This is a misguided policy aimed to do good. It is so very, very patronising. I dislike “patronising” with a passion. Patronising is done onto you and poisons your soul.
On the other hand, “care” is good and it is important to develop entitlements based on need. Need should always be evaluated on the individual never the group otherwise it will constitute discrimination if the reward is not universal.

My 6 year old daughter amputated part of her pointer finger. Emergency, starship orthopedics, the surgeons etc were all awesome. BUT, we then a week or so later had an out patients appointment, we arrived early. My daughters form had a dark blue mark on it, which meant I could see it in the pile that the nurse picked up, to call who was next. We were the only European descent people waiting, the rest were Maori, pasifica and middle eastern descent people. We watched as my daughters file was shuffled to the bottom of the pile 3 seperate times and people who arrived late (told off by the admin staff for being late) got seen before us. It wasn't until I stood up and quietly pointed out that I could see what was happening that we were suddenly called in... it was blatant racism.

I had a similar situation... arrived in A&E with severe breathing problems at 7pm one winter evening... sat in pain and stressed for breath, high temperature and coughing and struggling until 11.30 at which point I begged by husband to just take me home I was too weak to sit and wait any longer, it was pouring with rain outside... he went to fetch the car to get nearer so I wouldn't get too wet trying to get me into the car. The doctor appeared while he was doing this, helped me into examination room, examined me and became alarmed told me I had pneumonia with both lungs badly congested and put me on oxygen then rang the ambulance for urgent admission to Nth Shore. All the time I waited people with kids skipping and playing, young people playing on cellphones with sniffles filled the waiting room and were taken in a solid stream before I was helped they were all either Maori or Pacifica and I was the only European in the waiting room .. the doctor was so concerned about my condition after seeing me I got good treatment and an apology for my long wait. I was prepared to wait for little children to be seen as with kids you never know and they needed to be checked out, but some of these people were young seemed robust and they happily walked out after being seen while I continued to wait and I am elderly. I had drawn the receptionist attention to my plight but she said I had to wait! Afterwards when the Doctor told her to ring the ambulance urgently she couldn't do enough. I felt I was lucky to survive this experience. Race must never determine who the Doctor sees first.. the degree of urgency must always come first. This is a very dangerous and racist policy!

NZ has been spiralling down hill for decades and both Labour and National haven’t helped. We almost need a new Labour or New National, it’s never going to happen but would love to see everyone boycott National and labour and just vote small parties, simply to send a message neither of them have helped NZ in Recent years. Gangs are close to matching police numbers, crime is getting out of control, all assets were either sold off or privatised, utilities are all privately owned, houses are higher than most western countries, it just keeps getting worse year on year, something more major needs to happen.

His mother had died, and he had obvious need as he was disabled and appeared to suffer from mental issues as well as Spina Bifida. Apparently Habitat for Humanity and Housing NZ had agreed to re develop the site that the house stood on and put more units there. Habitat for Humanity had no other houses available and Housing NZ said that they could not provide an alternative as they were prioritiisng Maori and Pasifica. Maori themselves have to deal with these so called Elite grifters who exploit their people, keep them dumbed down and victims, fill their heads with "beat up" versions of history - while they work the gravy train looking for more loop holes in the ancient document just to fatten their pockets further! Time to tear up the treaty it is now dividing us and we are no longer equal.

David Seymour there are many reasons why a 14 year old girl would decide that becoming a woman is so awful that she would rather pretend to be a man instead. Yes this girl needs love and understanding but that doesn't include the people around her participating in her self destructive delusion out of 'politeness'. If you play the pronoun game with these kids then you are ultimately making it harder for them to recognise and work through the complex issues that lead to these feelings in the first place. This girl needs truth and psychotherapy. Not pronouns and lies.

We keep getting told that the health system is racist. Ok, tell me when a Maori person has been turned away from a hospital or a doctors surgery or denied needed drugs simply because they were Maori. When you put it to people like Shane Reti and other claimants they refer to Maori poor health outcomes. That is quite different from racism. In order to maintain good health, the individual has to take some responsibility. If you're told that your health is at risk because you smoke, you stop smoking. If you're told that you have to lose weight in order to unburden your heart, you lose weight. That all supposes of course that you could be bothered. We're told that some Maori don't feel comfortable with Pakeha doctors. Well, if I said that about Maori doctors I'd be called a racist.

    • @SoulTrader-d1c

That is a media lie, they get turned away because they don't listen to their Doctors & most health problems are from poor choices , fast food too much sugar, alcohol and being in active & just plain lazy . 90% of modern illness is down to poor choices . Maori & Polynesians out smoke the rest because even when you tell someone to stop for their own good the just double down & blame ol whitey for their own lack of self responsibility . The reason many Maori end up in jail is they commit more crime and finally after many soft touch approaches do something that gets enough publicity the state has no choice . The Maori friends I grew up with are all successful in marriage and as a result have a happy a content life & are doing very well because they avoided divorce . All my friends that avoided divorce are very well off, race never made a difference in their success . This direction is going to destroy the fabric of this society .

My pakeha husbad died in December of colon cancer aged 58 (diagnosed 10 months prior) Unfortunately we live in a remote region. If he had been maori/Polynesian he would've been tested for this aged 55 but pakeha have to wait until 60 years. It's sad as he worked 60hours plus per week and also renovated old houses which we sold to first home buyers.

I am sorry you lost your good man, you can speak with experience that everyone must have the same degree of health care and the surgical waiting lists have to always be on urgency first and never on race. Everyone must be treated the same or we are not equal, Governments have no right to make up these cruel policies.... as you say if only your husband had been tested early perhaps more could have been done but that is in no way your fault the fault lies at the door of the Labour Government health policy. Bless you Christine it is sad when a hard working man goes so young especially one who has helped so many into homes of their own... he was obviously a fine man and he will have left a big hole in your heart but nothing can take away your memories! God bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Speaking from experience. We gave faced so many issues from medical center especially private clinics. These issues we have to take it further to health and disability. And we found out that health and disability organisation was not treating other ethnicity fairly. We were poorly treated from them .They just ignored us. This all happend in the labour government. I was so glad that We have lots of experience how these medical doctors has response negatively to some if our race And we think that we need to get new people that will look after us but not try to kill us We agreed about the new government labour government has using our people to make up their number to govern the country I beleive that all organizations and departments and other government sector should change and all the government workers. All those government workers under labour government tried to but our people to slavery again. We need a fair government that looks after people and to make people strong and independent and unique.😊😊

Aotearoa .....The Land of the Wrong Woke Crowd

    • @valeriehughes1008
      @valeriehughes1008 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Aotearoa is a Te Reo word... Te Reo was created in 1860 from a number of tribal dialects and the word does not appear in many tribal dialects so for that fact it should never be used as it does not represent all Maori. English and tribal dialects were spoken at the treaty table in 1840 and so English was spoken 20 years before Te Reo was created... so how come Te Reo is the first language? It was created expressly to give Maori a united voice for communication and trade with the settlers arriving in 1860+ and it met with huge opposition from Maori themselves as many Chiefs felt that their own tribal languages would be lost if Te Reo was established. Maori are very selective in what parts of history they choose to remember! For example they like to forget the musket wars of 1820 when they managed to wipe out 1/3 of their own population and commit genocide on the Moriori in 1835... Most chiefs thought the treaty was a blessing in 1840.. it meant the crown would protect them from further utu put an end to slavery (many smaller tribes were almost wiped out and huge numbers enslaved), land grabbing through war and put an end to cannibalism.

    • @shoutatthesky

@@valeriehughes1008 Aotearoa is a word that's been in common usage for both Māori and Pakeha for many, many years. It is not an official name but that doesn't mean it is somehow an incorrect term to refer to our nation.
When we form the republic we can all talk about it and hopefully come to some consensus of an appropriate name.
There's no point arguing over the past. All citizens should have the same rights regardless of race, or ethnicity. Māori culture is and will continue to be a massive and beautiful part of the collective culture of the country - whatever you call it.

@@shoutatthesky Agree but Te Reo which is rammed down our throats as the language of the land when it does not represent all Maori and it was created 20 years after the treaty. The treaty was set up to make all New Zealanders equal which it did for a great many years until the Activists learnt how to milk the system and we allowed them to... we could remain as we are with a "no more claims taken" put on the treaty... it was a fine document and set us up as the first democratic country in the world.
