I'm not a fan of a guy who misses 15-20 games every year, either due to "injury" or just because he doesn't want to play the second game of a back-to-back, so I vote no. That said, as long as we don't give up Lauri or Keyonte and too many of our upcoming first rounders it could be interesting. Lauri and Leonard on the frontline could help the youngsters that are left grow without the stress of trying to carry the offense.

yea thats what Detroit thought. And Charlotte. And Sacramento for twenty years. And Chicago. The Spurs are on the way up like how many years later now? The Pelicans keep trying to fly and crashing back down. The Magic have taken a long time to cook and are basically the Ricky Rubio Jazz level of good. The Hawks thought they were there but nope they still suck. Same with the Nets. Portland is in absolute hell now. OKC's build took a while, longer than Jazz fans have patience for. Same with Rockets who are still just mid.
Golden State sucked for an age before Curry got there. Minnesota sucked for two decades basically. The Knicks for three decades. Mileaukee was nothing for an age before Giannis. I could go on.
So its true you gotta get that generational talent somehow but two or three years is just dreaming.

I like the concept of Big Game Hunting, but I think it can also come from future or young players. You are right, in that Lauri does hold some of the cards, and more than you think. The Jazz tried to go after Mikal Bridges as their first big game hunting target, that fell through when he was traded to the Knicks. They tried to pivot and bring in Tobias Harris, that didn't work when he went for more money to the Pistons. Kawhi isn't leaving LA Clippers anytime soon, he's injured too much. Ingram will be leaving New Orleans but not to come to Utah, because we still don't have our #1 option. I don't think there is a CURRENT player in the NBA right now, who is on the Jazz's radar as their future #1 option. That player they are looking at is probably in the 2025 draft (Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper etc.) which means that this year they are looking at secondary or even tertiary options that they could bring in alongside that #1 option. They may have already found one of those 2nd or 3rd option players in Cody Williams. Personally, I think the Jazz are pivoting again, and are now looking to trade Lauri instead so he can be on a contending team. (He is 27) If the Jazz are going to trade Lauri as well as possibly Sexton (25), John Collins (26 almost 27) and Clarkson (32), then they are going to be looking for trades that are similar to the Mikal Bridges trade, which means a lot of picks and/or a lot of young players. Two teams you have to think about as who are hunting for Lauri are the Warriors and the Spurs. The Warriors see Lauri as their possible big shooter that could help them rebound post Klay. The problem is they probably will not be willing to give up Kuminga because they see him as their next Wiggins. Nor would they be willing to give up Podziemski, because they think he's their next Klay. They'd be willing to give up Moses Moody, but he's isn't that much of a gain for Utah as he still hasn't figured it out yet. (True, he hasn't been given the time yet, but there's probably a reason for that, the Warriors might know something we don't like they did when they traded Jordan Poole to the Wizards, we don't want another situation like that). Of course they'd be willing to give up Wiggins along with Moody, and probably a pick in maybe the 2026 draft but that's not what we are trading Lauri for. Like I said before we will be trading Lauri for picks and/or a young player or two, and the Warriors unfortunately do not have a lot of them (picks that is). So who's the next team that wants Lauri preferably someone with a lot of picks. The Spurs or Thunder. The Thunder already have Chet and just signed IHart, so probably not them, but what about the Spurs? They have said that everyone is on the table minus Wemby, and Vassell. Well okay, I'd take Sochan, Keldon Johnson, Tre Jones, they just drafted Stephon Castle, we really liked him this year. We liked him even more than Cody Williams, but knew we didn't have the pick or the assets to get him, but maybe we do we just have to wait a little bit like we did when we got Kessler from the Wolves in the Gobert trade. The Spurs are looking for a bigger PF who they can stick next to Wemby and be another lob threat and option for their new point God recruit in Chris Paul. Lauri definitely fits the bill, and Wemby makes up for Lauri's defensive inefficiencies. The Spurs love international players and always have their eyes overseas as well as inside the US. Lauri is international (from Finland). Not quite sure if Castle is in their future plans because while he can pass, defend, is big, his shot isn't quite there yet. They could be looking at Garland's former teammate Sexton, or a 2025 prospect instead (Nolan Traore), they would certainly give up Sochan since Lauri would fill his position, they'd give up Keldon Johnson to match salary, they'd also give up another young player who is better than we thought in Tre Jones, and they might even also give up their own 2025 pick (not the one from the Hawks) since their own would probably be after the lottery, because they are going to be better with Lauri, and the Jazz know whichever team they trade Lauri to they will make better). So you got Sochan (21), Tre Jones (24), Keldon Johnson (24 almost 25), Stephon Castle (19 almost 20), and a Spurs pick (maybe Khaman Maluach or Aaron Bradshaw, Maluach is only 17, will be 18 when drafted, and Bradshaw is only 20) so all these players are still younger than 25 and in Keyontae's, Hendricks' and now Cody Williams' age range. So they'd be able to grow along with their teammates. Furthermore if we don't tank this year and like you say try and find our #1 option via big game hunting in Kawhi, or Ingram, we will lose our pick to the Thunder like we would have this year had we not tanked. If we are still looking for younger players then we HAVE to continue to tank! I know this was long but I hope it gave you insight into what I'm thinking and was worth the read.

He is the most injury prone player In the league he is lazy and stopped playing after Toronto and after his finals notoriety and his large contracts. He is damaged goods. I can see it now, Kawhi signs and suffers a sore quad muscle and is out for the first 12 games, returns and averages 11.7 ppg over the next 8 games then suffers from back spasms. Out for another 20 games. Becomes upset when he's not paid more than any other player on the team. Pouts on the bench for 8 games for "personal reasons." Comes back for most of the remainder of the season and shoots every time he touches the ball to up his ppg av. Cashes our checks for 24-25 then demands a trade to a contender. What's not to like?

  • @marvinnelson2193
    @marvinnelson2193 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

No to Kawhi! He’s not worth the asking price at his age and recent history of injury’s. He won’t improve the team enough to even consider it. The focus should be on extending Lauri on a max deal if he wants to be here and is willing to wait a little longer in the rebuild for things to improve. His game will still be good for a few more years and will still be a coveted player for at least the next two or three years. We need to see what our young players can do because at some point you will have to keep the best and trade or release those who don’t have the skills that fit with your core. However, past history has shown that even your best players will be traded in order to build a contender and championship caliber team. Look back at what Danny did in Boston to get them where they are now. This is only year three. Rebuilds take time especially if you are building a team to compete for more than one or two years. Don’t get so attached to players. Enjoy them while they’re here.

The Jazz havent combined or aggregated any contracts yet because they havent found the right deal to do that....patience is key and the Jazz will need lots of it. Nobody likes to trade with the Jazz when they can see they are hoarding cap space and picks. The Jazz just need to acquire picks from teams that have gone all in and have no way out to rebuild. Only way to do that is to get the other teams to want what we have. Teams do want Laurie so maybe they will include some of those valuable picks and maybe a nice young player or two.
As much as you like J Dub ...Laurie is better. Laurie is the real deal in my mind which is why a kings ransom might not be good enough. Once you have the star you generally keep them.
I do believe the Jazz can play hold and or sell at the same time. Why Not!? Cant redo his contract to Aug 6th so might as well keep social media going for the NBA.
Also believe the Jazz need to be good enough if they go super tank mode to be able to beat the teams that have the picks they hold. Also need to improve their trade partners so they can cannibalize each other to the Jazzs future benefit.
For now, I still see some great opportunities to be a very good team. Not so sure they should go full tank mode. By waiting....the market is settling in after 2B in contracts and we still have players needing a home. The jazz control the MARKET!!!! Go Jazz

👎🏻 I would rather build organically over the next couple years and wait until we’re in a situation conducive to immediate success. As in we need one piece to tip the scales. I also think he’s too prone to taking games off to be a good choice. 22:30

Kawhi Leonard "WAS" a top 14 player in the NBA 5 years ago, emphasis on the "Was" now he a way overpriced or Over-paid player! Who thinks he is special and is not a team player type of guy. If the Jazz traded for him im Switching the Team i root for and ive been a hard core fan since 1990

Kawhi Leonard is a bad role model for young player's. He is so selfish and past his prime and injury prone and has nothing left to give any team and he's only going to bring any team he is on in the future down because he's only out for HIMSELF.

This would be an absolute disaster. Lauri and Kawhi maybe play 55 games a year and we are a 5 seed? I don't get the dedication to Lauri. Yes he's an amazing 3rd option but it seems people were ok letting Mitchell and Gobert go but not Lauri when we have way less of a vision of success to him and way less history. He was a super nice bonus in the Mitchell trade

As great as Kawhi is he's not healthy when he needs to be so I don't want him here even tho when he's healthy he's definitely top 10 in the NBA imo. But I wouldn't risk trading our young future for an aging star who's only good for 50-60 games and not around at all for the playoffs it's not worth the risk.

Would still need another star player or it won't work. If they could get Kawhi and T Young, that could be a solid angle, but I wouldn't think Atlanta would be interested in trading. It is probably best to trade LM for as much as possible and bottom out.

Kaai, great player, but would delay the Jazz Rebuild, fans need to get their emotions out of this, follow OKC's example, suddenly bringing in a fellow who does not meet your plan makes you Brooklyn, constantly getting in your own way. Ainge is not going to deviate from a working plan, HE HAS BUILT Champions.

Absolutely not! This is a terrible idea! We need to tank this year and go after Cooper Flaggs, not try to revive players that are injury prone and on the downside of their career. We would have to unload way too much for him and it gives us a 3 year window. He's likely to be more injured not less injured. The only reason you do this is that you have another guaranteed big trade and we start unloading our draft capital which then means we've lost our depth and long term growth for a very unpredictable gamble. Is that Ingram? Does ingram, Kawhi and Lauri make us contenders? I would say NO, the team play would have to be amazing and none of them are known as being incredible play makers, too much one on one play. This is a bad idea. Burn it down looks like what makes most sense and tank this year.
