What, no beard! 😅 Haha, coincidence, I shaved mine off too! Ah, now to the car - man I love those old classic F1 cars, I actually remember seeing this one when it first hit the track! It's beauty, mate! Should stick to the road well with those foam tyres, all 6 of 'em! Hope to see it running soon! 😁🤝👍
Haha yeah, it was getting in the way. Oh yeah, me too mate. The old F1 cars are just awesome! Yeah it should be nice and grippy with that much foam on the ground. I'm thinking I might look around for some rubber slicks though, just so it looks a little better on the shelf. Hoping to get it out for a run very soon. Cheers mate! 🙂👍
I agree mate, they look great and have nice detail. Apart from it being unique with the six wheels, I also had to have it in the collection as it's the rere of Tamiya's 3rd RC, which I should have mentioned in the video 😬. For me it was a must have. 👍
That's a cool looking RC car, and old retro F1 car! I used to love all those old F1 racers, but these days I'm not paying much attention to what's going on anymore... I've started liking those ultra simple on-road RC cars, especially after I learned how to work with carbon fiber, would be cool to try to make one at some point, he he...
I agree, Mads! I think they're a great looking car and a nicely modelled on the real P34. Haha same here. I do like watching it but not really a follower. I hear ya mate, it's so easy to build something like this. I've always had that same plan for an F1 or pan car. I made a couple of chassis for home made buggies as a kid, of course they looked like Dr Frankenstein built them! 😂 Way before carbon fibre was around I used to buy the undrilled PCB fibreglass sheets... Actually that's a lie, I stole most of it from my school electronics glass room! 😂 Anyway, I believe it was the same as the RC manufacturers used to use in the early F1 an pan cars, of course without the copper layers. You should do it mate, it will make for an interesting video! 🙂👍
This car is really iconic. Whether original or any ReRe. I am seriously considering getting the new ReRe version (2022) 47486. This one even has the old ABS body, so it would be a nice an challenging build. The money disappears faster than you can make it 😁 Thanks for the video, cool car, good video.
I agree, very iconic F1 car. I used to look at this one in the old Tamiya Guide books and think "6 wheels, that must be fast!" lol, but never managed to get the original so I'm happy to at least have the rere. Oh nice, I didn't know the new rere had an ABS body, that is cool! Haha, I know what you mean about the money. I think my hobby room is like a black hole, just sucking in the money 😂. Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. Hoping to get this one out to the track when the weather is more favourable. 👍
Thaaats coool!👌I'm so glad you have one, I've always had my eye on them. The suspension is interesting. The whole thing is actually, steering etc. Looking forward to seeing more of this one,. As usual another great video Mick👍thanks for sharing mate🍻🦘🇦🇺
I think so too mate! I'm glad I finally got one, same I've always eyeballed them but never bought one until now.. Well until a few months ago when I actually bought it 😂. It is a very unique car. I'll get the electrics done very soon and get it out for a rip! Thanks mate! 🙂👍
@@RCHobbyShed Sounds good, I'll be keen to see how the steering works, should the steer wheels closest to the rear turn a tighter radius than the front steer wheels 🤔?, just curious and can't get my head around it 🥴😂
@@outbackrcaustralia4895 Hmm, I didn't have a close look but both sets of front wheels appear to turn at the same radius. I'll try to show that better in the electrics video. 👍
@@outbackrcaustralia4895 No mate, it was an interesting point. I did check it and both sets do turn the same radius. Maybe on the real one they might adjust it a little differently due to each set of front wheels having a different wheelbase between the rear wheels 🤷♂️, but on the model (this one at least) both sets of wheels operate the same way. 👍
Me too mate! That steering setup is pretty funky. I watched a few videos about it a while back, pretty interesting. This was one I had to have as I've been eyeballing it for about 40 years, well that was the original version of course but this is close enough for me. Cheers mate! 👍
G'day Pete! I think so too mate. Yeah it is a shame they don't at least put them in the XB cars, especially the "Pro" ones, oh well. It will be interesting to see how it turns. Cheers mate! 👍
Yeah, definitely a distinctive looking motor alright Mick, looks really nice 👍🏻. 1977 hey… I was 2yrs old 🤣. I think I would have preferred to build it too but at least you have the electrics to do! 😃
They are mate, very different an cool! Haha, I was 5 at the time 😂. Yeah, it would have been a nice build. Apart from the electrics I need to add bearings. Since there's really not much to an F1 car it will be like rebuilding the whole thing 😂👍
Hi Mick, a very cool looking historic F1 racing car. The finish on the outside looks very good, but that’s typical of Tamiya, although, those defects on the inside of the body, are a shame, although not seen. You will need to get under the chassis and have the bushings out! Got to give you something to tinker with 😉😊😉. I believe the Tyrell having the 4 wheels steering the front, was in fact slower than the competition at the time, extra weight and drag of those wheels, although I believe corner speeds may have been their forte, the extra grip to turn in, but hey, impressive still. Enjoy the model. Take care and best wishes. 😉😊😉
G'day John! Oh yeah, for sure. Yeah it does look very nice on the outside. I think that black patch on it would scrape off with a finger nail quite easily but I'm not too worried about it. It actually makes me feel better about my paint jobs 😂. Those bushes will be the first things to go! That sounds right mate, guess if the 6 wheels setup was huge advantage they'd have all done it. It's it great to see them on the track, such a unique car. Thanks mate, cheers! 🙂👍
I had one of these when i was a kid dark blue yellow decals can't remember who it was made by but came ready built was reasonably quick .....brings back memories....looks awesome Mick 😎💪🔥🔥🔥
Oh cool! I remembered seeing a blue and yellow P34, so I had a look on Google. It seems to be the one they ran in 1976, also very cool! Such a unique car. Glad it brought back memories for you mate. 🙂👍
Very cool! I like this version the best of them, it has the detailed engine. The new one they are releasing this year has the closed rear end so it doesn't look quite as good as yours does! I am looking forward to mine showing up regardless, in another month or so! Looking forward to seeing yours out running, it'll give me an idea what to expect from mine!
They are mate! Me too, always been my fav. I had a look at the new one, it's the Argentine GP version. Although it seems to look correct for the Argentine GP car, you're right it just doesn't look as good as the Monaco GP version with the exposed engine. Hoping to get mine all ready to run and out for a cruise very soon. Will be great to see yours when it arrives! 👍
Awesome! I saw this car race live, in 2001, at Silverstone. Unfortunately, it was running 3rd, but then broke down. Also unfortunately... I went (as a Schumacher fan) with my dad (who was a Hakkinen fan) and Hakkinen won that day. I still haven't heard the end of it!
Thanks mate, I think so too! Oh that would be awesome to see. I've only ever seen them (or any F1) on tv and video. Running 3rd was pretty good, shame it broke down though. Haha, 20 years later, he's not gonna forget in a hurry! 😂👍
Really a very nice car - I pre-ordered a kit version (I think...). Expected delivery date sometime in June, I believe. Already got a Formula-Tuned 32T and an Acto-Power F1 motor for it but I think mine will be a shelf queen.
Oh yeah, they're real nice! Hope you get the kit version you ordered. I'm not sure if that was just the place I ordered from or not. I could have sent it back of course, but then I'd have to wait for a kit to be available and I'm not a fan of waiting 😂 . Either of those motors will look right at home in it. Mine will pretty much be a shelfer too, I'll give it one or two runs but it won't be anything crazy. 👍
We need to see a strip down and upgrade video on this one. Super curious how the steering works and if there is a gearbox or whether the motor just drives the axle?!?!?
I'll definitely do a video when I fit the radio, might be in a few days. The motor setup is like most f1 and pan cars. The pinion drives the diff gear, you can see it at 7:25 I'll probably give it a little run in the driveway when I fit the electrics then take it to a track for some better footage. 👍
Probably the only race car id ever buy. They have a very basic steering system as per the 1:1 scale! Saw an original for sale on the Aussie RC page a few months back. What happened to the Scott Ian goatee?!
I'm not really an F1 fan or anything but just had to have this one as they're so unique. An original one would be nice! The beard had to go, I got sick of it hanging in my food when I was eating. 😂👍
I think it's a really nice car Mick. I've always been interested in this and looks like it would be a fast one . I have a 3.5 turn. I'm sure they banned this car same as what happened to Chrysler Hemis . Very interesting to see this ,chassis looks great and the shock is cool. Thanks for showing us this mate, always wondered what they are like.
