I just found your channel today, and I’m so grateful I did-your playing aligns so well with what my ears love to hear!
I know the major and minor scales and pentatonics up and down the fretboard, as well as the chord tones for common chords, including those outside the scale. But I’m struggling to create more dynamic and engaging solos, especially when it comes to building suspense and using the interplay of note choice, timing, sustain, and other expressive elements.
The section at 5:06 was absolutely beautiful and a perfect example of the kind of sound I’m striving for. You complement the backing track so well whereas I often feel like my playing doesn’t blend as naturally.
Do you have any advice or practice techniques for developing these aspects of soloing? I know it’s kind of nuanced, but I’d love to hear your perspective or see a video discussing this.
Thanks so much, and keep up the amazing content!

      thank you for your comment!
      any advice?...I will try :)
One thing is knowing chord tones - as I tried to show in the video.
Another thing that works well for some people is singing along - while improvising.
Do the fingers follow the ear? Do our fingers lead - with certain shapes and patterns?
It is okay if the fingers lead sometimes...

biggest advice is: Practice very very slowly. (often overlooked in our world of speed ☺)

It is a C major scale, not C pentatonic, but C Ionic, or hexatonic having 7 sides or in music 7 notes. Pentatonic is 5 sides or in music 5 notes.

I was trying to keep things as easy as possible.
since this approach is more focused on chord tones
but thanks for pointing it out👍

I am open for critique! But I dont understand what you mean by this. Could you explain a bit more?
The tutorial is not about chords - its just about soloing and chord tones.
      I do talk about the Cj7 chord-tones at 4:55
