A new video rounds out my Sunday. As much as a week away from the business is a cost; time away on holiday with the family is important. I look forward to seeing videos from your new book room when it's up and running. Target smashed it just shows what talent, knowledge, and hard work can get you.
I'm so excited to see your business growing! I love seeing these backend videos on book collecting, it gives me a greater appreciation of my local booksellers.
Can you show us some books in you personal collection? Obviously you love collecting books. Is it hard to make these discoveries, then have to sell them? Do you ever buy something intending to sell it, but you fall in love with it and can't part with it? Love your channel. Thanks!
Congratulations Tom for exceeding your target in such a short time; wonderful. You really are a delight to watch explaining all the glorious books you buy, love and sell. My gosh though you work awfully long hours but your presentation is super and worth the effort. I wish you continued great success. ❤ x

Hi Tom: Last summer I read all of Shaun Bytell's books of his day-to-day diary of book sales. I loved them all so much and maybe you could write one too??? You could write about the entire process of finding new stock, selling it, and what customers say to you that strikes you interesting or amusing. It could be a best seller???!!!
Totally agree as a business owner valuing your clients privacy is just in good taste well done, new to the channel and am obsessed reminds me of Saturdays with my mom at the BPL in grand army plaza. Very comforting
I am a bookseller too and I can understand the whole paradigm of sales. I make a content about it and going away means starting from scratch again once I am back.
This is so amazing! I published my first book earlier this year (the infantile fairies of mundane battle) and I love seeing people so passionate about the craft of writing.
Congrats on smashing your target! I think we were all holding our collective breath - will he or won't he make it? Next year when I'm in the UK, I'll have to drop by your new shop.
Man. I know how you feel. I am an indie author that does almost everything on my own, and every month is basically a version of this. Balancing ad spend and earn. Hustling on various platforms to get the books known. It's cool to see a behind the scenes version of what it's like for a bookseller, because I can seriously feel every minute of what you're going through.
I often flirt with the idea of setting aside a few shelves for private press books to resell-first just as a small side gig. It's inspiring to see someone going through the mechanics, albeit on a more serious scale.
I am elated enough people in the uk love books, to support your trade. Here is Silicon Valley, a good week of selling books would fetch 100$. You’d have to have naughty magazines and pot sprinkled on the shelves, too!😂
How often do you come across late 19th/ early 20th century Archaeological publications on your book hunts? Such as the Tomb of Tutankhamen, or academic publications by Cambridge, Oxford, or the British Museum?
This week two thirds of your income come from a single client. Sounds a bit risky if you rely on a few clients for most of your income. Is that just something you have to live with in this line of work? Do you have any goals when it comes to your clientele in order to get a more steady income?
Language is important. Words are important. Use of words is important. 'To make' means your taxable profit: gross income minus all costs = what you make. 'To make' is short for what you made in terms of a net profit.
Working in sales is an emotional roller coaster for me. I'm always worried about hitting that target, then wonder what I was stressed out about aftet hitting it 😂 highs and lows.
I was raised to believe deliberately damaging a book was a mortal sin. Just hearing about him tearing out pages gave me goose bumps. I’m guessing he wasn’t wrapped real tight but that is such entitled behavior. Off with his head! I am not amused.
You look a bit shook after that Friday deal. Like, you thought you’d bring 50 books and sell 5. Not come home with 5. I bet in hindsight there was a few you wish you’d have brought. Good on you for getting paid - those are beautiful books 🙏🏻

This has become my favorite way of spending Sunday evenings. Love the videos!
Glad you enjoy it!
Tom has the best videos!!
I agree @jusatin
Me, too. Have learned a lot. Oh, please do a show on Bestiaries sometime. Love them. So imaginative!
The topics and books he talks about are very interesting, i have a friend that i know would love this channel
Yay my Tolkien items were mentioned!!! Thank you Tom.
No, thank you!
I'm still jealous but only a little bit. I own too many books already. I couldn't have afforded them anyway so why worry?

I will do a video on my personal collection! It’s very specific so I don’t run into the issue of wanting to keep things I don’t expect to

Always a good time when I get to see you selling books :D
Well done. When a book which was left on the shelves, is read by another human being, inspiring them, you succeeded.
Ahhh caught this upload early and happy to watch as I get ready for work! Love love the content sir!

Me and the missus are probably coming to the book fair.
Hope to see you there!! We live in Doncaster so not far.

I'm happy you have a good work/life balance.
The realities of solo trading 😅😅 gives me so many memories of my Mum running her business at home.
A very ambitious goal! I'm glad you reached it. Good luck next week, as well!!
Hi Tom, could you make a video on starting a book business ? With info on like how to start out, where to look, websites ect

Another really interesting upload with some wonderful books. Best of luck with your new book room.
I have watched many dramas that haven't riveted me the way your two selling days did. Bravo!!
I love to watch the passion in humans. That may sound a bit overboard, but it Really is a simple and wonderful thing.
Thank you. This is becoming one of my favourite things.
More power to you. I'm afraid if I bought a collection of Tolkien books, I wouldn't be able to part with them.
And congratulations on the book room! Will it be in/near Oxford?
Yes! It’s about half an hour south of Oxford

Can anyone tell me what the name of Tom's bookshop is or how I can find his online catalogue? Many thanks in advance-Best wishes.
Check the description for his website, I was looking for it and found it there.
I must say, this channel is fascinating!
which program you use for uploading books to your homepage?
Here I am, sitting here, watching a super busy, super-productive guy. I've gotta get moving. An inspiration, is it enough?
How much should I expect to pay for a first edition of the wizard of oz ? How would I know if it’s real ?
Tolkien seems to be a big seller. Has that changed with the movies and Amazon series?

Do you takk with Archaix channel on TH-cam?
I hope someone will read them, or recycle them so more books can be printed. Good luck making your £10,000. We all need more money.
I’ve purchased books from him and I do (carefully) read them 😊
Can I purchase a few books from tom?
that herodotus volume looks incredible what i wouldnt do-

Don't you sell to already interested/committed parties? I'm not a toff, but it seems like what I would do.

I NEED to ask - are you british people really that obsessed with Tolkien or is it only Tom's speciality? 😁
Who isn’t obsessed with Tolkien? One if not the most influential author in the past 100 years
I and many of my Aussie compatriots are also Tolkien-obsessed (though none more than me I suspect!) I'm saving up to buy some of Tom's finds :)
