Yuki is fast in Quali but falls back in races. But Yuki wasn't quicker in COTA (Liams Q1 time beat Q1 and Q2 time for Yuki) then lost when Liam went from P19 to P9 beating Yuki. Liam is under a tenth in Quali. Liam beats Yuki in Sprint Qualis but hey you don't mention that. Yuki Tsunoda lost the most places of any driver during the 2024 Formula 1 season, finishing 1.7 places lower than he qualified on average. Add in 2m in damage (7.9m over 4 seasons) to Liams 125K for the front wing in contact with colapinto. Liam's 2 P9s include a spin by piastri in Brazil so points would be the same. It is only Las Vegas yuki destroyed Liam. Liam also lost points with the wheel issue at avu Dhabi. But he hasn't driven any of them except Qatar in F1 Abu Dhabi in F2. Context is important and Ford might have a vote. Yuki should have destroyed Liam completely but didn't. Either way I am happy if either Yuki or Liam got the drive but I also realise it is not as easy as a 6-0 stat.
@@MeHighG I think Ford would have had a say also. If Yuki had got the drive and did really well then 2026 would be awkward. Helmut wanted to keep Liam last year and replace yuki until Honda stepped in (allegedly) so Yuki is lucky to have to drive this year.
Some say one of the reasons they kept Checo was because he was loyal to Christian during the whole "Horndog Files" episode. Funny how that all got swept under the rug.
@@thehotlapshow Apparently, Christian amended the performance clause in his contract, after, Checo came out in the media in full support of him. You have a driver that is underperforming, but do not have a performance clause in his contract? Mind you, we all knw what contracts mean in F1. Even in the 80s and 90s they were not worth the paper they were written on. As soon as a driver says, "I have a contract for next year", you know he's gone.
Yuki didn’t destroy Liam at all. The closest he came to doing that was in Vegas. But the team principal said they had messed up Lawson’s car set up and nailed Yuki’s. Across all their races Liam has the edge 6-5. If AD hadn’t been a pit crew disaster it would have been 7-4. Liam’s wheel to wheel is also way more advanced than Yuki’s. RBR chose correctly. Liam’s ceiling is miles better than Yuki’s.
Im not doubting what you say, as I said, I was not bothered either way but I am excited to see what Liam can do in a Red Bull alongside Max. However I think Red Bull saw exactly what you suggested about Liam's ceiling! Appreciate the comment!
What a lot of biased, clickbait rubbish. Nobody gets "screwed" FFS Any team hires the driver that they think will be the best fit, and perform for them. They have no reason to waste time "screwing" people. How could that possibly be of any benefit to the team?? Cherry picking factoids to support your opinion only works on people who have no understanding of the subject matter. But if that is the audience you are wanting to build for your fledgling channel, then you will end up with subscribers who are just swapping miss-information, and rumors, and there are far too many of those channels already. If you can't build a credible, forum to the benefit of all motorsport lovers, then just don't bother.
Fair point! , However You did notice the question mark though right ? Sorry to make you feel like that, most of the internet were thinking Yuki got screwed I thought I was providing a fairly balanced view in the video. Let me know what you think...

plus Yuki was never a Red Bull driver, he always has been a Honda's driver.

What controversy. Yuki's too slow. Liam got the seat. If Yuki wants it he needs to go faster.

@@thehotlapshow I'd agree that its a pretty balanced view, it seems you've got all of the lawson fans on your back.
