    Wow I don’t think I’ve ever seen you looking so intense, Bryan. Just watching that was more helpful to me than any of the videos from the usual CFI TH-camrs I’ve seen.

    Protip: if you're on the Fisk Arrival during Airventure and you can't hear Fisk Approach on the radio, press your push to talk button and ask anyone if they can hear Fisk Approach because clearly you're not the one having the comms issue.

      I am amazed every year at the number of “pilots” who are totally off of the Notice Page…. If you can’t do the speed or the altitude… use UBER

    At least now I understand the hard landing… it is incredible that you converted your Bonanza back into a Comanche in one 360* turn! Most AP/IA would take upwards of 6 months for that conversion!!!!

    This should be required watching for anyone doing the approach. I learnt more about the process from this video than all the others combined.
    Also the composure you showed when getting that go around was next level.

    Wow, that was intense, Bryan. Nice job! I've only seen one other person (on TH-cam) hit the green dot on camera. I'm sure others did it too, but you nailed it and have proof!
    I know that had to frustrate you, being called a Bonanza so many times. lol

    • @GaryMCurran

      Well, you know, he WAS looking at that yellow and brown/green Bonanza when he was selling the Grumman, maybe they knew his voice, but didn't know he had bought the Comanche. But, they did figure it out at the end.

    This is why I avoid flying in to Oshkosh during the show. It's all the yahoos doing the wrong thing. It's really satisfying when you make it though! The random guy transmitting on ATC about not hearing anything is really frustrating. Getting cut off by the private pilot who flies a couple times per year is just scary. Nicely handled!

    You don't have to be a pilot (I'm not) to know how stressful that whole thing was, how valuable it is to have another person who knows what's going on in the front seat, and to know that was a fine landing on that green dot!

    Flying into to Oskosh Sat or Sun is one of the most stressful aspects of flying one will encounter. Once 'in line' from Rippon then Fisk it gets a little easier. Still a white knucle experience. Done it 3 times and each time the adrenalin is pumping.

    I can see how intense the arrival was, from about 6:30 on. And then the biplane made it so much worse. Even without that it was a lot of work. (also, it makes me wish local tower would give out compliments!)
    12:56 "ah sh__ what runway? and frequency?", I feel that.
    15:00 whoa. good job on going around for that. like you needed any more stress!

    Longtime subscriber here- first time caller- and frequent KOSH Green dot surviver! Huge kudos to you on great CRM and especially NOT listening to ATC trying to get you to turn harder (i.e. wing stall) on base. Less confident pilots would have complied. Perhaps this is something the EAA can give as feedback to ATC? Love your channel and sad I couldn’t fly and see you at KOSH this year!

    Nice job. I flew in Sunday evening landed around 7:30pm before the airport closed. Long line from Portage hold to to Endeavor on up to Fisk. Was flying at 65 knots at times to stay behind the guy in front of me. Cleared up once they started splitting us off at Fisk. Landed on 36L. I think 36 is easier than 27. 36 is just a long base to final and you have both runways to land on (36L and 36R). 27 is tough because it's just one runway that they are trying to cram all those planes into and you have that tight base turn to final.

    Did the Comanche have a Flightstream when you bought it? FS210 or FS510? Awesome spot landing! Ready for Commercial and CFI! Amazing that confusing the plane types doesn't cause way more problems! Not a Bonanza! Dan isn't a Skyhawk. Guess the controller was expecting a F-18 90° angle right turn? 🤪

    • @JustPlaneSilly
      @JustPlaneSilly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The former owner installed the G175 with Flight Stream. I like it because I don't care for the Garmin at all. Doing it on foreflight and sending it to the GPS is better than trying to enter it on the GPS. Once I win the lottery, the panel is going to get redone in Avidyne, Dynon, or something else. The Garmin touch screens are not my favorite.

    • @FlyChuckyFly
      @FlyChuckyFly 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JustPlaneSilly I've been mulling over getting a Flightstream for my setup just to be able to send plans from ForeFlight. Everything I've heard about trying to upload databases from the Ipad directly has been a disaster. Not a huge fan of the touch screen but I've managed to work with it. At least the GI-275's have a knob that can do pretty much everything except highlight the altitude bug.
