Wowzers, Nick. That was EPIC! We did see on your GPS message that you were going to another destination, so we knew you were up there. Thank you, GPS! I’m glad you got that one under your belt and don’t need to try it again with your bum knee. Thank you for taking us along on that courageous journey, although just watching it was “pins and needles!” We are proud that you use good judgment on these crazy ones! ❤
Thanks for sharing Nick! Your 2016 footage was crazy! I'm driving out to Estes Park tomorrow for a week. Your videos get my hyped up to go there every time!
Again .. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure ... Great video with incredible views ... And ... A view of Longs I've never seen before ...
That view of Longs and Pagoda is epic! I was kinda mad at myself for not getting a better (longer) shot of it. But I was more worried about falling off the rock.
Congratulations on your climb to the Spearhead. Some of the best memories and hikes are the ones that are unplanned. Great footage. Side note, we hiked to Emmaline Lake yesterday. We were the only ones there. It's so beautiful. I would have never known about Emmaline and Cirque Lake if it wasn't for your two videos. We even ate cheese crackers on the shore and thought of your mom.
Scrambler special! Stunning country.
Its so awesome back there. I will have to go back next year and do all the lakes.
Spearhead !! Beast. Awesome video series Nick
Thanks Rudi!
More awesome!
Get up there 💪
Awesome hike! I wanted to try this one this year, maybe next year!
You got it! The good thing is is that its only like 800 ft up from Frozen Lake. Which isnt too too bad. Bring a helmet!
Great video!!
Looked like a 7.5 on the
gnarly-meter!
It was a good one! Fun little scramble.
Glad you accomplished spear head but let's not do that again. My heart can't survive another ledge. Glad your safe. That was another amazing hike!
Thanks Evelyn!
Woozers! That was impressive! It did look like a almost natural rock path on part of that hike up! Skectchy parts at the top though! I'm glad you didn't test the limits! But the views were amazing!
Thanks Lauren. Not to worry! I dont do the sketchy stuff. No way I was getting on that summit rock. Even with ropes I would not try it!
Great video!
Thanks Ian!
Whoa! That was EPIC!!
The Glacier Gorge is legendary.. I am incredibly lucky I get to hike there.
One of those peaks that just does not look possible without ropes from below. Way to go!
There were 2 sets of climbers going up the face! The other 2 were going way up late in the afternoon as I was going down. They had to descend that thing in the rain! Climbing that thing up the face looks insane.
@@nicksangetta8874 had you not seen the climbers that looked stuck as you mentioned would you have cliffed out where they were instead if veering off to the west?
@@andrewjensen6305 I am guessing I would have found my way over there eventually, but seeing the climbers pop over the top as I was like 200 feet below really helped me know where to go. Perfect timing.
@@andrewjensen6305 But on the way down, I am not sure. Lol. If I sensed it was too steep I would have checked my GPS and went west to get back on course. I think the climbers were down where it was more cliffy, but I think the slope was just really steep and loose. Probably doable.
Well done, Nick! For your next adventure, you should do the Arrowhead-McHenry’s Traverse, or the Thatchtop-Powell Traverse.
Thank you! I would love to connect Thatchtop to Powell and do the loop. But cant do the class 4 stuff.
Congratulations Nick ! And thank you again for sharing such a beautiful hike.
Thank you!
@16:29 to 16:42, the little lake you at top right of the view is Blue Lake!
Great Job
Nick! Epic Views All Around.!
Thanks for Getting Up There. ⛰️🥾
Thank you! The views are unreal up there. I had forgotten..I will have to go back next year.
I went up to frozen this year and same thing ha tempted by that nice looking gully. I ended up only going to the saddle and then descending the other side ! Kind of a nightmare.
When I got home and read about it, I saw that there is that class 3 route on the east side. The book calls going up one side and down the other the "Tour de Spearhead". That is awesome you got it! I've added it to my list but want to ascent from Green Lake, not go down that way.
Ha that is awesome to know , I really want to go back for the summit block . The east side would definitely be less loose to ascend than west. It had a series of 10 foot cliffs that were actually fun and reasonable to get down.@@nicksangetta8874
Nice one Nick! The views of the Glacier Gorge peaks from up there are incredible. Way to go!
Thanks Miderguy!
total balls Nick, fantastic!
Thank you! That was an epic one for me.
So jealous. Been across the base of the Spearhead but don't have what it takes to make it to the top myself. Impressive that you did it without prep. Just shows your route finding skills - perhaps picked up in Utah ;) The greatest skill is knowing your limits and you showed it by not trying to make it to the final summit rocks.
Thanks David. Something happens to my route finding skills when I go to Utah. I get lost!
@@eddiedelisio Even if I had wings I dont think I could get up there. I would freak out. I do want to go back and do it again someday but take it up from Green Lake instead.
Good one Nick, that counts, I think you were on the summit, I think that little point that's sticking up a little higher isn't the summit of a peak, it's just a little thing jutting out. I like the view of the Keyhole route past the Keyhole, like at 8:06, that we don't get to see a lot on TH-cam. Long's Peak doesn't have its familiar shape from where you were on the summit.
I went home and read the book and Lisa Foster says the move to that top rock is serious class 4 with insane exposure and not to take it lightly. But she mentions the window in the rocks, so I was right there!
Only fuss is deviating from the planned hike & telling no one but otherwise? Then again, you did tell the two climbers so it's a null. What a lovely hike and the views were extraordinary. Maybe your patrons can buy you a garmin inreach for early Christmas? I had mine on my shoulder doing colorado in May & worth the peace of mind for the worry warts back home.
I do have the Garmin Explorer so I had help if needed. I sent a message when got to the top and when got back down. But no one knew ahead of time I was gonna be there.
