I m from " The City of Joy"....I really love KOLKATA...it has got a lot to give to the world...which no other states can give..m proud of my city...lots of great street foods...hang out places...educational institutions...comfortable resorts.... places to reside...amphitheaters...lot of tourist destinations.....east or west KOLKATA is the BEST.We can see and get glimpse of each and every place in Kolkata...Every one should visit Kolkata once in her/his lifetime.

I am from Kolkata.. and let me tell u this part does not even constitute 3% of entire Kolkata... A very very small area around Salt Lake, Rajarhat, New Town actually looks good... Bt mostly all are housing projects.. Kolkata is far away from Delhi-NCR or Navi Mumbai...

Kolkata has plenty of tourist destinations like Victoria memorial,alipore zoo,Indian museum etc and its street food is almost worth hotel food which u can get in 5 time lower price

বড়ো বড়ো অট্টালিকা থাকলেই সুন্দর শহর হয় না।একটা আদর্শ শহর হলো সব কিছুর সন্নিবেশনে তৈরি এমন শহর।যা পরিকল্পিত।তবে আমাদের ঢাকা থেকে infrastructure এর দিক দিয়ে কলকাতা এগিয়ে আছে আর এর পেছনে ব্রিটিশদের অবদান ।যখন ঢাকা অবহেলিত হয়েছে তখন কলকাতা বিকশিত হয়েছে।যাক,বাদ দেই পেছনের ইতিহাস।কলকাতার জন্য শুভ কামনা রইলো।অনেক ইচ্ছা আছে কলকাতা যাওয়ার।সুযোগ পেলে ইনশাআল্লাহ ঘুরে আসবো।
ব্রিটিশদের অবদান তো পূর্ববঙ্গেও কম ছিল না ৷ যার ফল বর্তমানের বাংলাদেশ ভোগ করছে ৷ তাহলে কলকাতাতে ব্রিটিশ অবদান নিয়ে আলাদা করে বলা কেন ? ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশে একটা কোণা নেই যেখানে ব্রিটিশদের অবদান নেই ৷ কলকাতা সেই সময় ব্রিটিশদের রাজধানী ছিল ৷ সুতরাং , অন্য সব জায়গার থেকে সেখানেই বেশি গুরুত্ব দেবে সেটাই স্বাভাবিক ৷ তবে স্বাধীনতার সময় কলকাতার যা ছিল তার উপর নতুন করেও অনেক কিছু তৈরি হয়েছে এবং হচ্ছে ৷
