The period in music, where half of the artists lip-synced to somebody elses’s vocals but it was still better than nowaday’s music where we have tons of real singers from the talent shows.
I have never understood the contempt for current music, on the UK chart right now you can see the top 10 and you have soul, country, folk, reggae, rock...
It's crazy to realise that all the vibrant young people jumping around in these videos would be in their 50s and 60s now, that's how long ago 1990 is now (2024). That means a few of them are grandparents now and maybe ready to draw a pension lol.
Thank you for this Francis. Hard to believe these songs are 34 years old already! Some gems both forgotten and known. Very diverse charts and a good time for rock music. That Jamtronix cover is absolutely terrible! You should hear their one of 'Yesterday Once More' by The Carpenters! Shocked 'Read My Lips' wasnt a huge hit as it's kind of well known! Strong line-up here. My top favourite is the underrated Skid Row with the stadium rock ballad 'I Remember You'. I also love the songs by Madonna (true classic from the Queen of Pop), Michael Bolton (Excellent power ballad), Heart (a classic), En Vogue (love these girls), UB40 (Absolutely great group and a classic hit), Family Stand (Forgotten classic), Cher (in her best era), Adamski ft Seal, Jimmy Somerville (a true anthem), Allanah Myles (still popular today that song), Faith No More, Jimi Hendrix, Natalie Cole (used in American Dad!) and of course Billy Idol's forgotten gem. Shame the Brits rejected it (my joint #1 here with Skid Row).
Some great ones from Lush, Ride and My Bloody Valentine in there. Oh, and I believe that "Michaela" was actually presenter Michaela Strachan trying her hand at a pop career, and failing lol, see also Jenny Powell's ill-fated attempt at a pop career a year later.
Great vid, but why did you change from showing each weeks entries starting from the highest new entry (in the 1970s/early 80s), to starting with the lowest new entry in these and other late 1980s/1990s charts?
( 1:39 ) Erasure !! Thanks francis pelletier ;-);-)
Erasure - Blue Savannah 1:39 ;-)

How ironic in the video, there is a song called Read My Lips 👄

Only a class country like the UK would have Lush and Ride and My Bloody Valentine on their single charts,,, :)
Singer of Garbage is in the Goodbye McKenzie video
This time period really had something for everyone on the charts.

Snap The Power iconic still sounds good today
I really like the Bizz Nizz track. I believe the group behind it later became 2 Unlimited
No lie UK music hit really different than here in the US. ❤️
The Brits definitely extended the 80’s. 1990 UK chart had more 80’s vibes than Billboard chart that time.
The first year or two of every decade is usually the same vibe fashion and sound of the decade that just ended.
Blue Savannah is such a gem of a song.
Thanks For Sharing!
From Out Of Nowhere. Class
WILD WOMEN DO!!!!!!!!!
Easter by Marillion is also a great track
Прави впечатление, че много големи хитове са извън Top 20 ...
