Pruning after they flower is the key. I tend to remove new growth on the trunk and ficus on developing by pruning as more new branches grow from where you have pruned after flowering finished.

Hi all a question. Has anyone tried the epsom salts method late in the year as in early November. I was going to try it but was worried it was too late in the year. Also I'd appreciate comments on anyone's experience on using the epsom salt method. Thanks.

My apologies for the very late response. I was off youtube for five years and about a month ago, returned back to making bonsai videos. I am sure you have found the answer you were looking for, Would appreciate if share with us in your reply. I have not used Epsom Salt on bonsai trees.
I trust all is well with you and yours.

HELP! My sister bought me a Satsuki Azaleas Bonsai Tree. I have no clue on how to take care of it. Some of the leaves are starting to turn dark green. Should I be concern? How often should I water it? How much light does it need? On its tag it says it is an outdoor bonsai, but I am growing it indoors. I am so scared I am going to kill it. Can someone please help me???

please put it outside. its really not gonna survive indoors. it doesnt care about a lot of rain water. except when in flower, the flowers will fade earlier. put it in a half shade or sunny spot and water as soon as the top dies out.

These plants like acidic soil. Once a month I add a tea spoon of vinegar to the water and water it. The pruning is very different for Azaleas, are you pruning it even if doesn't flower ?
Here is one of my videos on pruning Satsuki Azaleas: th-cam.com/video/ZyV5yu_tEp8/w-d-xo.html
I hope you get this right and it flowers for you next year. Do let me know what happens next year, with proper care it should flower.
      Cheers
      IK

@@mikbonsai Does vinegar count as fertilizer or do I still need to buy some?

    • @mikbonsai

Vinegar creates acidity and is not a fertiliser. You will need to buy some.

Shocking acoustics, can't hear what you are saying and most of the time the camera is in the wrong place. Sorry I can tell that you are working hard at this but the production is shockingly bad.

+mikbonsai My High Standards? Mik I only want to hear what you are saying and see what you are doing as you work on the bonsai. All feedback is good feedback.
