    I like your philosophical approach of accepting flaws and mistakes, learning from them, and not needing perfection to love and appreciate vintage.

    Your Lane cedar chest is the Waterfall design; you are blessed to have a lovely interior with an intact tray. I have my mother's Waterfall cedar chest, now 75 years old. The veneer is damaged along the front edge and lower trim; however, I am not inclined to refinish, repair, or paint it at this time. The dings and nicks are part of its history. Kudos for using Fusion mineral paint! I discovered its amazing qualities three years ago and have painted several pieces for our home. Yes, the cured finish is both smooth and strong. Congratulations on your channel!

    Nice ! So, how about the actual cedar interior / cedar scent ? I have lightly sanded cedar , then vacuumed of course , to enhance / restore the properties for a better storage chest .

    I really appreciate that you share your learnings. It’s more realistic to see that side of the process and is very motivating.

      I’m happy to hear it’s motivating 🙏🏽❤️ it’s disappointing for things not to come out exactly the way you planned and hoped (especially after dedicating so much time!) but I got some good lessons for the next time and can always continue to work on in improving this piece in the future! 😊

      Photo stylist, recycle artist and avid thrifter for 45 years - that is sooo cool!! 👏🏽 I have so many questions but the one I will ask is, what (if you can choose) is your favorite find (or couple)? Thank you for the kind words and so happy you are enjoying the channel! 🙏🏽

    Love the color! I recently painted my own Lane hopechest given to me on my 16th birthday😊 Sanding between every single coat of primer & paint helps with flawless finish! And yes, I always wait a whole day in between primer coats!

    • @MelbaMakes
      @MelbaMakes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your wait time, helpful to hear just better to be safe and wait longer in between coats of the primer. I hope you are enjoying your chest - I’m so excited to move ours into our room and start using it! 😊

    Really like how it turned out. This was a very motivating video for me since I also like giving furniture makeovers but get a bit discouraged when it’s not perfect ❤

    What about painting just the damaged part of the piece.? It may work if it's just on the bottom. Or use paper or fabric as a trim..

    Hello, I see you’re using the blue lamp, you decided not to use in that apartment you furnished and designed. Looks good in your home! (I became a new subscriber from that video.) I need to redo the top of antique home chest. It got water damaged. 🙁 So I appreciate this video, thanks.

      Hi Susan, I’m glad you appreciated this video and the challenge series! Good luck with your chest - I hope it turns out just the way you want! The lamp in this hose is a different blue lamp that the one we found in the challenge series (one of my favorite finds!) I still have the other one too, you will definitely see if/when I use that one! 😊
