break, how she didn't is pretty amazing. She was awesome in so much stuff, really miss her.
Just looking at Bill and his puppet was cracking me up! Then he intones: "Anthony Peter Coleman, United States Army, Dishonorable discharge May 19th, 1983" ... You just know it's gonna be a classic the minute he uttered those words.
The thing I love about this skit is how Kenan and Vanessa's characters just go with it, they IMMEDIATELY start collaborating with Peter's story and puppet. It's delightful

will always be one of my fav sketches. bill haders "stefon" character caught my eye and really pulled me to this show years ago as a teenager. he has such a great energy that lingers in all his sketches, hilariously talented dude. also the person in the audience that starts dying laughing around 1:08 and 1:24 made this even more funny than it already was lmaoooo

Granada is the southern part of Spain that was once the last bastion of Islam in Iberia and is part of Andalusia/Andalucia.

Low key one of the best parts of this is how the other two students just completely roll with it in the scenes he involves them in.
The girl is so hilarious, the way she calmly enters onto the bizarre puppet sex, like it’s as natural as can be!!😂😂
It's one of those things that as an actor, or in this case puppeteer, you really do need to naturally play off others... but here I think it's kind of a fear/respect socially intimidated thing.
Probably very little of this sketch was improvised. I'm sure they had a day or more to rehearse it.
I've noticed that Bill always stays in character after the sketch ends and the camera is zooming out.

I just found out seth was having a massive panic attack after his meds wore off during the sketch, and that he was a second away from running from the set the rest of the time. so it's amazing how he still pulled himself back together to smile intermittently and finished the sketch. and it fits perfectly, I always thought he was just reacting to bill's darkness. what a trooper.

Seth looks like a natural on stage. Imo, he’s an underappreciated multitalented artist that has worked in children’s cartoons, adult animation, voice acting, and musical performances.
Seth was the perfect straight man, most guest hosts and many SNL players could not have done as well

Neither did we back in Grenada. Except the smoke wasn’t coming out our mouths. It was coming off the bodies we burned to prevent the lice and malaria from spreading. We laughed, cause it was one more day we were alive… in that hellhole called Grenada.

Vanessa has this look like she's 'kind of into' Tony molesting her puppet, then when Hader gets involved I was just waiting for her to break, how she didn't is pretty amazing. She was awesome in so much stuff, really miss her.
She almost never breaks, she's magical

will always be one of my fav sketches. bill haders "stefon" character caught my eye and really pulled me to this show years ago as a teenager. he has such a great energy that lingers in all his sketches, hilariously talented dude. also the person in the audience that starts dying laughing around 1:08 and 1:24 made this even more funny than it already was lmaoooo
