    I enjoyed watching your video. My family and I spent a week in Rome enjoying all of the city's sites while traveling through Europe. The Colosseum was magnificent. We look forward to returning and exploring more! We will keep an eye out for more of your videos. - Keep in touch-Michelle :)

    Buy the ticket at the Roman Forum entry, not a lot of people knows about this, I went at 9:30 and got tickets for 10:10. The line when you have the ticket is very short. I didn't wanna pay for the reservation and it worked out for us.

    Great video & tips! Thanks for making it. My wife and I went to Rome and London last January (right before COVID really hit). I’d highly recommend going off-season if possible. Rome was in the low-60s and comfortable. There were hardly any tourists at the Colosseum and the Vatican. We went to each of those sites on two occasions; the first on guided tours and then again on our own so we could explore at our own pace. London was chilly in the mid-40s but not unbearable. Nearly every museum we went to was virtually empty. We were told that the line to see the Crown Jewels in the summer can be up to a 4 hour wait. Being there in January we were able to walk right in to see them and went in three different times (just to get out of the cold, lol).

    As you would know 3000 people can be in the colosseum at any 1 time. You said it, go early. This applies to all of Rome. You can have access to all parts even without being part of a tour. The Roma pass is a good idea if your time is limited. I'd recommend a BIS - unlimited rides on all forms of public transport for €25 for the week.

    Thank you for all your great tips. We will also be traveling to Europe during the month of May and will be visiting the Colosseum on the 27th. Thank you for the what to wear tip as this has been my hardest chore ( what to pack ). Sunscreen, hat, comfy shoes and a good water bottle are a the top of the list. Unfortunately the Colosseum direct tickets have already sold out, so we will have to bite the bullet and take a private tour. We are visiting 19 cities and taking tours in each city which are adding up quickly, but I do feel like we may not get the full experience just doing it ourselves. So thank you for making me feel a little more happier about parting with more $$$. Now onto your next video.

    • @tonysayegh33
      @tonysayegh33  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dianne... 19 cities?! That's incredible. Now that is a marathon vacation! Good for you. You're correct about the price quickly adding up though. If you're interested, Sandeman offers free tours in several different cities in Europe. We've used them in multiple countries and enjoyed it. And, all you do is tip your tour guide at the end if you enjoyed it. There's several companies doing this too. Negative is, the groups tend to be larger, but the guides are usually very passionate about what they do... Because their incentivised to do well and earn your tip. Have fun on your amazing trip and thanks for stopping by! ~ Tony

    I'm planning my trip to Rome atm and tbh: The lack of information for the trip, especially colosseum is frustrating me. I was interested in a tour with roman guy in colosseum, especially the one in the night. Apart from the hefty price (80 euro per person), what keeps me also from it is the length. 3 hours? Me and my wife, we are kind of interested in cultural and historic things, but its not like we want to spend hours and hours with it. I think we will get bored quickly and a simple entry for us alone will be our solution. We wont be able to see the really cool stuff then unfortunately.

    I have to completely disagree with the tour guide thing. They over charge and I mean OVER charge for a basic tour. I just got back from the colosseum last week and I bought my ticket directly from the colosseum and received the same tour as you for about 54.00 euros total for myself AND my partner. ALWAYS go directly through the website for guided tours. Those separate tour companies are a RIP OFF. Also you can buy tickets for the colosseum from the Palentine hill veneer the line isn’t as long. My partner and I went early and got our tickets no problem.

    Great tips!!! 2 questions: 1- What did you notice (if you did at all) about families with small children?? Is there a stroller parking/station or anything like that? Were there a lot of stairs (silly question)? How would you manage with a toddler? And 2- How long is the entire trip to the Colosseum? If I wanted to dedicate a whole day to it, which other attractions are nearby that we can tackle on the same day? Thank you so much@!!

    • @tonysayegh33
      @tonysayegh33  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ms Garciamayorca. Great questions! 1) There were A LOT of families with small children. There are grade school kids on field trips throughout the entire day. I'm sorry, I don't remember if there was stroller parking, as we don't have little ones yet. And yes, there are a ton of stairs. But if you look at the video at 2 minutes, 14 seconds, you will see an example of one of the elevators on-site. We didn't use them, but we did see people utilizing them. And 2) The entire trip was about 6 hours. If you wanted to dedicate an entire day, you certainly could. The surrounding sites are (just to name a few): Arch of Titus, Collina del Palatino, Arco di Constantino, Basilica Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Roman Forum. The tour we booked covered most of these, but we would have rather seen them at our own pace. Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip and thanks for stopping by! ~ Tony

    Thanks for the great information. You mentioned that you can explore the Colosseum on your own once the tour is complete. Is this still possible if you continue on to the Forum with the tour? Will you still have access to the Colosseum on your own?

    • @tonysayegh33
      @tonysayegh33  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. I wouldn't recommend going to the Forum portion of the tour unless you're really really interested in having a guide explain the history of it. I recommend staying back at the Colosseum whole the rest of the tour goes off site. From what I gathered (unconfirmed), you can't go back in once you leave. Just give the tour guide your speaker and hang back. Enjoy your trip!

      No unfortunately not. There's a staircase that takes you down to the floor. And you use the same stair case to come back up. For ME, the third story view was more important than the 'dungeon floor'. All of it was an amazing experience nonetheless.

    Italy needs to rebuild it so we can really have some good times. I want to fight there.

      We paid a lot. I think it was $180. Per person. Their base price is significantly less than that.

    So I've written the RomanGuy and confirmed that *NONE* of their tours include *both* the top and the dungeon of the Colosseum. Very disappointing, This means for two people to see the top tier and the dungeon I have to purchase two separate tours and fork over *$414.51 US* They offer a measly 5% discount (and no more, I asked) *if* you book 3 or more tours, lol. So if I also fork over another $231.45, I get to see the Vatican and all levels of the Colosseum for............$613.44 Wow.

      Hey Davey. Your comment got flagged as spam, but I've sent it through because I think it's important. That stinks. Seriously stinks. I looked up the email confirmation from my 2017 visit and the tour was called, "Colosseum Dungeons Tour, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill". In looking on their site, you are correct, it's no longer offered. Awful. Because it was such an amazing experience. And to be clear, we're not paid by the Roman Guys; shoot, we're not even a monetized channel. That being said, I hope the tips and tricks discussed help you. Because we made this video to help people no matter what service they used to see the Colosseum. Thanks for this very important update. Hope you have an amazing time in Rome!

      Hey Tony. Ya, I'm guessing the entire tours business writ large has, forgive me, colluded to create this racket. I've written several other tour companies and they all tell the same story. Looks like they've figured out how to milk the utmost tourist dollars. I don't know if you can even see the arena floor and Hypogeum together, or the top tier and arena floor together. Meaning... 3 tours??
      Thanks for the information. Cheers.
