    Thanks for the video, still relevant today. Can they be used with a speed booster on eg Canon cine cameras?

    Zoom is manual, use a external device or i can do zoom with original grip? In case just with a fs7.

      Luca,
      Both the E-Mount and EF-Mount versions of the lenses have electronic contacts so that the lenses can communicate with the camera bodies they are attached to with data such as aperture, focal length and distance.

    Can someone please explain to me, what exactly does lens breathing ruin, I mean for what application such lens had to be avoided? Or Is it just aestetical thing?

      Here is a response from Nic, one of our tech specialists:
      Focus breathing is often considered an undesirable quality as the slight re-framing of the image from focus changes can be distracting to the audience or even change your composition. In extreme cases it can cause talent or objects to leave or enter the frame unexpectedly during a focus rack. Minimized focus breathing is traditionally seen as something that separates high-end cinema lenses from still photo lenses (where breathing is not as big a concern).
      All that said, it isn't a quality that would typically "ruin" most shots (depending on the severity), and many cinematographers become endeared to a given lens or lens set's optical flaws as much as the good qualities. This is often referred to as a lens's "character" (flaring, contrast, etc). It's important to check for breathing as it is generally not a sought after artistic quality like flaring or a low contrast coating, but it isn't a stretch to say that a lens with noticeable breathing can be written off as "the look" of a scene of film if accommodated for in the shot choices and composition.

      AbelCine Thanks to Nic!

      You barely notice it. Compared to non breathing lens that still stretch and squish the frame when focusing.

    Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens work on Canon C200?

    Thanks Jem. Did find the zooms as sharp as the primes?

    • @theC47
      @theC47 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are very sharp. I didn't do a side by side but generally a zoom lens isn't going to be quite as sharp as a prime.

    Are these parfocal?

      Hi Mikael - here is a response from Megan, one of our tech specialists: The backfocus on these lenses drift very slightly throughout the zoom range and they are nearly parfocal.

    The lens breathing is abysmal! What the hell! How much don’t these cost?

    • @theC47
      @theC47 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's very noticeable on the 50-100 but wouldn't affect all applications of using the lens. The 18-35 has minimal breathing.

      I've struggled with this for some time. I want the Angenieux ez 1 & ez 2 but the expense, although they are worth every penny.
      Can I buy the S35 version and purchase the FF element later ?

    No reason to get the cine versions. Get the standard ART versions and save money. Own both versions.

      @MEDiAgamer a more pro production would go with other lenses to begin with imo

    That 50-100 is unusable. I wouldn't pay $100 for one never mind thousands. Whoever goes in for that lens needs their head checking. 18-35 though is a killer.

    • @Elusive_Pete
      @Elusive_Pete 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why do you say that about the 50-100? I understand it has noticeable breathing, but other than that it's a very consistent lens.
