This is a very interesting topic and well researched. Great work, as always, Historidame. I didn't know much about this famous fair...beautiful fair grounds and the very first Ferris wheel! but quite disturbing to have had human zoos and discriminate so openly against people of colour and that it was acceptable at that. And how ghastly to discover that HH Holmes was murdering guests in his hotel!
Consider yourself underrated. If Philomena Cunk had a sister, you'd be that sisters best friend. Probably. I'm also sure you'd like Pump Up The Jam by Belgian act Technotronic.
Very nice :=) I'm always amazed and horrified to hear about the fair because on the one hand: "Wow! Imagine being the first person to see this!" and on the other hand: "human zoo". Regarding HH Holmes apparently many historians think that "hidden rooms" were probably store rooms with the entrances hidden so that staff and those icky laborers wouldn't disturb the guests. Finally, yes you should be proud of Canada's giant block of cheese, just as I'm proud of California's oranges :=). Keep it up :=)
It’s cool that some of the buildings that survived the fire are still standing today but, I thought they were temporary buildings only built for the fair 🤔
Yes, most were built to be temporary. I believe the surviving buildings were later reinforced to be permanent or were one of the few that were built that way from the start, like the Palace of Fine Art.
Worlds fairs are fascinating, what the heck happened to human architecture after them? It just does not add up going from grand buildings to todays modern new build dystopia
Oh I'm totally with you on that. Modern buildings just have no character. It's like people don't want to put in the effort to make nice buildings anymore.
He was a horrible person, and not just by modern standards or "woke" people. Columbus was a monster even by 1492 standards, and there are plenty of primary sources documenting his behavior.
All Columbus really did was discover a new area of the world that was going to be discovered anyways and native Americans weren’t all that innocent themselves they hunted buffalo and would drive them over cliffs and use as much as they needed and left the rest to rot but what about the Vikings t(at got to the mainland in early 1000 nobody blames them as horrible people and yet they were just as blood thirsty as Columbus supposedly was if not worse it’s just that most people were taught he was bad and he never made it to the American mainland though.
Love these videos! Absolutely awesome job! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
The whole time I’m thinking, “this seems like such a fire hazard”.
It sure was lol
I love this channel! It’s one my my favourites
Thank you so much!
Love your videos!
Thank you!
Great video. Would love to see more history about the other worlds fair. So interesting!
Thank you! Tbh I was worried that it might be too niche of a topic, so I'm glad to hear that you'd enjoy more :)

Thank you! This is the most touching compliment I have gotten on this channel.

All hail Historidame
Advise anyone interested to read Devil in the White City by Erik Larson.
More enjoyable and historical.
Columbus was not a horrible person. Grow up.

Arguing that someone who majorly contributed to a genocide is not a horrible person is a bad look for you, my dude.
Firsttt :))
Please stop the terrible etc rewriting crap. If you think you’re better, tell me how. Just get to the freakin story or shut up! Sick of this.
Genuinely confused by what you mean by this.
I’m going to guess he’s annoyed that you had the gall to mention any of the bad, uncomfortable parts of history. Poor thing.
