I recall hearing somewhere that Kizaru is about the closest thing Akainu has to a friend within the marines, the others he seems to treat mostly as co-workers he works with or troublesome individuals, he has to tolerate for those who give him headaches.

This chapter is the first time we have seen Kizaru show visible sadness and anger. The rest of the time he seems to have the same sort of get the job done calmer attitude. That really surprised me.
Most of the time he seems to act as though his jobs are casual things he can take care of easily with no thought of what will happen after. This seems to be the first time where he was emotionally invested in what was happening as well as the first time, he admitted he didn't want to carry out his assigned mission. The entire time he is trying to kill Vegapunk, he seems to be trying to keep everyone else out of his way until it becomes a necessity for him to attack them with lethal force. Claiming to just be following orders or doing his job probably rings hollow in this case.
My main reason for it not being Shanks is that the last we see him, he was preparing to leave Elbaph. The second Oda nows that if he just showed Shanks waiting it would be even more hype than just a siloluette.

It's impressive to see Sakazuki apologize for something at all, but I guess even he had to admit that it was inappropriate to question the dedication to his duty of someone who just killed his best friend instead of abandoning his duty.

29:12- this is a complete reversal of Sabody- Straw Hats are separated with Luffy distraught while Kizaru, Sentomaru, and Kuma stand tall. Kuma is now a mindless robot that had been used as a riding animal and is only moving due to being powered by his soul to save his daughter. He’s a saint but still. Sentomaru had his defenses broken by his coworkers and is forced to leave in shame. And Kizaru is an emotional wreck in top of being humiliated by the kid he antagonized 2 years ago.
He wasn't humiliated at all.... he was keeping pace with gear 5th, until luffy used an attack that even the durable monster Kaido couldn't take without falling on his back. Plus he survive that ancient haki bomb without being knocked out. Even the 5 elders had to run from that blast.....
Kizaru definetly has his moment this chapter when I realized this guy has as many feelings as everybody else he just doesn't express himself all that well. Also when you think about how Akainu responded to Fujitora mouthing off to him, and the difference to Kizaru here. With Kizaru he actually apologized back to him and didn't press him further which shows how deep of a bond the two of them have
True, Fujitora was more of a co-worker while Kizaru is the closest thing Akainu has to a friend. It probably helps that Kizaru did technically kill the main Vegapunk despite the fact that he didn't want to. He refused to let his former friendships affect how he did his job and Akainu can probably appreciate that even though it is currently eating Kizaru alive right now.
I feel like sakasukis backstory has to do with some marines half finishing a job involving pirates at his home town and then the pirates come back later and kill his village and or family or something. Thus instilling in him a sense of absolute justice
Part of Maine wants to see his back story be literally all rainbows and puppies that nothing tragic happened to him his life was awesome but he is just a hard ass honestly I feel like one piece kind of over does it with the tragic back stories to the point where Whenever the community hypes up the newest tragic back story I'm just kind of sitting here Hardly caring Like Kumas back story is tragic and all but so is everybody else's so I don't get why I should feel emotional about his tragedy when the story is already done so many of that same tragic back story That can only feel like one piece could use to have a bit more variety
I think its a Kenpachi thing where he comes from a long line of Hard ass Marines with the Magma Magma fruit. We have yet to see any fruits being passed down like that and i think one being in the WG would make sense

In hindsight saying; everybody's personality has explanations behind it. Luffy is happy go lucky despite having hard childhood but occasionally you can see his flaw and heartlessness during some moments which made you realize Luffy DIDN'T have the value of kids who grew up in peace and he could be kinda jaded. Remember when he told Vivi "People die" when she wanted to save everybody? Vivi was raised with care and love, she was a kid who had never seen war while Luffy had seen plenty of cruelty growing up. Despite them only having one year difference in age, Vivi was extremely hopeful and naive whereas Luffy was weirdly more realistic about the Civil War in Alabasta. It would be incredibly unrealistic for someone to grow up all sunshine and rainbow to just be all manic "Leaves no man behind" as an adult, there must be an explanation. And not everybody has a tragic backstory just characters who can be explained by those. Did you see Saint Carlos having one? No, he's just an ahole. What about Whitebeard? Not too tragic, he just wanted family and he knew it since he was young. After all, One Piece is a dystopian world where pirates and literal criminals can make their own kingdom and ruled over islands (Big Mom, Kaidou, WB, Shanks, literally all the Emperors are called 'Emperors' because they have territory) It will be a literal legendary achievement for a big character to not have a single tragic encounter in his life living in a world like this so I don't understand when you said Oda 'overdid' it. Like, did you read One Piece for its story or did you skim it and just touch the surface shallowly? The world of One Piece is literally so broken up it's impossible to govern it properly. Hundreds of thousands or even millions of people lived under NO laws. It's very easy for kingdoms to be corrupt as they're isolated living in an island. Unlike some other worlds like Naruto where the creator (tried) made sense of its political and law system by putting "Daimyos" (Which is a vague concept that Kishi didn't even expand, what a genius /sarcasm), or Bleach with its Soul society and its systematic rules and law in regard to the shinigami and other spiritual beings to create some sort of order, or any other anime's world. One Piece is reigned by chaos, our MC is an outlaw in a world where neither the 'government' nor the 'outlaws' were expressly good. There's NO system in place that could make some sense of orders for the whole population. Anyone who could get to the top with this kind of chaos can only either be one, grossly supported by nepotism, two; had tragic background that didn't kill them but made them stronger.
I feel like the fact that York, Lilith, and Punk Records still exists means that all the Vegapunks can be physically restored as their consciousness would be in Records

Lol, half of Vegapunk's robots are female. I'm pretty sure that Shaka is the only one who's actually male and we've never seen Shaka's face. There's also Edison, who's literally just a robot. That actually reminds me of "Schlupp", a robot from space who's always up to mischief. It's a character from the "Augsburger Puppenkiste" (Augsburg's puppet box). Wasn't there also one called "Pythagoras"? In any case, Lilith being the only survivor was actually kind of predictable.
I remember in an interview, Oda said that the Straw Hats wouldn't celebrate when someone important dies; seeing Luffy get sad that he couldn't save Stella Vegapunk as he promised is not only a perfect example of Luffy's core character but shows that Oda truly knows his series

Yea and no. They technically have known vegapunk only for a day and he hadn’t made an impact on our crew personally (unlike the readers) He just asked them to save him and they tried their best. About Borsalino snapping at Sakazuki, Grand Line Reviews also brought up the fact that Borsalino's a few years older than Sakazuki, meaning the Fleet Admiral still sees him as a big brother, meaning he has some respect for him, despite outranking him. I really like this, as it brings more nuance to these two characters we've previously seen as mere villains. If Kizaru being a stoner wasn't just a running joke on this channel, I could totally see him dull all the PTSD with some THC. Also the fact that Sakazuki cares for his closest subordinates means he's not completely without empathy.
But no seriously Kalifa came to mind, the bubble girl from Water 7. Idk why but seeing that cover page made me think of her. And as I stare at it more I could even see Miss Goldenweek or Miss Valentine from Boroque Works being possible. I wanna see more Easter eggs from early arcs now that Krieg, Gin, and Pearl are back in play.
the scripts Joy Boy wrote for that Haki activation must've been very smart and dynamic to be able to just know who to knock out at any moment like that
Borsalino breaking down is imo comparable to Lucci asking Mars to spare Kaku if possible. It's something I would have never expected out of that character. It's kidn of a revelation.
Morgan is one of the most mysterious characters in the story, imho. I often get the feeling he's actually one of the Roger crew and is not acting at random at all. Vegapunk's broadcast adds to the thought that both found that a global communications network was necessary, and, if I may go crazy here for a moment, this could have been what lead Joyboy (old one) to lose the war, and Laugh Tales explains this was the requirement for a win… hence Morgan literally created the infrastructure, and culture, for it.
The greater power in one piece isn’t Devil Fruits or Haki… it’s whatever keeps every Vice admiral/ admirals long sleeve coat attached to them while in combat

I can think of two reasons the Haki Bomb seemingly affected only SH foes, 1) While being unmoving Emmet was still tangentily aware of things going on around him and 2) Mabey it responded to proactive hostility since for the most part SH and the Giants were acting defensively.
At 14:20. I think the point was, that JoyBoy has the same will as Luffy. So naturally JoyBoys will (conquerors haki) only knocks out people, who are "enemies" of his will (and luffys)
Thank goodness that Stella, Shaka, and the other vegapunks, except York, still live on in Lilith. As long as they are there, they can rebuild their bodies in the future.
So, I looked it up. Kizaru is currently 58 and MADS was 24 years ago (according to OP wiki). Twat would put Kizaru into his mid 30ies for first meeting Vegapunk, so definitely not a rookie anymore, but probably a captain, or some similar rank. But yeah, that moment cut deep. There were so many delicious details in this chapter, I can't wait for more.

Maybe the conquerors haki affected people based on will. Maybe people who’s will aligns with Joyboy / Luffy were not affected by the haki and it only affected those opposing that will

Honestly I kind of like that talk between Kizaru and Akainu. Akainu didn't know what went on on the Island and probably only felt the strong wave of Haki hit him out of nowhere. He doesn't know what's going on and he knows the kind of guy that Kizaru is. To him he probably was just slacking off. Though...I guess I read the chapter wrong because, when I read the chapter. Originally I thought it was how Tekking and everyone else says the scene went. But afterwards, I thought it was Kizaru apologizing to Akainu for exploding at him due to the style of the text bubbles in the scene. But honestly if Akainu did apologize, it's honestly kind of nice of him and shows he has some compassion in him. He made an honest mistake because he didn't know what Kizaru went through, and who knows. Maybe Akainu had a similar situation in his life that pushed him on the path of absolute justice and we just need that backstory to truly understand that expression Akainu gave when he hard Kizaru say "Have you ever had to kill your best friend?"
I remember commenting on an old video that I've always loved Sakazuki's humanizing moments sprinkled in through the story and this has got to be my new favorite one. Actually said "wow" out loud after double checking the apology was from him and not Kizaru apologizing for losing his cool lol
I think Kizaru let Sentomaru go just like how Aokiji let Robin go after the Ohara incident as the setting is very similar. For Vivi she should be able to figure out where the straw hats are heading if she can get a hold of a map as we know Egghead didn't let the straw hats go further down the grand line so the next island from Egghead is Elbaf & to get there all she has to do is give Morgans a story that will shake the world in exchange for a ride to Elbaf.
Definitely one hell of an interesting epilogue PT2 chapter I have to say. As for the Silhouette in Yamato's cover story, it might just be me but it looked like the silhouette of a Cipher Pol agent. Could've sworn I saw the hat of the guy running. Plus the all black suit would make it easier for Oda for the "silhouette" too
It seems like Emeth had observation haki if he knew exactly where to run to on Egghead to help the crew even when Luffy is powered down so the drums aren't going, and Rayleigh said with powerful conquerors haki you can control who is knocked out. So my guess is Emeth aimed the haki rope, espeically because Joyboy kind of implied that when he said Emeth would need that knot to save himself or someone he loves like he had a choice in whom to save.
I'm surprised so many people hate Kizuru. He represents the common American worker at least from what i experienced because we do what we "have" to do something because of one reason or another sure nothing is as dramatic as in the story but thats usually the case and admittedly the U.S. isn't as corrupted as the One Piece government most likely but still theirs plenty of bs we deal with because thats the status Quo.
I guess it makes most sense Lilith absorbed all the qualities of the other Vegapunk now that she's disconnected from Punk Records. She did indeed shuffle through a lot of emotions after waking up.

Kizaru's moment this chapter was super gut wrenching and made me tear up a bit. Also I know it was just something of a throwaway comment, but huh...the possibility of Akainu having an obsidian form. I know it's not the toughest material, but ngl I still wanna see that form come to fruition lol that might look pretty badass.

If silhouette are inconsistent, then the Shanks looking silhouette might not look like Shanks. It could be Shanks’s Hot Sister for all we know.

Kizaru definetly has his moment this chapter when I realized this guy has as many feelings as everybody else he just doesn't express himself all that well.
Also when you think about how Akainu responded to Fujitora mouthing off to him, and the difference to Kizaru here. With Kizaru he actually apologized back to him and didn't press him further which shows how deep of a bond the two of them have
True, Fujitora was more of a co-worker while Kizaru is the closest thing Akainu has to a friend. It probably helps that Kizaru did technically kill the main Vegapunk despite the fact that he didn't want to. He refused to let his former friendships affect how he did his job and Akainu can probably appreciate that even though it is currently eating Kizaru alive right now.
I feel like sakasukis backstory has to do with some marines half finishing a job involving pirates at his home town and then the pirates come back later and kill his village and or family or something. Thus instilling in him a sense of absolute justice

@@yami122 Everything has a reason. Kinda like what Doflamingo said in the war "Kids who have never seen war and kids who have never seen peace have DIFFERENT VALUES." In hindsight saying; everybody's personality has explanations behind it. Luffy is happy go lucky despite having hard childhood but occasionally you can see his flaw and heartlessness during some moments which made you realize Luffy DIDN'T have the value of kids who grew up in peace and he could be kinda jaded.
Remember when he told Vivi "People die" when she wanted to save everybody? Vivi was raised with care and love, she was a kid who had never seen war while Luffy had seen plenty of cruelty growing up. Despite them only having one year difference in age, Vivi was extremely hopeful and naive whereas Luffy was weirdly more realistic about the Civil War in Alabasta. It would be incredibly unrealistic for someone to grow up all sunshine and rainbow to just be all manic "Leaves no man behind" as an adult, there must be an explanation.
And not everybody has a tragic backstory just characters who can be explained by those. Did you see Saint Carlos having one? No, he's just an ahole. What about Whitebeard? Not too tragic, he just wanted family and he knew it since he was young. After all, One Piece is a dystopian world where pirates and literal criminals can make their own kingdom and ruled over islands (Big Mom, Kaidou, WB, Shanks, literally all the Emperors are called 'Emperors' because they have territory) It will be a literal legendary achievement for a big character to not have a single tragic encounter in his life living in a world like this so I don't understand when you said Oda 'overdid' it. Like, did you read One Piece for its story or did you skim it and just touch the surface shallowly?
The world of One Piece is literally so broken up it's impossible to govern it properly. Hundreds of thousands or even millions of people lived under NO laws. It's very easy for kingdoms to be corrupt as they're isolated living in an island. Unlike some other worlds like Naruto where the creator (tried) made sense of its political and law system by putting "Daimyos" (Which is a vague concept that Kishi didn't even expand, what a genius /sarcasm), or Bleach with its Soul society and its systematic rules and law in regard to the shinigami and other spiritual beings to create some sort of order, or any other anime's world. One Piece is reigned by chaos, our MC is an outlaw in a world where neither the 'government' nor the 'outlaws' were expressly good. There's NO system in place that could make some sense of orders for the whole population. Anyone who could get to the top with this kind of chaos can only either be one, grossly supported by nepotism, two; had tragic background that didn't kill them but made them stronger.

About Borsalino snapping at Sakazuki, Grand Line Reviews also brought up the fact that Borsalino's a few years older than Sakazuki, meaning the Fleet Admiral still sees him as a big brother, meaning he has some respect for him, despite outranking him.
I really like this, as it brings more nuance to these two characters we've previously seen as mere villains. If Kizaru being a stoner wasn't just a running joke on this channel, I could totally see him dull all the PTSD with some THC. Also the fact that Sakazuki cares for his closest subordinates means he's not completely without empathy.

Vegapunk's broadcast adds to the thought that both found that a global communications network was necessary, and, if I may go crazy here for a moment, this could have been what lead Joyboy (old one) to lose the war, and Laugh Tales explains this was the requirement for a win… hence Morgan literally created the infrastructure, and culture, for it.

I can think of two reasons the Haki Bomb seemingly affected only SH foes, 1) While being unmoving Emmet was still tangentily aware of things going on around him and 2) Mabey it responded to proactive hostility since for the most part SH and the Giants were acting defensively.
At this point we can’t rule out anyone for the person at the end of the chapter. Scopper, shanks hot sister, Shiki, WANG ZHI!! It could anyone really.
At 14:20. I think the point was, that JoyBoy has the same will as Luffy. So naturally JoyBoys will (conquerors haki) only knocks out people, who are "enemies" of his will (and luffys)
Thank goodness that Stella, Shaka, and the other vegapunks, except York, still live on in Lilith. As long as they are there, they can rebuild their bodies in the future.
So, I looked it up. Kizaru is currently 58 and MADS was 24 years ago (according to OP wiki). Twat would put Kizaru into his mid 30ies for first meeting Vegapunk, so definitely not a rookie anymore, but probably a captain, or some similar rank. But yeah, that moment cut deep. There were so many delicious details in this chapter, I can't wait for more.

Borsalino's & Sakazuki's brotherly relationship always make me think of happy Kizaru looked when watching Akainu do some gardening when tending to his bonzai in that cover page.
Honestly I kind of like that talk between Kizaru and Akainu. Akainu didn't know what went on on the Island and probably only felt the strong wave of Haki hit him out of nowhere. He doesn't know what's going on and he knows the kind of guy that Kizaru is. To him he probably was just slacking off.
Though...I guess I read the chapter wrong because, when I read the chapter. Originally I thought it was how Tekking and everyone else says the scene went. But afterwards, I thought it was Kizaru apologizing to Akainu for exploding at him due to the style of the text bubbles in the scene.
But honestly if Akainu did apologize, it's honestly kind of nice of him and shows he has some compassion in him. He made an honest mistake because he didn't know what Kizaru went through, and who knows. Maybe Akainu had a similar situation in his life that pushed him on the path of absolute justice and we just need that backstory to truly understand that expression Akainu gave when he hard Kizaru say "Have you ever had to kill your best friend?"
I remember commenting on an old video that I've always loved Sakazuki's humanizing moments sprinkled in through the story and this has got to be my new favorite one. Actually said "wow" out loud after double checking the apology was from him and not Kizaru apologizing for losing his cool lol

I think Kizaru let Sentomaru go just like how Aokiji let Robin go after the Ohara incident as the setting is very similar. For Vivi she should be able to figure out where the straw hats are heading if she can get a hold of a map as we know Egghead didn't let the straw hats go further down the grand line so the next island from Egghead is Elbaf & to get there all she has to do is give Morgans a story that will shake the world in exchange for a ride to Elbaf.
Definitely one hell of an interesting epilogue PT2 chapter I have to say. As for the Silhouette in Yamato's cover story, it might just be me but it looked like the silhouette of a Cipher Pol agent. Could've sworn I saw the hat of the guy running. Plus the all black suit would make it easier for Oda for the "silhouette" too
Be kind of funny if it was Spandam, but Kalifa for some reason struck me looking at that panel.
It seems like Emeth had observation haki if he knew exactly where to run to on Egghead to help the crew even when Luffy is powered down so the drums aren't going, and Rayleigh said with powerful conquerors haki you can control who is knocked out. So my guess is Emeth aimed the haki rope, espeically because Joyboy kind of implied that when he said Emeth would need that knot to save himself or someone he loves like he had a choice in whom to save.
I'm surprised so many people hate Kizuru. He represents the common American worker at least from what i experienced because we do what we "have" to do something because of one reason or another sure nothing is as dramatic as in the story but thats usually the case and admittedly the U.S. isn't as corrupted as the One Piece government most likely but still theirs plenty of bs we deal with because thats the status Quo.
I guess it makes most sense Lilith absorbed all the qualities of the other Vegapunk now that she's disconnected from Punk Records.
