do you have a link for the splitter you used?
What does number of "counts" rating mean? Glad I watched this, didn't know plastic probe covers were removable.
Counts gives the maximum value the display can display independent of the decimal point. For instance, a 2000 counts meter could display 2000 volts or 20.00 volts but not 2000.1 or 20.001.
Very good but what about frequency?
Where do you get one of those black adapters? Ive started diy projects and attaching plugs to heads and sometimes I need to know. Also, on a 220v 3 wire setup, would you still put that clamp around one wire? I was told they alternate so im kinda confused. Sorry for the dumb question ive looked I just can't seem to find the answer.
You can search for "ac line splitter" online. You might also be able to find them at a local home improvement store. If you are wanting to measure 220v, you need to put the clamp on one of the hot leads.
@@Rickmakes Thank you
can you measure a welder AMP output while welding?
Wait.... what about from 40 to 200 amps? Does it not read amps in ac between that range?
What do you call that black device that was plugged into your power bar, and used for checking amperage?
"ac line splitter"
How would you measure the power in the A/C common wire?
You would place the clamp around the common wire. There are instances where you could get an inaccurate reading, for instance if you were measuring the neutral on a circuit with a shared neutral. There are probably other instances as well.
Gotta be careful, not all clamp meters measure DC current.
How do I test watts
To get watts you need to multiply voltage times the amperage. If you measure 120V and 2.2A, that would be 264 watts.
@@Rickmakes thanks
@@Rickmakes so the tester doesn't do watts
by itself
