This cemetery was almost lost to time just a few years ago, but thanks to efforts to save it, this important site is being preserved. We just purchased a lot in Harrodsburg, KY with an actual civil war cemetery on it. We are told that there was a battle near by and that that's where the soldiers lay. The markers are so old that if there had been writing on them, they are long gone. Not to mention all the growth that has transpired over the 150 years or so. Wild grape, trees, and honey suckle. pretty interesting what y'all are doing there.
Hey, fellow Kentuckian...not far from you. I've been to Harrodsburg and the fort, interesting area. Merry Christmas. I really enjoy Robert's channels,I've been watching years.
Very, very cool!😎🪦 Since it's your property you can go to the cemetery at any time. I'd love that! It'll be so much fun to explore and discover what stories you'll find out there. Remember your tools...a soft bristle brush, some D2, water, and your camera because you're going to want to document. I'd make a map as graves appear. Location and all that. I really hope you find names, dates, etc. So excited for you!
Fellow Kentuckian here. I know the director at Perryville Battlefield and he'd love to know more about your cemetery in Harrodsburg! Congratulations on your new home and history.
In the 1930 s depression time the CCC was formed one of the things they did was to document veterans graves. There should be records possibly in the courthouse.
My friend, Dona and I used to go on photography trips several years ago. On one of our trips we found an old cemetery that was in terrible shape, extremely grown over and lots of stones were damaged. I posted photos on Flickr of what we found. Someone from the small town where the cemetery was located saw the photos and had relatives buried there. He contacted other people he knew that had people buried there and they all came together on several weekends to clean up the place. They were older then and I know some have dropped out from the maintenance of the cemetery by now. It's important that these places are not forgotten. Thank you, Robert for all the work you do!
What a cool story! It's so awesome that people came out to help clean up. It'll never cease to amaze me how cemeteries can go lost and hidden. But sadly it happens. Thank you for sharing your story!
Those leaves and debris look thick,, but I think raking it all around there would uncover a lot more. Thank you for doing what you can for the cemetery
Wow!😎 It was cool getting to watch you uncover the pieces of gravestone. Sadly, you weren't able to discern any writing but hopefully (hopefully!🤞🏼) as you work on it you'll be able to see something. It's good seeing Cecil. It's like the cemeteries "speak to you both" by getting you to make the finds that you do. How long do you suppose that headstone had been under the tree? Yet here you come along and "save" it. Love it! I hope & pray things are okay now with your family. Take care!😊
Interesting that you and Cecil, found another grave. Will be intersting to try and put together those pieces of headstone and figure out whom it would of belong to. Would like to clean up that whole slab as well, knwing it most likely doesn;t have anything on it, BUT one never knoews. Would turn over that Big foundation or stone and find out IF there was anything on it.look forward to more work done on this Milner Cemetery.
We love history mysteries!! 😁Uncovering the past is what we're all about!! Enjoying everyday here. Hope y'all stay safe and I'm looking forward to more. Ya know winter up here needs things to pass the time. Ok,I'm going now.
If you haven't thought about it, you need to paint the sweet gum stumps with some kind of stump killer (there are several different brands). If not, you will have sweet gum bushes in the spring.
So are the videos of the big cemetery restoration just going to be members only or is it eventually going to be on the main channel. I don't remember seeing any video discussing this but may have missed it.

You need to hook up with Millennial Stone Cleaner. I don't know if he travels but he does a beautiful job cleaning and fixing headstones.

Have you considered purchasing a forensic X-ray machine which will identify buried bod locations.
Do you mean like GPR, that is crazy expensive
